Bit of this, bit of that

An eclectic range of figures came off my bench in the past couple of weeks. First off, some Necron conversions - flayed ones and deathmarks converted from warrior bodies - to add a sniper team and some melee to my Necron kill team for the Urban Conquest campaign I have started with a few buddies.

Some ECW commanders, including two different Rupert's, a Lord Byron and a Lord Minimus.

And a bunch of French gendarmes for KoW historical late medieval armies. Nice figures from Foundry.

And a Bolt Action 28mm grenadier test figure.

Royalist ECW Regiments

I have been busy getting ECW troops painted now that I have committed to co-running a big game of King and Parliament in May. Here we have my last regiment of foot, two regiments of horse and some dragoons - all Warlord figures. I reckon I have painted more Warlord ECW figures than any other range. I have sizable Scots, Royalists and Parliament armies, and have painted two other ECW armies for other folks! I know every mm of these guys...

ECW Royalists and the Witch King

I am putting a bit of a push on to paint up a Royalist ECW army for the upcoming MayDay game event in Edmonton in 2 months time using King and Parliament rules. Here are two regiments of foot (Warlord Games) done as Rupert's "Blewcoates" and Newcastle's regiment in white. In here is also a Witch King model I did some time ago but forgot to blog - so here he is!

Afrika Korps support, modern Soviets and Harquebusiers

I've been remiss at updating my blog with completed stuff. Here we have some 15mm Flakwagens to help shield my tanks from Hurricane tank-busters:

A platoon of airmobile Soviet infantry with support weapons in 15mm for Team Yankee by PSC - these are good sculpts. In the background are a couple of scenic billboards produced by Battlefront. I have magnetized a variety of in period 1980s posters for them:

And a few Afrika Korp reinforcements, a couple more tanks from Zvezda and some prime movers for my 88s.

And finally, a unit of 28mm TYW Harquebusiers by Warlord who I will use a dragoons for my ECW armies.

Middle Earth, ECW and modern air support

I recently could not resist picking up the new Middle Earth Pelennor Fields box set from GW - I just loved those LOTR models and the Strategy Game was really very good. This new version binds all of the rules changes from the recent editions and the Hobbit, as well as releasing some models I have always coveted - specifically the Nazgul and a Mordor Troll. I haven't started on that stuff yet, but it inspired me to go through my remnants box and find the plastic Fellowship set which I painted as a warm-up. Here they are, needing no introductions:

I also have a considerable pile of ECW/TYW kits obtained in trade and barter from a pal, and I finally got to doing the box of Cuirassiers from Warlord for my Parliamentarians:

And finally, I picked up this 1:100 Harrier GR7 model from Revell at the local hobby store for my Team Yankee NATO forces. It was $12 - a box of two planes from Battlefront is upwards of $50 in my neck of the woods. It is a pre-painted snap-fit model (designed for kids) so it's underwhelming, I could repaint it but then I would need to get new decals. For the amount of time it will be on the table, I can live with it!

ECW Dragoons

Here is a unit of ECW Dragoons from Warlord Games in 28mm painted for my chum Jonathan - the box includes 12 mounted and 12 foot models that more or less match in their equipment, so I gave them the same hats to represent mounted and dismounted troopers.

28mm HYW, 10mm ECW, and 6mm WW2...

Once again, a bit of this and a bit of that. Looks pretty ocd - but hey - I'm never bored with it! Starts with French HYW foot knights in 28mm by Old Glory, followed by some 10mm ECW artillery...:

Then a batch of Heroics and Ros WW2 Italians - which again, I was very impressed with.

10mm WW2, ECW and 28mm medievals

All over the place this week -starting with a 1/144 Zvezda I-16 Soviet fighter I picked up at the local hobby store for air support for BattleGroup Kursk games:

Then I dabbled a bit with airbrush to repaint an old minifigs Matilda II model - may have been one of the first WW2 minis I ever painted. Used blue-tak masking to get the camo scheme - worked quite nicely. Below is the result (left on the base) beside a second Matilda painted > 10 years ago.

Then I did a couple more regiments of 10mm Parliament pike and shot bases:

And finally a unit of mercenary late medieval crossbowmen from Perry and a few spare Old Glory crossbowmen to fill out some units for a HYW project that is getting close to making it to the table.
