More different stuff

Some refurbuished LOTR figs for a change:

Getting near the end of the Arab Conquest 10mm project - here are some archers and cavalry, really only need to do command stands to be able to play MeG

A Bolt Action Russian who somehow fell off the table and didn't get finished in my last round of painting Soviets -

and the next batch of 101 Airborne for Bolt Action - a half squad and mortar team

Soviets, a Stormraven, and other Stuff!

I have been behind in posting, but productive given options for what to do in my spare time!

First off is a spare BMP I had kicking around for Team Yankee. Did both hulls so it could stand in for either a BMP-1 or BMP-2.

Then a random   Bones model - in this case the Eye of the Beholder which I will probably use in one of my Kings of War armies as some kind of monster. I think he came out pretty well.

An Ironclad Dreadnought - who will be a passenger on the last piece of my Imperial Fists army - the Stormraven (below). The plan is to drop this little angry bar fridge in the backfield of the opponent riding shotgun with a squad of Terminators up nice close and personal.

Arm options:

And here is a batch of 10mm light horse for my Byzantine project that have been half done for eons. Finished them off. I am quite looking forward to the launch of the new version of MeG (Mortem et Gloriam) this weekend which I want to try for my 10mm stuff.

And of course the Stormraven. This has been in progress for quite a while. Lots of detail and with all the doors and windows - painted all of the interior as well. This completes my 2k of Imperial Fists. Now I just need the isolation to end so I can play again!!!

10mm Byzantines

And now for something completely different - Byzantines! This is progress on a large lot of Old Glory 10mm figs that I picked up some time ago. I like the look of 10mm armies as they are a nice compromise between the massed look of 6mm - which I find very small to paint - and 15mm which take a lot more time to paint per figure. Especially the OG 10mm infantry figs in strips which paint up so quickly. Now - I also have some Goths painted previously as well as a whole Arab Conquest army to paint as opponents, but I am unsure of which rules they are suited for. Maybe Sword and Spear?

Bit of this, bit of that

An eclectic range of figures came off my bench in the past couple of weeks. First off, some Necron conversions - flayed ones and deathmarks converted from warrior bodies - to add a sniper team and some melee to my Necron kill team for the Urban Conquest campaign I have started with a few buddies.

Some ECW commanders, including two different Rupert's, a Lord Byron and a Lord Minimus.

And a bunch of French gendarmes for KoW historical late medieval armies. Nice figures from Foundry.

And a Bolt Action 28mm grenadier test figure.

Lots of stuff - 28mm TYW, 10mm medieval fantasy, 15mm FOW...

It's been a while since my last update, December always seems to be a busy month, but a variety of stuff came off the table.

First we have a unit of 28mm Swedish Pike and Shot (Warlord) completed for a friend - familiar figures, as I have probably painted more of these than anything else, but the steel helmets give then a very uniform and distinctive appearance.

I also did some 10mm fantasy and medieval stuff - Elven cavalry and Treemen by Pendraken and I did a few stands of Old Glory Byzantines.

And a pair of Battlefront 15mm FOW tanks for my mid-war Grenadier company

And finally, an unusual story. This week I ordered an Arab Conquest army to fight the Byzantines. Strangely, PayPal held my payment for 72 hours while they reviewed whether my transaction "violated the terms of agreement". WTF?!?!?! This has never happened to me before after perhaps 10 years of regular PayPal use. I suspect it is because the order contained words "Islamic" "war" "muslim" "arab"etc... and somehow triggered an AI filter that marked it as a suspicious international transaction. Good think I didn't order a model of Isis (as in the Greek goddess...).

CSIS must have been disappointed to find out it was for a couple of hundred 10mm wargame figures!

10mm WW2, ECW and 28mm medievals

All over the place this week -starting with a 1/144 Zvezda I-16 Soviet fighter I picked up at the local hobby store for air support for BattleGroup Kursk games:

Then I dabbled a bit with airbrush to repaint an old minifigs Matilda II model - may have been one of the first WW2 minis I ever painted. Used blue-tak masking to get the camo scheme - worked quite nicely. Below is the result (left on the base) beside a second Matilda painted > 10 years ago.

Then I did a couple more regiments of 10mm Parliament pike and shot bases:

And finally a unit of mercenary late medieval crossbowmen from Perry and a few spare Old Glory crossbowmen to fill out some units for a HYW project that is getting close to making it to the table.

28mm late medievals - HYW

I diverted to the age of Joan of Arc to do a couple of units of 28s for a Hundred Years War project that has been on the workbench for about 5 years. Eventually I would like to try a game using To The Strongest. I think my English are more or less complete - now need more kniggots and Genoese crossbowmen for the French.

The figures are Old Glory knights and the archers are the GW Bretonians plus some of those Battlemaster archers wearing silly outfits with a bit of conversion work.
