Corridor Inspection

Yup..effuryfing is okie...

Bujang made a lot of noise and climbed on the sofa yelling and so I knew that he was fed up with being cooped up in the house and wanted to go for a walk. I put his harness on him and he immediately walked up to the gate. He knew he was going out :) He walked the whole length of the corridor and became quite curious with the still-to-be-fixed grills of our new neighbour and sniffed at them until I had to remind him it was time to get a move on.

He got quite afraid when the 'karang=guni' man came by with his very loud horn. He bolted for home and I was more than thankful that his jacket was not too loose. We followed the man at a discreet distance until Bujang realised that he was quite safe. He then made a thorough check of grandma's plants before the faint sounds of the horn scared him into the house.

But once in, he became quiet and quite relaxed and had a nap on the coffee table :) I really must bring him out more often!

1st time downstairs in 2009

First I need to case the environment...just in case...
Then I put ONE foot on the floor, while my eyes look around for danger...

I had to tell san to use the leash carefully.
I do not want to trip up on my 1st trip downstairs in 2009...

Then....I heard a noise! I had to stay close to home..yah..just in case...

There were some fings which I had seen before..upstairs.
But there were many here. They all smelled strange...

I tried to go upstairs but san told me that there was nuffing there...

I had a good time hiding out and looking at fings from my hideout.
I hope san will bring me downstairs again soon...

Last Friday, I thought I had some time off and so came home to bring Tanaka downstairs for a bit. He has been looking at Bujang wistfully every time I bring Bujang downstairs. So I put him in his purple harness, got the carrier, tied the carrier to the stroller, clamped the stroller to the bicycle stand and then we both waited for some time before Tanaka decided that the coast was clear for him to put his first foot out of the carrier and on the ground! Phew!

Of course he hid in the carrier several times and finally found courage to take a short walk, never too far away from the stroller. He stalked strangers from behind, sniffed at every corner and looked at the world from behind pillars.

Then I had a call and was horrified to be told that I was supposed to be at work for something! I bundled Tanaka and we raced home. I just had 30 minutes to get back. But I was saved by a friend who said that she would take care of the matter fir me as she lived nearer. Thank goodness. The thing was I actually looked at my schedule and did not even see my name on it. I had thought that I would get home early and take Tanaka out that morning. I wonder if this had anything to do with me not seeing my schedule properly.

The Outside...Oh NO!

I do not know why the boys were afraid of walking outside alone. I liked it. I was a brave kitty today.

Toro sitting close to home instead of walking as usual.

Bujang did not like the noises outside from the new neighbours. The sudden bouts of laughter and strange sounds confused him.

I thought I would take all the boys (except megat) for a walk along the corridor. The only one who was enthusiastic about this was Tanaka as when it was his turn, the corridor was quiet and our new neighbours had their door closed. Toro did not like walking as their sudden shouts frightened him and he was only able to walk a short distance before the lift opened to bring on more anxieties in the shape of the little boy and his father. These two were our old neighbours but Toro is by nature, afraid of strangers. He scrambled home and desperately tried to go indoors. I think he was also a little afraid from his little misadventure from some time ago where he tried to walk the corridors by himself and both of us got very frightened. I finally found him hiding in the neighbours plant patch two floors above that very scary day. Bujang did not like it one bit as eventhough he is not afraid of strangers, he did not like strange noises and the orientation of the house and plants were different, which upset him a little. So all in all only Tanaka had a good day walking outside :)

Bujang's very short trip outside

Bujang had a very short trip outside on sunday. I had added on another short leash to his already long one so he could take a longer walk by himself. But he was not satisfied and wanted to walk an even longer distance. So he pulled at his leash and then he extricated himself from his red jacket. I don't know how he did it. But he did not manage to get out as his jacket was also buckled at his neck :) Poor thing Bujang. So I got him out and brought him home where he rested and then fell asleep.

Toro's sunday adventures

Toro planning his route...

Restiing before the big walk...

Contemplation...

Should I?

What's behind this door?

Should I turn the corner?

Phewww!

As with most cats, walking takes a lot of planning and changing of minds. Toro has been wanting to go outside for the longest time and I finally got the time to take him walking along the corridor. He is much more comfortable here and would freak out if I bring him downstairs. So as usual he walks or slinks along slowly, sniffing and resting until he came to the staircase. then he sat for quite some time contemplating the wisdom of moving down the stairs :) Finally Toro the great adventurer decided that corners were much more interesting, especially when they have holes in which to peer into darkness :)

I am glad he did not try to get out of his jacket like Bujang did. I did not take any pics of Bujang as I was busy trying to extricate him from his jacket. After that big operation, Bujang decided that he would rather stay indoors and look at the world from inside the grills :)

Being neighbourly - an interlude

What's that? What's that eh?

To go upstairs or not to go. THAT is the question.

Its about time I see what's around the corner...

Hmmm...these neighbours are just as tidy as grandma...

I decided to bring Bujang out for a walk along the corridor this afternoon. It was quiet and peaceful and I thought he might appreciate the time out away from the rest of the kitties. He wore his jacket wiliingly and immediately stepped out when I opened the grills for him. I am gald he didn't make a fuss nor try to bite his leash or jacket or me :)

Bujang took his usual route jauntily, stopping only to see what goes on through the little ventilation openings on the walls and to enjoy the slight breeze. He then went to visit the neighbours as it has been quite a long time when he saw them last. He actually tried the stairs but was not brave enough then to climb up to the next floor. I was rather glad as the neighbours upstairs have alot of stuff outside their door and it would take a long time for Bujang to sniff each and every piece of furniture and I wasn't sure the neighbours would like it :)

I encouraged Bujang to walk only at our floor as the neighbours know him and they know I sometimes bring him for a walk. He went around the corner and sniffed the floors and shoes. This was the first time he had gone around this corner so I;m sure there were many new smells. He finally sniffed at his favourite plants and seemed content to walk slowly home :)

Ms Akira was busy whining at the door but I thought it would have to be for another day.
