Saturday in the park

The first time Bujang is running across the field. This is quite exciting as it means he may have less pain in his hips. I would be showing Adrian, his osteopath, this video next week.

Saturday with Bujang

Bujang saw Adrian today. Adrian was pleased with his progress and said that his body was much better. So he advised me to continue massaging the back of his neck so he does not get cramps there which would worsen his disposition. Adrian also said that whenever  Bujang is irate I should try to put an ice pack wrapped in a cloth on his head and back for about 30 secs as this would make him less uncomfortable as well.

The surprise today was that he decided to get out of his carrier to take a walk. This was the first time in almost 2 years he was with Adrian that he decided to do this. Of course I didn't allow it as he didn't have his harness.

Saturday Easy

Today I went to see Adrian for my back
This is me having a massage right up the the middle of my back. I will tolerate none on my lower back.
          This is my favorite
It wasn't too bad but the best thing was I don't have to go back until 2 months later.

Oh oh! I am going next week!

Osteopath Saturday

We are back from our osteopath Adrian. He was very pleased with me and my 'sparrow-like ' energy. He said I am very well indeed and my energy is healthy and joyful.
I allowed Adrian to give me a nice cranial massage and was very relaxed. He was pleased that my muscles are not too stiff and I have not been using my alpha male energy much. But I have to be back in a month while Akira needs only to be back in 6 weeks. But I think this is better than acupuncture. I don't like needles and I am glad San has stopped making me go for my back. But San told me that if my kidney values deteriorate I may have to go back. But that is not in 2 months so I am having it good for now.

Easy Peasy Sunday

Today is san's Gotcha day. It is also my rainbow brother's Totoro's Gotcha day. I hope san gives us a taste of the cake later.

I had tried to catch the last sunpuddle yesterday after my appointment with Adrian. Adrian told san that I had pain only in one vertebra and when I told Fern that I was not in pain he told san that I may genuinely have gotten used to the pain so much so that it has become part of me. San was horrified as she thought I was in a lot of pain but Adrain said he thought I was able to cope with it. He would try other means to help me manage the pain next month. I really think it's ok and the only good thing, to my mind, that came out of that meeting was Adrian telling san that she should take me out for a walk daily. HURRAH!

My two sisters are coping well with each other. Akira is still nervous of walking in front of Popps as Popps would stare at her. Once she ran and Popps ran after her but that was just instinct I think. Popps likes tumbling about the house. It is a great mystery to me why she does that.

My brother Tanaka may have to wear a collar the next time he goes to the needle doctor. Two Tuesdays ago, he sat quite calmly on the table (you can see his photo). Then quite suddenly he whipped his head around and took out one of the needles himself. San was shocked and looked into his mouth in panic. But there was no needle. She insisted that the needle doctor also looked and finally they both found the needle on the table, near to where his head was. The needle doctor said he has never seen a kitty do that. Last Tuesday he did it again but cousin R was warned by san and she was quick to check although not quick enough to stop him. He is a freak I think!
Finally my sister Popps has a new blanket. It's not exactly new though. San says we have so many to share and so she has decided to just make sure Popps has a new one weekly. It is also good as all the blankets have the family smell and san thinks that is important in being family when you're a cat.
This is mine. Adrian told san I should not sleep on the cold floor as it would make my back worse. So now I have something warm to lie on. My doctor Adrian is a cool guy!

Easy Peasy Sunday Thanks

San thought I should blog for today since I am so much better in my body and mind. San said I have stopped gnawing at my skin until it breaks all the time and THIS is a cause for celebration. Last week I only had a tiny one and we put some antibiotic cream on it. We both feel that it was an achievement for the both of us. I know san feel thankful for this. I can't help smiling under my pillow case.
Here I was waiting for Adrian, my osteopath yesterday. I was so relaxed that gradually fell asleep on my tiger. I have never done that before.
Here I was falling asleep. Adrian told san that my body was much better and I was a very relaxed kitty. He was quite amazed at how well I was doing. I was also not so stressed in my head. He checked my bones and said they were all in alignment. THAT is good news as well.
My sister Popps was also in a good place. She had started to play with her lion and sometimes she throws him out of her bed as he was taking too much space.
Here she was giving him a lesson about playtime. She carries him about as well.
My brothers Bujang and that orange one Tanaka are also doing well. Huh? What do you mean I need to talk about them separately? Oh well, if you insist.
Bujang is also doing well. He has taken his TCM medicine without much fuss although he still needs to be persuaded to take the calming medicine. He is also much more playful and would run about with Tanaka more. San thought his back was better but Adrian said it was still a problem. The thankful part was that it was now stable and has not become worse. Adrian suspected that Bujang has chronic back pain. San said that was not good news. But Bujang seemed to be able to do the usual things okay so maybe it was not very painful now. Bujang told Fern that he 'could manage' the pain himself. But san will try to tell the needle doctor about the chronic pain next week. San thinks Bujang should still go eventhough he hates the needles.
Ya. My orange kitty brother is always napping. San says maybe he is a little bored as san has gone back to work. But at least now he is eating his wet food more times than not, although not as much as before. He does not irritate me as much as I am much more fierce and will tell him off. I know he is getting the probiotics and now he has his own tray of grass as well. Although I don't like him much, I hope he gets over his nausea  and eats his wet food as enthusiastically as his dry food soon.

Updates from the osteopath

Tanaka looking at Akira in her carrier. He was more outgoing and preferred to walk about.

He told Fern that his right shoulder was okay but Adrian found that it was a little stiff. He sat quite docilely and allowed Adrian to massage the kinks out. More surprising was that they 2 kitties did not growl at each other at all during their treatments and they were seated next to each other.

Akira's diagnosis was not as easy. Her muscles were tense and she was under some stress. Adrian also pointed out that her face was pinched and long. I agree as these days her face more often than not would look like this.

It is full of worry and stress and of course the emotional stress would translate to muscle stress as well. So she would have to go again next month so he could help her relax her muscles and alleviate some of the stress. We hope this would translate to her overgrooming which is becoming more serious as it has extended to her feet as well.

Bujang results were also not so rosy but not so grim. He has stiffness in his lower back and he was not pleased to have Adrian massage him there at all. He was restless and tried to bite him unlike before where he would allow Adrian to help. He still loves to run about with Tanaka and is still able to climb up the shelves.  But he has to go back next month as well for further massages.

Hmmm you must be glad that I am ok san. I am glad as well.

Tanaka at the osteopath

  Zzz after my osteopath appointment.

Adrian told san that she should massage my spine effuryday so I have less chance of getting spinal trouble. He has 2 other cats with slipped disc problems and so he told san we should also be careful.
He said prevention is better as I am a kitty who likes to jump over fings and fly up onto fings as well. Offur than that I am in tip top shape. But now I am just too sleepy fur anyfing else.
This is my osteopath Adrian giving me a massage. I decided to get out offur my carrier and I took a walk but I stopped for Adrian.
Yes I did try to get into my sisfur's carrier but I was not furry successful. San brought us both to see Adrian which was better fur her. Better fur me too as I can get as close as I can to my sisfur and she didn't even growl at me or anyfing !

Easy Peasy Sunday

We are glad to be able to bring you new pictures eventhough I did not bring out the camera very much this week. Ms Akira has been quite relaxed as she was eager to get out of her room as soon as I get home from work. She does not even have to meow. These days she would just sit near the gate and I would let her out. She does this only with me though and would not go out if Cousin R asks her. Bujang went to the osteopath Adrian yesterday. He was very good with Adrian and allowed Adrian to manipulate his hips a little. Tanaka on the other hand had quite exciting times watching repairmen in the house but we have had to put him in the night cage so he won't try to tell them what to do. Here, he can see them and so won't be too anxious.
This is because Tanaka is only afraid of san as he knows she would put him on timeout if she catches him trying to disturb me. But I am glad to report that he did not disturb me as much this week but I know he would chase me if he could.
This was me resting yesterday after I got home from seeing my osteopath. It was not too bad although I don't see why I needed to go again. I told my friend Fern (our friend who is the animal communicator and who gives the amigos their weekly Reiki sessions) that I do not need to go but she said it would be good to see if my spine is still ok or it needed an adjustment. She also said I must be quiet in the taxi (which he was) and that I must allow Adrian to help me without biting or scratching him. Since I know san will make me go anyway I decided to do as she said.

san: Adrian found that his middle spine was a little stiff again but after some manipulations and massage, it was much more relaxed. He also allowed Adrian to manipulate his hips a little but only one side at a time and not both sides at once. When Adrian tried to massage both sides at once, he took one look at his face and turned around to show what he wanted Adrian to do. He did not meow nor did he bite and scratch. This was good as I did not bring him to the vet to cut his nails. He still has sensitive paws and does not allow anyone to touch them. Adrian also tried to massage his hind legs as well which did not go as well.  He said that he had seen a lot of cats in his practice with arthritis in the legs but with massage, we should be able to help Bujang. He does not have any yet but prevention is always better. Apart from this Adrian said his energy is very strong and well-balanced :))
My selfie while I was waiting for Adrian.
I was quite tired yesterday after the air-con repairmen went. I spent almost 2 hours just watching them. I do not know why san did not want me to help the repairmen as it looked very exciting. I could show them their tools and tell them if they were doing the right thing. I could also watch out if one of them should fall off the building as I noticed the window to the outside was open. San told me later that the repairmen had to instal a new compressor for us and it had to be outside of our bedroom. San never opens this window for us at all and we had never seen the outside with it open. san can sometimes be such a spoil-sport but I was glad we were cooler at night though. We had spent two weeks being much too warm at bedtime.

Monday Mood

Gratitude

This is just the way I had envisioned the amigos to be together 3 years ago - sitting peacefully in the same space and time. It has taken us almost 3 years to come to this situation and it happened last night after dinner. Ms Akira was in the kitchen so I allowed Tanaka out into the living room where he played and sniffed about and later sat on top of the night cage. I thought everything would be as per normal with all kitties in their safe places until I turned around and saw THIS! My heart nearly leapt out of my mouth! That was how surprised I was. But good sense stopped me from scooping her up. Instead I let her just sit there relaxing (of cos with her eyes staring at Tanaka and Tanaka intently looking down at her). I was also surprised that Tanaka did not immediately leap down to chase her as well. However, after some minutes Akira got up slowly. I knew from her twitching ears and tail that she was not sure and so I got up and sat on the sofa, close enough for her to walk towards me if she wanted...and she did. Only then did I scoop her up and put her in her calm room as it was already 8 pm and Tanaka will have to get down to go to bed. All in all, it was the best Easter we have ever had in our house.
I thought it would be wise to list down the steps that might have contributed to this so I know what I had done and not done or can still explore. It had taken Akira a long time to have such courage to tell Tanaka off as well and by actually making a choice of sitting with everyone, she is making one of her wishes come true- that is to sit peacefully with everyone in the living room. I had to put her on clomicalm (on her vet's recommendation for over grooming). This only added to her stress as she knew when this would happen and he whole body would tense up. So I had given her Ovarid that I can put in her food as it is tasteless and odourless. This was only for a short time as it could give her diabetes in the long run.For the period that was taking Ovarid, her fur grew but after the vet stopped it, she began to overgroom again. She also had bloodwork before the clomicalm and after the Ovarid.

Then I had  skyped Laura Stinchfield, thepetpsychic or animal communicator to ask her what was wrong. This was when I discovered the following:
1. That the boys think her eyes were frightening
2. That they think she walked queerly for a cat
3. That they think she was going to hurt them as she her eyes were too big and she walked strangely.
Akira also said:
1. Her neck hurt when she walked
2. her legs hurt as well as she needed to walk low and stalk about as she was frightened of being chased by the boys (they did chase her all the time if they could)
3. She frequently could not see very well and that was why she had to open her eyes wide.
4. That she felt afraid all the time and she said she would prefer to 'die' than have Megat (my rainbow kitten) hurt her again.

Laura recommended a chiropractor to correct her spine. Dr Ly our vet, recommended an osteopath Adrian to help her as she was a timid cat and all that chiropractic manipulations may do her more harm than good. So we got Adrian and indeed he told me that as she had been walking very low for many years, she indeed an a curved spine and this would have been extremely painful for her and she had legs that were bent as she had to stalk low so the boys would not see her (eventhough she was in her room). She had undergone about 2 months of weekly visits to Adrian and now as her spine is straight, she goes once every 3 months.

I had also gotten her Reiki help (which all 3 now have) on a weekly basis with Fern. Fern helps them with Reiki and also talks to them weekly like a psychiatrist :)). Everyone gets Spirit Essence (from Jackson Galaxy) for their own special condition every day, Akira and Tanaka share both spaces (in the computer room) and the rooms in the house daily so that they recognise each others scent and now Tanaka shares the living room without the harness when Akira is in the kitchen. Tanaka knows not to go into the kitchen when she is there (of cos sometimes he forgets or the curiosity is just too much for him).

Akira has grown much in self-confidence and Tanaka has grown to accept that they both must share the living spaces as well as the significant spaces.

So you can see why we were so excited to see all of them sitting quietly last night. We hope to see more of this.
Akira out walking yesterday. Walking outside in the harness sis also good for her self-esteem and she likes walking at night when it is quiet. Yesterday she walked out in the late afternoon.
We thank our friends Whipple and Pepper for their generosity in giving us the award. We have listed many things that we are thankful for instead of just three. We are giving this award to our good friends The Chans , the great kitties at Animal Shelter Volunteer Life , those nood kitties at Katnip Lounge and supper sassy Katie at Katie Isabella.

Here are the rules for accepting to YOO-HOO award:
- Firstly, post the award on your blog and thank the blogger who gave it to you.
- Secondly, visit at least three of the blogs that are receiving the award along with you and leave a comment.
- Thirdly, tell us all three things you have to celebrate. You know, three things for which you are thankful.
- Lastly, pass along the award to seven other bloggers and let them know you have done so. (sorry Whipple and Pepper.)

Bujang at the osteopath

Bujang behaved very well at the osteopath this morning. He sat patiently and waited for Adrian and he helped Adrian massage his spine by turning right and left and sitting quietly. He even allowed Adrian to feel his liver without once protesting. I was quite amazed at how well-behaved he was.

The report this time was excellent. Adrian had checked all his vertebrae and he did not find any stress in any one of them now. I am really glad as I want his later life to be just as happy as his life now, without excruciating and debilitating pain.

I must stress that Adrain did say his physical trauma is the result of some emotional stress and trauma in his early life as to date Bujang did not have any kind of trauma with me nor had he hurt himself. Adrian helped him the first time and I had decided to get more help for his emotional issues with Craig MacLennan, a naturapath and holistic teacher. Craig had been working with Bujang and clearing his emotional 'blockages' and chakra work. Since I do not think that a stressed spine can be better with only one treatment, the emotional work with Craig must have done a llot to help him as well.

Since he is doing so well, we only need to see Adrian in 3 months, in July. Hurrah!

Bujang and the osteopath

Bujang was not certain at all if he liked being at Biopolis. The new space frightened him for a bit.
But later on he felt quite ok and became curious about everything.
We came earlier as we had to register him. Then I brought him to the back garden where it was cooler.
By the time Adrian came to see him he was a little relaxed. I must say that he behaved very well indeed and did not even snarl at Adrian. It transpired that his spine was actually quite stressed and that was why he didn't like anyone touching his back. Adrian said later in life, he might have spinal arthritis but we would try to make sure that we do everything we can to help him out. After some more gentle manipulations and discussions with me about his life and what had happened to him, Adrian said he might have had some trauma earlier that had resulted in the stressed spine. I could not ignore this as he might have experienced some discomfort before when I sent him for grooming and he is a fierce cat so the groomers might have had to restrain him in a way. I do not know for sure if this had happend but I had not sent him for any more grooming sessions after the last one where his groomer had clipped his nail quick and had allowed it to bleed without telling me. That was many years ago.

Anyway Adrian said that he would have to have further spinal help and I should bring him back in two weeks. For today, I should not bring him out nor allow others to overly stimulate him. He was to rest and sleep although if he wanted to play, I should let him. But whatever it is, it should be Bujang who had to make the choices.

An hour after we got back, Bujang made his choice to sit here, away from everyone and everything.

The doctor told me to rest san.
                                                              ...zzz...

Akira and the osteopath

This morning Akira went to the osteopath. She now sees Adrian only once very 3 months as she is better and he needs only to do some minor adjustments, if she needs them. She was suspicious from yesterday as she saw her red soft carrier among the cat toys. This morning after her breakfast, she went resolutely inside her cubby hole. Usually she would make a request to be let out into the family room on Saturdays.

This is Adrian, her osteopath. She likes him a lot and would sit even through the most painful massage. When I asked her if the treatments were working she said (to Laura, the animal communicator):
My body feels much better. I stretch better and when he massages me I feel a release of everything. My doctor said iam a nice cat.

I had asked her to tell Bujang about Adrian as I thought he would benefit from some realignment of his bones since he is already 10 this year and he does not like his back touched a lot. She told Bujang that: He is a human friend with a big heart and his heart is wild about cats. His heart stretches outward and inside of you so fear becomes nothing and love becomes everything.

I think that must be the best endorsement for anyone who works with animals.

In this picture we were at the 'garden' which is behind the osteopath clinic. It's a quiet and breezy space where you can sit and take a breather. We were here this morning an d not at our usual space as workers were digging the roads to build a foundation for a new building across the street.

Usually we would be seated here for the treatments. Tanaka's treatments are here as well as one of the other osteopaths is allergic to animals. I told Adrian about Bujang and he said he would be willing to see him. So in March Bujang would see this doctor since both Akira and Tanaka had only good things to say to him about Adrian. I hope he allows Adrian to treat him without incident.

When we came home she took a short nap.
