Otherworld Goblins and Crooked Dice Ettin

Apologies life has been just super busy of late so the blog has gone the back burner a bit. I went to the 7TV Fantasy event back in July over at Wargames Foundry and it was fantastic as usual! So good to see so many friends and play some casual games of 7TV. I managed to find enough time between things to get my goblin warband cast all finished off along with an Ettin (Ogre in the game). I'll try and get a write up on the blog with some of the pics. There were some amazing casts and boards all done to a fantastic standard.

Otherworld Miniatures Chieftain.

Otherworld Miniatures Shaman

Otherworld Miniatures Goblin Archers

Otherworld Miniatures Goblin Sub Chief

Crooked Dice Ettin (Resin)

The Complete Warband I took on the day. There were another 7 Goblins at one point but I change my mind and chose another co star instead as I didn't fancy moving around that many figures. Overall they did quite well. I'll do a more thorough write up in the coming weeks.

The 40 Rating Cast was below.

Wolfish Warlord
Vicious Henchman
Tormented Seer
Goblin King
6x Goblin Warriors
2x Goblin Sneaks (archers)
Shaman

There are quite a few 7TV events coming up.

7TV Pulp at Board in Brum (Walsall) in September
Everything is Better with Monkeys 17th September (Tabletop Republic in High Wycombe)
Doctor Who Day 2022 26th November (Lenton, Nottingham)
Bears Army 7TV Toy Drive (Charity Event in Stoke on Trent) 3rd December

Crooked Dice Goblin King

Concentrating on getting the remaining Goblins finished I got the Goblin King on Thorn by Crooked Dice finished. It was a gorgeous model to finish and I can't wait to have him lead his horde at the 7TV Event in July! I also picked up a few Otherworld minis I was after after they recently announced a price increase. So I have another Goblin Shaman to paint up and I got a druid and some giant Owls which I think will get added to my Elven Warband.

The throne is a gorgeous sculpt in its own right it has so many fab details from all the tiny faces dotted about to the Dwarf being crushed a top a bed of skulls. You can't see in the pics below but behind the King himself there is another row of skulls.

I plan on taking a small board to the event but I don't have much Fantasy specific Terrain so I pick up some generic ruins by Renedra. They were quite easy to trim off, clean and assemble them all just spend a casual evening watching telly while I did it. I am undecided on whether to base the loose wall sections as I don't think they will be very stable during play.

This is one each of the frames. The walls on the left side are what I think need basing and it will fit in better with the other pieces. I'm hoping once painted they will mix in with my LOTR Ruins

Crooked Dice Goblins

Work is steadily progressing with my Goblin Horde. I've managed to get the bulk of the warriors done during this month. I've started the two archers, chieftain and sub chief from Otherworld. The Goblin King is also underway having got his throne finished. Now beginning work on the King himself!

With the warriors I kept a similar colour scheme to my first batch but used more green and red. Mixing it all up so they appear like a rabble but with unifying colours. I used less browns and creams on this batch. Mixing them in with the ones I did previously I think they fit in quite well.

The Kings Throne. Such a gorgeous sculpt I had to paint them separately as there are just so many nice details on the the throne itself. I decided to paint the skulls as bone rather than wood as I think it gives a nicer contrast than all just being wood.

Crooked Dice Goblin Missile Troops

Happy weekend folks. Got the last of my goblins I own finished this week. The Misslie armed goblins come equipped with bows and slings. I just have two packs to pick up from Crooked Dice and this will complete my colletion of all the infantry. I do need to get some Wolfriders as well at some point.

It seems Otherworld replaced these with new sculpts they are kind of cool but also kind of expensive. I may get some in the future but there is a lot from CD I want. Ogre's and Orcs being high up on that list.

The playtesting of 7TV Fantasy is really cool and I am really enjoying it. Looking forward to its release next year very much so.

All my Goblins so far. With a King and Shaman

Crooked Dice Goblin King and Wizard

To tell the honest truth I have had these half painted for ages and recently I have been involved with play testing the 7TV Fantasy rules. so suitably inspired and digging around for models I found these and got them finished off so I can play with nice painted toys. Originally they were all from Otherworld but they have been sold on to Crooked Dice and have just been rereleased via kickstarter.

These others I finished a good while ago and its nice that they all still match. Next up is some missile armed goblins.

Otherworld Goblins Part 1 and Dad-Daughter project update.

I've finally gotten around to finishing off some goblins for my Fantasy gaming I think I bit off more than I could chew trying to do them all at once and so have split it in half. I am gong to do a few other figures from other ranges before painting the second half.

What you can see here is Goblin Warriors 2 pack and Half of the Goblins command pack (Bodyguard and Sub Chief or Champion as I like to think of him probably Oldhammer thinking ...) I have the Chieftain and Shaman left to do and a the goblin missile troops pack (2 bow and 2 slings). Once these 12 are finished I hope to reward myself with the other two goblin warrior packs bringing the total of goblins upto 20.

They are all cracking sculpts

I've tried a different method with the below mainly zooming in and then cropping using the s/w on my phone. Undecided still.

You'll notice the Dad- daughter project tag has been added and is in the title again. My Daughter Carmen is painting her other Young Fire elementalist (yay) We plan to do some Fantasy gaming together using some of my Otherworld adventurers as a sort of ad hoc town militia to back up the two mages. I am looking at various rulesets at the moment for it. With possibly using Frostgrave as the D20 takes out some of the predictability it seems.

WIP but we hope to finish her soon.

The First Fire Elementalist (called Elsa :P)

Anyway hope your all enjoying the lovely weather were having in the UK at the moment and talking of which this will be my last past for a couple of weeks whilst we go away on our Jollies to the seaside for a bit of R&R and family time.
