Belated updates - ASOAIF and Bolt Action

I have been hobbying and playing for the past two months (although FTF gaming is over for the time being, thanks Omicron!), but seem to have lost my will to post on my blog. So, here are some belated updates.

Tully Sworn Shields:

Savage Cave Dwellers and some NCUs

Commandos for my Bolt Action British:

Bolt Action French - these are Crusader with a 3d printed flamethrower ordered from Etsy:

Wargames Atlantic (nice figs!!) Senegalese for my Bolt Action French army:

Sidekick for the flamethrower - I thought the cigarette nicely complements the gas mask

And some Warlord Games New Kingdom Egyptians for something different:

And some shots of the 13.5mm ACW project - cavalry from Kallistra to go with the Warlord Epic troops

Sternguard et al.

More stuff coming off the bench at a steady clip, starting wth some MkIII marines done as sternguard veterans for my Imperial Fists army - they did well on the weekend but died.

Another regiment of French for Lasalle - these are Italeri - two more to go!

Byzantine 10mm skirmishers, this wraps up both armies for MeG - just need to do command stands, and for the rules to actually arrive.

In the background I have been painting some 28mm Warlord Ancient Britons for a chum in exchange for lead. Because I need more lead...!?

And the US Airborne Bolt Action project ticks along - here we have another fire team and a 57mm ATG.

Royalist ECW Regiments

I have been busy getting ECW troops painted now that I have committed to co-running a big game of King and Parliament in May. Here we have my last regiment of foot, two regiments of horse and some dragoons - all Warlord figures. I reckon I have painted more Warlord ECW figures than any other range. I have sizable Scots, Royalists and Parliament armies, and have painted two other ECW armies for other folks! I know every mm of these guys...

ECW Royalists and the Witch King

I am putting a bit of a push on to paint up a Royalist ECW army for the upcoming MayDay game event in Edmonton in 2 months time using King and Parliament rules. Here are two regiments of foot (Warlord Games) done as Rupert's "Blewcoates" and Newcastle's regiment in white. In here is also a Witch King model I did some time ago but forgot to blog - so here he is!

ECW Dragoons

Here is a unit of ECW Dragoons from Warlord Games in 28mm painted for my chum Jonathan - the box includes 12 mounted and 12 foot models that more or less match in their equipment, so I gave them the same hats to represent mounted and dismounted troopers.

Phoenix Guard, FOW and TYW Swedes

Flipping around between projects over the last couple of weeks - starting with a batch of 2nd hand and refurbished High Elf Phoenix Guard - these are old GW metals that I stripped and repainted.

Then I made a start on a mid-war FOW project - a company of 15mm Battlefront Grenadiers for a mid-war infantry company I am putting together to play 4th edition:

And finally in the last week I took on a job to paint some TYW Swedes and Imperials for a friend - there are very familiar Warlord 28mm models - same plastics as the ECW troops with some different helmets, command and some metal foot figures.

Warlord Early Imperial Romans

This is the last box of Imperial Legionnaires from Warlord and finishes my EIR army in 28mm. I'll assemble all of it for pics in the next week or so.

Here we have 11 bases of regular old legion including an extra command stand. I think they look spiff - now if I can only settle on a ruleset I like for them. I have ample colourful enemies for them, including Picts, Gauls and a Sassanid army in progress.

28mm Warlord Legionnaires

Here we have a box of 30 Early Imperial Roman legion by Warlord. The figures are good, the shield transfers look nice but were a complete pain in the butt - they don't adhere well to the curved surface. I tried all the tricks - pva, gloss undercoat, Future, vinegar to help soften. Any hints? I can't seem to find and microset or microsol anywhere local, but maybe that is what I need.
