Way too busy at 15 months

Keegan is way too busy for pictures these days. I tried to take a picture of him in this Elmo outfit that he got for Christmas from Grammie Landaker and he was already on his way down the stairs. This may be why I don't post on the blog as much anymore.

Keegan did have his 15 month doctor's appointment on Monday. He was 15 months on December 23 and we had the appointment set for just after Christmas on Monday, December 28. Well I remembered the whole week before except for when the day came. My reminder alarm went off 15 minutes before we had to be at the doctor and I was still in my PJs. Luckily Keegan was dressed and ready to go! :)

Here's his stats:

Weight: 22.04lbs (25th percentile)
Height: 30.2in (50th percentile)
Head: 19in (75th percentile)

He's healthy as can be and hasn't gotten sick this winter yet--knock on wood! Hopefully we can make it all the way to spring with no major colds/flu.

Merry Christmas!

For Christmas this year we had the opportunity to go to Georgia to be with Andrew's family. The drive is 7-8 hours long (depending on how many stops you make). Keegan did pretty good but did not sleep much and we were grateful to have our portable DVD player for him!

Of course we had to open gifts at our house before we left.

Keegan loved opening gifts once he got the hang of it.

We had so much fun with Andrew's family and are glad they were close enough to drive to. It's kinda sad to think I may not be spending many more Christmases with my family though since the weather is so unpredictable this time of year... :(

Our final achievement of the year...this really hard puzzle. Only 500 pieces but 500 weird pieces. It took at least 4 of us to complete! :)

Why I Married Andrew

Ok...laugh at this story if you must but this is one of my finest achievements to date (second only to bearing my son.... :) haha j/k).

Since Andrew & I are leaving early Wednesday morning to drive to Georgia we decided to open our gifts early on Monday night. Andrew got me this rolling kitchen cart that I've wanted for a long time. When we first bought our house I gave up my dream of an island and cabinet space in the kitchen. We saw this cart over a year ago and I decided it was the solution to all of my problems. :)

Well Andrew finally got it for me (or he finally gave it to me...often times he buys gifts way in advance for me and gives them to me months and months later). I couldn't wait for Andrew to put it together when we get back from Georgia so I decided to have a try at it. Holy cow! Has anyone ever put something together from a box like this? The little wrench they include is painful to use. And Keegan was eating the screws until I finally decided to put him down for a nap to avoid a pre-Christmas trip to the ER. Ok so at least 2 hours or more later....I did it all by myself.

Now can I never be the one to assemble anything ever again? This is why I got married in the first place. Sheesh! :)

Santa Phobia

This year we have discovered that Keegan is afraid of Santa. His first encounter was just before Thanksgiving at a holiday preview at Kroger. Keegan cried and Santa tried to back away as quickly as possible. Then we went to the museum center downtown to Holiday Junction. Santa was there...Keegan didn't want that guy to even touch his hand. Just on Monday our neighbor was nice enough to invite us to the zoo lights with her and her kids. Of course Santa had to be seen--Keegan was willing to take a candy cane from this one. And then just last night we went to a local park that has a Holiday in Lights display each year. Afterwards you can go to Santaland and of course visit none other than Santa himself. :) And what do you know? After only 4 sightings of jolly Ol' Saint Nicholas---Keegan sat on Santa's lap. So although some places allow free pics of Santa with your own camera, we had to buy the first picture of Keegan actually on Santa's lap.

Don't you love the deer in headlights look on Keegan's face? We thought it was pretty funny--I think it must've been the candy cane from Santa the night before that got him to finally sit on this one's lap. :)

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving, Andrew's dad came to visit us (for the first time since we moved to Cincinnati! :) ) and we had a great time. For Thanksgiving day we went to Andrew's cousin, Jenny's, house in Columbus. And then Andrew and his dad did Black Friday sales at 3am while I slept soundly with Keegan at home. :)

Among our adventures were losing Lilly--yes, the very moment Andrew was picking his dad up from the airport Lilly ran away in the backyard after a rabbit. I thought she would be right back as she usually is. Well she wasn't and she wasn't wearing her collar either. Many tears and a few lost dog flyers later, Lilly has returned. However, she did spend Thanksgiving with a nice family a few houses behind ours. :)

Unfortunately I have sustained a sinus infection for the past two weeks and finally broke down and went to the doctor. The day after we lost Lilly, I also lost my voice. I don't know if it was from calling for her or because of sickness...we'll never know but Andrew and his dad enjoyed my silence for a day. :)

We enjoyed a great visit from Andrew's dad and Keegan enjoyed spending time with his Grandpa.
