Community Cat News

Putih at her usual dinner spot

Last week Putih disappeared for 2 whole days. We were very worried as she has never done that. But after 2 days, she came sautering home but did not want to eat much. I gave her 2 different plates of 2 different types of food. It took a few more days before she could eat her usual dinner. She was not hurt nor did she have fever and so we thought we should just let her relax.
She is now eating well and as is her wont, just turn around and leave once the food is done :)
PD is looking very well. He is still fat but is now very clean and well-mannered. The 3-month sojourn at a cat facility totally transformed him. Here he was just curious about Blackie :)
Blackie at dinner. She eats quite a lot and very slowly.
Jeffrey oy aka Terror Kitty, quite transformed into a very handsome kitty.
Minah of course remains her rotund self :)

More news about The Man! I realised that the reason he was very friendly with me was to get me to be his referee. It seems he was asked to return to the police force as a part-timer (?) and needed someone as referee. I wonder why he chose me as I am a total stranger to him and when I asked him if he would help keep an eye on Minah or even some other cats, he actually gave me the number for the AVA!! and the NEA!! WHAT!

What Now?

Hmmm...I wonder what he wants now? He sounds suspicious san...furry...
After many years of not having to talk to TheMan (see here for episode one , two , and many more I could not relocate), it seems I might be in for more of the same trouble. Since I have not seen him for some time (almost 3 years), I decided that I should tell him about FB and that was how we got to talking. This was because he seemed fond of FB, though not so fnd of the 'dirty' cat Screaming Banshee aka Megat. (when Megat was still living in the carpark)
Then he asked me for my email and no, which I gave as I had asked him to watch out for Minah as one of the old men in the estate had tried to scare me with "Don't feed. Wait the police catch you!" It would seem churlish to not give him my email address nor my number after that :(
Then he asked if he could help me with the cats. I told him I now have only 2 of 4 and so didn't need any help but his over-friendliness is making me uneasy. I remembered once he told me that he had followed me about when I was feeding the Wild Bunch in the evening to see that I was safe. I do not know what he would have done if I was 'not' safe though as he is no spring chicken!
I merely said that instead of helping me, he could help CWS and I would help him get in touch with our rep.

Tuesday After thoughts

Akha children with their pet dogs in Chiang Rai

I finally got around to calling someone recommended by D regarding the TC problem as someone told me tonight, when I was on my rounds, that the 'uncle' told her (yeah, long-winded tale) that the TC people would be rounding up the cats. She didn't know the dates of course as the 'uncle' didn't know either. This 'uncle' is the same man who cleans the area. I was afraid for the Wild Bunch but figured that just being afraid is not going to cut it. The contact said that when the TC has complaints about any of the cats in our area, they would inform him about it and he also told me, much to my relief, that there has been no such incident that he knows of. He promised to call the TC and then tell me about it. I am very much relieved. The contact also said that Jurong Fishery is no place to send any cat.

It struck me that whatever happens, The Man would would have achieved his goal - of getting rid of SB from the carpark. But I think she needs to live somewhere else as the carpark is dangerous for anyone. After her spaying, I am looking to rehome her if her bloodwork is okay as she is sweet eventhough she looks like a gangster kitty. I think she may have some issues with living with other cats though. By the way, those wounds on SB's back might be caused by car exhausts. I am taking it one day at a time.

Last Post for Saturday

Ok. This is an old photo but I am still cute...

I posted this old pic of Ms Akira on Catster and I can't believe that as I am typing this, she has so many requests from other cats (and their owners) to be friends. My cat has more friends than I have!

An aside: The Cat Saga

I have decided to speak to the people living in this block and of course people who use the carpark about the supposed cat problem. I thought I should have other points of view and not only The Man's point of view. Before I fed the Wild Bunch, I met my neighbour, who is also a cab driver. I asked him about the poo situation. He said that there were instances of cat poo at the ends of the car park, towards the staircases but he also said that not ALL was cat poo. Some came from 2-legged mammals - human. As I had suspected and once or twice, seen.

The Man replied to my email and said that he did NOT inform the 'authorities' about the cats. He said he merely called the people in-charge of cleaning the carpark to complain about the poo. Huh? Wouldn't that be the 'authorities'? Surely they would be hired by the TC. So isn't it the same as calling the 'authorities'?

Tiga Kucing (Three Cats)

Hmmpf...curioser and curioser

The Saga of the Wild Bunch and The Man reads like a soap opera. On Friday afternoon, I thought I would buy groceries and cat food. On the way home, I saw the 'uncle' who cleans the area as well as the car park. Who else would know better what goes on in the dark recesses of the carpark area I thought. So I asked him if indeed there is a lot of defecation in the carpark. He told me that now, there is none and last time, there was only a little bit. I told him about The Man and what he had said about the little black cat. "Tiga kucing...satu dah takda" (3 cats, one no more) HUH!

Shocked, I asked him again if he has seen four cats but he was adamant there are only 3 and he described the Wild Bunch (minus SB) He told me either she has gone away or she has hidden herself very well as he has not seen her for a while. He told me FB stays in the carpark and Little Calico at the void deck. He told me he has never seen the cats poo-ing in the carpark but has seen 'kucing putih' (white cat) poo-ing on the grass near my flat. I suppose he means Little Calico.

I was a little worried that he says only 3 cats but I had fed SB the day before so I was sure she has not been kidnapped by anyone. Later that night, I heard her screaming (much to my relief) and fed her a full bowl of Fisherman's Basket. When I came back from feeeding Casanova, she was nowhere to be seen so I cleared up and rang my keys. She came screaming downstairs and polished off the rest of Casanova's dinner. I wiped her down and put more antiseptic on the rest of her patches where I could see dry blood but they are all healed. I think the scabs just need to fall off naturally. She followed me up the stairs but did not come out of the carpark to follow me the rest of the way. Thank goodness.
