Recall of Bruno Barreiro is happening again. By Geniusofdespair

My picture of Bruno Barreiro.
Hi all. I was just informed that there is a Facebook page to recall County Commissioner Bruno Barreiro. Everyone doesn't have Facebook get a web page too!

My question is: Where is your petition?  I think this is an effort of neophytes with good intentions. Someone help them.

I am all for recalling the guy most responsible for the Marlin's horrible contract that we will paying for for eons, but the people on the Facebook page are most horrified by him leaving seniors living in deplorable conditions.  Good luck but get that petition out! I was part of the last recall. We lost by a couple of hundred votes. He is not easy to get people to sign for. He is popular for some unknown reason.

Update on the Recall of Lynda Bell. By Geniusofdespair

My hopes are shattered...dashed...I knew it was too good to be true. Damn these people for offering us  a string of hope and then yanking it away...
Statement by Miami Economic Sustainability Alliance on
The Recall of Commissioner Lynda Bell:

Before proceeding with the recall of County Commissioner Lynda Bell, the Miami Economic Sustainability Alliance (MESA) will wait to see that the Miami-Dade Public Library and fire rescue services are not cut when the County Commission adopts the final budget on September 19, 2013. “This budget process has been a disaster, and it is hard to believe what they tell us,” said Deborah Dion, President of MESA.

“We are immensely satisfied that a majority of the County Commission, without Lynda Bell, were willing to send a second tax notice to correct the problems created by Mayor Gimenez. Rather than spend $700,000 to correct the millage, as if by magic, the Mayor pulled millions of dollars out of his hat to balance the budget without cutting any services. Our participation in the recall effort is all about protecting basic services to the community,” said Fred Frost, Vice President of MESA.

We are waiting to learn the final results of the second budget hearing before we consider re-filing the recall petition.

Why don't you recall her for voting to lift a 30 year deed restriction, or for other annoying stuff she has done like trying to throw DERM under the bus (Moss quote) or reviving the 8 1/2 square mile mess or for refurbishing a new office for over $100,000 that she didn't need.

Want to get more involved in the Lynda Bell Recall? by Geniusofdespair

Lynda Bell
Miami Economic Sustainability Alliance, as soon as the recall petition is certified by County Clerk Harvey Ruvin, will go into full gear.  They will be accepting checks and training volunteer petition gathers.  Petitions in Miami Dade County need to be notarized. Not the person signing - the person collecting, so there is a bit of training for collectors.

Unless you live in district 8 you cannot sign this petition. However, you can either send a check to hire petition gatherers or you can take a trip down there to District 8 and gather signatures. I will probably do both.  Even if Lynda Bell does get reelected after the recall, it does damage a politician, make no mistake. Ask Natacha Seijas who faced a recall petition twice.

Deborah Dion is the coordinator.  Email dion.deborah@gmail.com for more information.

Lynda Bell is the target of the Recall. By Geniusofdespair

Talk about the seas parting for me, Lynda Bell was picked to be recalled. Where can I sign----actually I can't sign, don't live in the district but I can go to the district and get signatures.

The groups doing the recall may not be serious but I am. This better not be a publicity stunt I have my wallet out.

Part of Lynda Bell's Statement:

"Regrettably, this ill-conceived plot will only serve as a distraction for others to galvanize and try to remove an elected public official who has diligently worked towards the betterment of the community and has always put the people first. In the meantime, I will continue to serve the residents of my Commission district with the same level of excellence that they have come to expect and so richly deserve.”

RECALL PETITION: Please, Let it be Lynda Bell. By Geniusofdespair

On Friday, September 6, the leaders of two Miami-Dade County community groups will file a recall petition form with the Clerk of the Circuit Court to have it reviewed for legal sufficiency. The Miami-Dade County Commissioner whose name will be placed on the petition form will be chosen at the time of filing. Press conference at 1pm. I love this move. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Norman Braman's Folly. By Geniusofdespair

Rather than doing a recall of  County Commissioner Bruno Barreiro and other County Commissioners, Norman Braman opted to run candidates against the sitting County Commissioners. He supported Former State Rep. Luis Garcia against Bruno. Bad move to run hand-picked candidates, it cost his PAC Change Miami-Dade Now!. Inc. $559,457.16. He also spent on the individual campaigns probably about $30,000 in each district -- he had 4 candidates.  All his candidates lost.  He underestimated the well-oiled machine of the sitting Commissioners.

With all the money Braman spent, he could have given all the sitting commissioners a scarlet letter: A recall. With funds it is not hard to do a recall. Even if the Commissioners won in the end, overcoming a recall in a reelection, their careers would have been forever tarnished.  Natacha Seijas had 2 recalls and the second time was the charm -- she was thrown out by a wide margin. Norman: It is still not too late to recall Pepe Diaz.

Reasons to Recall Some County Commissioners. By Geniusofdespair

For these unpardonable crimes I think the following County Commissioners should be recalled:

Pepe Le Pew Diaz: For his misuse of the word "wisdom" when referring to his cohorts on the County Commission. Also for his April 8 memo stalling on charter change.

Javier Souto: For his so-not-clever euphemism for Whites - "The wine and cheese set, living east of U.S. 1." Also for his painfully long - albeit funny - tirades that almost always mention Cuba.

Joe Martinez
: For the sweetheart deal he got from a developer for land and then the even better deals he got from contractors while building his home. Also for his steadfast commitment to move the Urban Development Boundary.

Bruno Barreiro: Where do I begin? How about the last thing he did. He tried to allow cities to opt out of the County sign ordinance. As Chair of the Commission, he also stopped discussion during the Marlins hearings.

Lynda Bell: For the loudest yes to move the Urban Development Boundary. Also for her thinly veiled attacks on DERM.

Barbara Jordan: For repeatedly calling her brother (Mayor for Life Otis Wallace of Florida City), when he came before the County Commission, "Mr. Mayor." Definitely one for the pompous record books. Also, for voting for an item when her sister was a lobbyist for the developer.

Drama at County Hall today ... by gimleteye

There is a rumor that the unreformable majority of the county commission may appoint Alex Penelas as interim county mayor this morning, pending a county-wide election. I am curious to see the commission at work, without the heavy presence of former commissioner Natacha Seijas. You will know me by the blue HAZMAT suit I will wear and a laptop wrapped in clear plastic.

It should be self-evident why ordinary citizens with nothing to personally gain from the outcome would want to protect themselves from the radioactive waste of the ethically challenged, unreformable majority. What is not so clear is why anyone would waste their time. On the other hand, it is an instructive lesson in civics and there ought to be a requirement at Miami Dade high schools where students choose an issue-- say, on rock mining for instance, or nuclear power at Turkey Point or the UDB-- and observe the county commission deliberate and then give their report in a written thesis; a prerequisite for graduation. These students, too, would wear HAZMAT suits at County Hall. Over the 'down' escalator from the ground floor to the hearing chambers a decontamination sprayer has been installed. At the bottom of the escalator yellow dotted lines lead to an area to dump Tyvek coveralls, gloves and masks to be recycled. Always be recycling, right?

Penelas was the worst of the worst, when he was county mayor as might have been predicted by the solid phalanx of lobbyists who hung out like vultures on the 29th floor. News at the Herald that this once promising Democrat has been loan-sharking in the wilds of Hialeah for collapsed real estate deals while pretending on Miami-Dade politics for Spanish language TV, isn't exactly far from the picture he painted as mayor with highlights such as appointing the former mayor of Homestead to be county manager. Get the drift?

I am with Miami Today publisher Michael Lewis on the issue of Carlos Alvarez who succeeded Penelas, unsuccessfully it turned out. With strong mayor powers, Lewis says, Alvarez could have been much worse and the cronyism and inattention could have been deployed to much worse effects for Miami-Dade. Another rumor circulating, is that Norman Braman is prepared to launch more recall campaigns against sitting commissioners. If the county commission even entertains a discussion this morning about putting Penelas back in-- as an interim "steward" of local government-- I hope Braman will come out like a slingshot in response: I'd suggest going after Joe Martinez or Pepe Diaz first. But Javier Souto might not be bad, either.

If the public had a chance to really, really listen to Souto who would be battling for his political life, voters might finally get the point.

Pepe Le Pew Diaz's Memo Says Let's Wait On Charter Change. By Geniusofdespair

Norman Braman, they have not learned their lesson. We need another recall. These commissioners just don't get it. Any excuse not to change the charter.

Read this memo from Pepe Le Pew. If any of you believe he wants to institute procurement reform and implement campaign finance reform, I have a bridge I can sell you. What he wants is the charter changes that we have on the ballot -- the three good ones -- off the ballot. Once off they will play a waiting game with voters, distracting us with meaningless meeting after meeting until we forget about the charter because we will all be old and feeble.

We don't need no damn Town Hall Meeting to help us, we want these 3 charter changes:

1. Make voter ballot initiatives easier by eliminating a requirement that signatures be notarized; 2. Allow the Charter Review Task Force to bring proposals approved by two thirds of the panel directly to voters; and 3. Put the Inspector General’s Office in the county charter, in a bid to help insulate it from commission meddling.

This memo of Mr. Le Pew is one big STALLING TACTIC.

Let's get to work removing Rick Scott from office. By Geniusofdespair

You know how you go to a movie and you hate it after 5 minutes but assume it will get better so you stay, but it never does get better. That is our future with Rick Scott, I say let's cut our losses early. The Huffington Post calls Rick Scott a Grifter. They say "he has become the very face of buyer's remorse." Carl Hiaasen said in his Sunday column: "Today’s lackluster assemblage in Tallahassee is possibly the worst in modern times, and cannot fairly be compared to anything except a rodeo of phonies and pimps. It’s impossible to remember a governor and lawmakers who were more virulently anti-consumer, and more slavishly submissive to big business."

So what are we to do? There is no recall of a Governor in the Florida constitution, that is why State Senator Gwen Margolis is trying to put it in with legislation. But do we have the time for this lengthy process with all the damage this guy is doing and further, will the State Legislature even put it on the ballot? Tick, tick, tick, time is wasting.

I personally can't wait to find out. Here is my plan. We start a petition campaign to rid Florida of its number one tea bagger with a constitutional amendment. Here in section 3 of the Florida Constitution, it tells us the only legal channel citizens have to turn to:

Initiative — The power to propose the revision or amendment of any portion or portions of this constitution by initiative is reserved to the people, provided that, any such revision or amendment, except for those limiting the power of government to raise revenue, shall embrace but one subject and matter directly connected therewith. It may be invoked by filing with the custodian of state records a petition containing a copy of the proposed revision or amendment, signed by a number of electors in each of one half of the congressional districts of the state, and of the state as a whole, equal to eight percent of the votes cast in each of such districts respectively and in the state as a whole in the last preceding election in which presidential electors were chosen. (That means we only need 676,506 signatures as 8,456,329 voted in 2008).

I presume our petition can say something like: Do you want to remove Rick Scott from office? We would have to make it legally okay. Maybe it has to be specific, like "Any Governor who pleaded the 5th amendment 75 times be removed from office." Or "Any Governor whose company was fined in excess of 1 Billion Dollars be removed from office." I spoke to an attorney who tells me this would raise 'bill of attainder' issues. Ouch! I don't like the sound of that (and don't know what it means). He suggested that we instead simply amend the constitution to end the sitting governor's term 3 days (arbitrary) following the adoption of this amendment, with a special election to be held on date X, with the term of the interim governor to end at the time that the sitting governor's term would have ended.

Or we can wait for Gwen Margolis' legislation (Senate Bills 1688 and 1700 and House Bills 785 and 787) which would be slow because it is a two step process (and I don't think it will be well received by legislators). In Margolis's scenario first we have to get legislators to place the recall Statute on the ballot and then we have to vote for it. Second we have to put Rick Scott's recall on the ballot in a petition drive and then we have to approve that in an election. All that would take too long - about 2 or 3 years at a minimum. I think we can get rid of him with one carefully worded petition drive in a year if we get the unions to help. He has gotten enough unions angry at hi that is for sure. Let them flex their muscle with their numbers and their pocketbooks.

We would have plenty of money to mount a Statewide petition drive with union support, and also the manpower to collect signatures. So, LET'S GET TO WORK!

See Senator Margolis' Senate Bill:

35-01333-11 20111688__
1 Senate Joint Resolution
2 A joint resolution proposing the creation of Section 8
3 of Article VI of the State Constitution to provide for
4 the recall of the Governor, Lieutenant Governor,
5 members of the Cabinet, and legislators.
6
7 Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
8
9 That the following creation of Section 8 of Article VI of
10 the State Constitution is agreed to and shall be submitted to
11 the electors of this state for approval or rejection at the next
12 general election or at an earlier special election specifically
13 authorized by law for that purpose:
14 ARTICLE VI
15 SUFFRAGE AND ELECTIONS
16 SECTION 8. Recall of governor, lieutenant governor, members
17 of the cabinet, and legislators.—
18 (a) Recall is the power of the electors to remove a person
19 from elective office before his or her term expires. The
20 governor, lieutenant governor, members of the cabinet, and
21 legislators may be removed from office by the electors in a
22 recall election. This method of removing persons from elective
23 office is in addition to any other method provided by this
24 constitution or general law.
25 (b) The recall of a public official under this section is
26 initiated by delivering to the Secretary of State a petition
27 containing the name of the person sought to be recalled and the
28 alleged reason for the recall. The sufficiency of the reason is
29 not reviewable. Proponents have 120 days to circulate and file
30 signed petitions, and the Secretary of State shall maintain a
31 continuous count of the signatures certified to that office.
32 (c) A petition to recall a public official other than a
33 legislator under this section must contain signatures from each
34 of the 67 counties in the state, and the signatures must equal
35 15 percent of the total votes cast in the last election for the
36 office. All electors of the state may sign the petition to
37 recall the official. If the recall petition is successful and a
38 recall election is held, all electors in the state may vote in
39 the recall election.
40 (d) A petition to recall a legislator must contain
41 signatures equal to 20 percent of the total votes cast in the
42 last election for the office. Only electors of the district the
43 legislator represents may sign the petition to recall the
44 legislator. If the recall petition is successful and a recall
45 election is held, only electors of the district the legislator
46 represents may vote in the recall election.
47 (e) Notwithstanding any other provision of this
48 constitution or law, if the petition to hold a recall election
49 under this section is successful, the election for a successor
50 to the office shall be held simultaneously with the recall
51 election. The election to determine whether to recall a public
52 official under this section and elect a successor shall be
53 called by the Secretary of State and held not less than 60 days
54 nor more than 80 days after the date of certification of the
55 number of sufficient signatures. However, if the next regularly
56 scheduled election is to be held within 100 days after the date
57 of certification of sufficient signatures, the Secretary of
58 State may schedule the recall election on the same date as the
59 regularly scheduled election. The public official who is the
60 subject of the recall may not be a candidate for the office.
61 (f) If the majority vote on the question is to recall the
62 public official, the official shall be removed and the candidate
63 who receives the highest number of votes cast in the election
64 held simultaneously to fill the vacancy in office shall be the
65 successor for the remainder of the term. If the public official
66 who is the subject of the petition is not recalled, he or she
67 shall be reimbursed by the state for any recall election
68 expenses that were personally and legally incurred and a
69 subsequent recall petition may not be initiated against the
70 official during the remainder of his or her term in office.
71 (g) Additional provisions governing recall under this
72 section may be provided by general law.
73 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following statement be
74 placed on the ballot:
75 CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT
76 ARTICLE VI, SECTION 8
77 RECALL OF GOVERNOR, LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR, MEMBERS OF THE
78 CABINET, AND LEGISLATORS.—Recall is the power of the electors to
79 remove a person from elective office before his or her term
80 expires. This proposed amendment to the State Constitution
81 provides for recall of the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor,
82 any member of the Cabinet, or any legislator at an election. The
83 recall process is initiated when a petition containing the name
84 of the person sought to be recalled and the alleged grounds for
85 the recall is delivered to the Secretary of State. The
86 sufficiency of the reason for the recall is not reviewable. The
87 supporters of the recall measure have 120 days to circulate and
88 file signed petitions with the Secretary of State.
89 This amendment also specifies who is eligible to sign the
90 recall petition and what percentage of the electors must sign
91 the petition for a recall election to take place. If the person
92 who is the subject of the recall petition is a legislator, only
93 electors from the legislator’s district may sign the petition.
94 If the person who is the subject of the recall petition is a
95 public official subject to recall under this amendment other
96 than a legislator, any elector of the state may sign the
97 petition. The same standards apply to who may vote if a recall
98 election is held.
99 Finally, this amendment provides that if enough signatures
100 are collected to require a recall election, the election for a
101 successor to the office, if vacated, will be held at the same
102 time as the recall election. The successor who is elected will
103 serve the remainder of the term. This proposed amendment
104 specifies when the Secretary of State must call the election and
105 provides that the person who is the subject of the recall may
106 not be a candidate for the office. If the person who is the
107 subject of the recall petition is not recalled from office, he
108 or she will be reimbursed for any recall election expenses that
109 were personally and legally incurred. Additionally, if the
110 person is not recalled, a subsequent recall may not be initiated
111 against the person during the remainder of his or her term in
112 office.

Let's Recall Rick Scott. By Geniusofdespair

Here is bill by Senator Margolis. I knew she was good for something:

35-01330-11 20111700__
1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to recall; creating s. 100.365, F.S.;
3 providing procedures for recall from office of the
4 Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, members of the
5 Cabinet, and legislators; requiring that proponents of
6 the recall register as a political committee;
7 prescribing the methods and timeframes for initiating
8 and conducting the recall; providing ballot language;
9 authorizing the adoption of rules; providing a
10 contingent effective date.
11
12 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13
14 Section 1. Section 100.365, Florida Statutes, is created to
15 read:
16 100.365 Recall election of Governor, Lieutenant Governor,
17 members of the Cabinet, and legislators.—
18 (1) In accordance with s. 8, Art. VI of the State
19 Constitution, the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, a member of
20 the Cabinet, or a legislator may be removed from office by the
21 electors before the official’s term expires. A person may be
22 removed from elective office pursuant to the procedures provided
23 in this section. The method of removing persons from elective
24 office provided in this section is in addition to any other
25 method provided by state law.
26 (2) The proponent of a recall petition shall, prior to
27 obtaining any signatures, register as a political committee
28 pursuant to s. 106.03 and submit the text of the proposed recall
29 petition to the Secretary of State, with the form on which the
30 signatures will be affixed, and obtain the approval of the
31 Secretary of State of such form. The Secretary of State shall
32 prescribe by rule the style and requirements of the form in
33 accordance with this section and s. 8, Art. VI of the State
34 Constitution.
35 (3) The recall of a public official is initiated by
36 delivering to the Secretary of State a petition containing the
37 name of the person sought to be recalled and the alleged reason
38 for the recall. The alleged reason for the recall is not
39 reviewable. Proponents have 120 days to circulate and file the
40 signed petitions.
41 (4) A recall petition form circulated for signatures may
42 not be bundled with or attached to any other petition. Each
43 signature shall be dated when signed and shall be valid for the
44 duration of the recall, provided all other requirements of law
45 are met. The proponent shall submit signed and dated forms to
46 the appropriate supervisor of elections for verification as to
47 the number of registered electors whose valid signatures appear
48 on the forms. The supervisor shall promptly verify the
49 signatures within 30 days after receipt of the petition forms
50 and payment of the fee required by s. 99.097. The supervisor
51 shall promptly record, in the manner prescribed by the Secretary
52 of State, the date each form is received by the supervisor and
53 the date the signature on the form is verified as valid. The
54 supervisor may verify that the signature on a form is valid only
55 if:
56 (a) The form contains the original signature of the
57 purported elector.
58 (b) The purported elector has accurately recorded on the
59 form the date on which he or she signed the form.
60 (c) The form accurately sets forth the purported elector’s
61 name, street address, county, and voter registration number or
62 date of birth.
63 (d) The purported elector is, at the time he or she signs
64 the petition, a duly qualified and registered elector authorized
65 to vote in the county in which his or her signature is
66 submitted.
67
68 The supervisor shall retain the signature petitions for at least
69 1 year after the conclusion of the recall process.
70 (5) The Secretary of State shall determine from the
71 signatures verified by the supervisors of elections the total
72 number of verified valid signatures and the distribution of such
73 signatures by county, when appropriate. Upon a determination
74 that the requisite number and distribution of valid signatures
75 have been obtained, the Secretary of State shall at once serve
76 upon the person sought to be recalled a certified copy of the
77 petition and shall notify the Governor that a recall election
78 shall be held in accordance with s. 8, Art VI of the State
79 Constitution.
80 (6) The ballots for the recall election shall state: “Shall
81 .... be removed from the office of .... by recall?” followed by
82 the word “yes” and also by the word “no.” Immediately
83 thereafter, the names of the candidates who are seeking to fill
84 the remainder of that term of office, if vacated, shall be
85 listed.
86 (7) The Secretary of State, as chief election officer of
87 the state, may adopt rules to administer this section.
88 Section 2. This act shall take effect on the effective date
89 of an amendment to the State Constitution approved by the
90 electors at the general election to be held in November 2012
91 which authorizes, or removes impediment to, enactment by the
92 Legislature of the provisions of this act.

I Don't Jump! By Genius of Despair

I arrived at the Miami Voice after election party in Miami Lakes while the media trucks were there filming. I saw my friend Alan- Aka Gimleteye - looking on. We never got closer than a handshake in the 15 years of knowing each other. But on this historic day we hugged. When Vanessa, Heidi, Mimi and Ivette saw me we all came together in a group hug and actually jumped up and down for joy. That is just how happy everyone was to be rid of Natacha.

I would be remiss not to include a big thank you to the legal team led by Ben Kuehne. To our Esquires Kuehne, Pizzi, Reiner and Maestre my heartfelt thanks.

On another note the Miami Herald reported County Manager Burgess is leaving with a platinum parachute of almost half a million dollars -- $3,000 a month in expenses? Gimme a break. By the way, he doesn't qualify for the full retirement package. And people are worried about union pensions? We had better start looking at executive bureaucrat packages.

Ding dong the witch is gone!

Well Vile Natacha Seijas is gone. The fat lady has finally sang her song.

Now I have nothing to write about anymore. It feels so good!

Blow By Blow of Recall Election in Hialeah/Miami Lakes. By Geniusofdespair

(Photo above, the infamous Seijas wagging finger as she lectures you.)

When I get my act together, I will be reporting from Hialeah/Miami Lakes real time, on the Natacha Seijas recall. Will post reports by others till I get there. It it my prediction, if Seijas loses on Absentees - which should come out about by 7:30 - she will lose the election.

9:30 am Vile Natacha Seijas was spotted with two PBA lackeys by the Moors in Hialeah. Turnout is very light so far in Miami Lakes.

11:00 am Union representation is light. At voting district 13, none; Milander in Hialeah 1.

11:45 Vile Natacha Seijas threatened to call the police on Vanessa Brito for using a bullhorn.

Meanwhile at the County Commission meeting, without VNS present, a marjority of the County Commission (9) voted not to let Natacha Seijas distribute $245,000 of her office funds. 3 voted for VNS: Barbara Jordan, Bruno Barreiro and Sally Heyman. See, we should have recalled Bruno.

2:11 All is quiet at Milander Park in Hialeah. A man just walked by -- no English but he voted for recall someone translated for me. Mary who has lived here since she was 2 voted for the recall. A campaign worker estimated over 100 people voted at this location today. There are 4 union people a here and a few people, 4 or 5, paid by Natacha or her PAC. There is one Miami Voice volunteer. Braman's PAC has no one here and the vote no workers have the vote yes signs in a pile on the side of the road.

3:12 Goodlet Park- 239 people have voted out of about 2,000 here. Pretty good for this early in the day on a one issue election. A couple of union people and few Natacha people. The Miami Voice people were here but left. No one from Braman's PAC.

3:37 Just saw Dario Marino. I asked how he thought Natacha was doing. He said "This rabbit has been cooked."

4:00 Miami Lakes Palm Springs North Library - Lots of vote no campaign people here. A lot of Miami Voice volunteers here. The guess here is about 150 people have voted. Met Michael Pizzi's son, nice looking. Miami Lakes is quite busy. The campaign workers for recall said they have good vibes from the people. Turnout is the key. Already heard 2 instances of voter fraud. Two people never got their absentee ballots, they went to vote and were told they already voted. Two people said they have never voted before but they came out for this one.

That is all folks!

- Ivette, Vanessa and Mimi.

Change? by gimleteye

Voters are aching to hold someone accountable for the economic disaster. On a balanced playing field, both Alvarez and Seijas would be recalled. But the playing field is never balanced because of the nuclear arms race in political money. I'm concerned about the influence of unions in these elections. I'm also concerned about the churches. Seijas promised hundreds of thousands of her public stash to churches in return for "getting out the vote". She has out-raised her opponent, Miami Voices, by 10 to 1 according to the Herald. I worry that neither the unions nor the churches show up in public opinion polls. The churches delivered Linda Bell to the county commission, through a stealth effort in South Dade by Seijas to defeat Eugene Flynn. I have a lot more to say on Alvarez, that will wait for the days to come. So far as Seijas is concerned, Eye On Miami has written the book. Her political career couldn't come to an end fast enough, but I am not a voter in Hialeah or Miami Lakes. It is up to them, now.

Seen in the Mayor's Office. By Geniusofdespair

There was a woman passing out Holy Water to the Mayor's staff today. If someone there believes in the miraculous powers of holy water you have to question the quality of the staff.

I am not going to vote tomorrow. I still don't believe the Mayor should be recalled even though he should have listened to me years ago when I said dump Burgess...and the woman with the holy water would be worth dumping too. If i lived in Hialeah, I would have voted twice!

Goodbye Old Girl?? A look back at Natacha Seijas in Pictures. By Geniusofdespair

To celebrate the recall vote tomorrow I decided to take a look back at my favorites photos of Vile Natacha from the Eye on Miami archives:

Hit read more to see the rest....

...and the infamous Miami New Times image - Natacha as the wicked witch of the west...

And from Harry Emilio-Gottlieb

This was my first post about Natacha Seijas:

Natacha Seijas - Vile Miami Dade County Commissioner

Natacha Seijas is a particularly vile and sour woman who is a County Commissioner in Miami Dade County. She is built like a bloated fire plug and has a furrow of frown lines etched on either side of her mouth. She has contempt for people in general and even the manatees can’t escape her crappy disposition. She said: “I am not a lover of manatees, as far as I am concerned they are from Cuba, which was our original animal, and I am glad they are here [but] I want to know how big that herd is because if that herd is way too big it is time to find something else to do with it.”

If I had to rate hateful people: This woman tops the list. And what happens to people who are mean and vile and sour: They get promoted of course!

David Southwell in his own words. By Geniusofdespair

See Yesterday's Post on this guy then read this, his email to our blog (Like his choosing the same name - Miami Voice - has nothing to do with this):

I cannot believe that you would so blatantly misrepresent what I said to you.

I did not say whether I was a Seijas supporter or not. For you to so twist what I said is dishonest and despicable. What I said was: “You also claim that I, David Southwell, am a supporter of Ms. Seijas. You have no information on which to base that statement. I have spoken with her in the past, as my Commissioner, and found her to be helpful, wise, and concerned for the best interest of her constituents, but I have never had a conversation with anyone, except my wife, regarding my opinion of Ms. Seijas. No one, not even Dr. Bennett has asked me about my position on Ms. Seijas or the recall effort of her or Mr. Alvarez. We are focused on other matters. What Dr. Bennett and I are doing, along with a very large group of other people, does not involve Ms. Seijas.”

Regarding the Miami Voice Inc. campaign reports,
(NOTE I NEVER REFERRED TO MIAMI VOICE INC.'S CAMPAIGN REPORT BECAUSE NON-PROFIT CORPORATIONS DON'T FILE CAMPAIGN REPORTS) what I wrote to you is the following: “For example - you say that you have seen the campaign reports for Miami Voice, Inc. Not so, Miami Voice is not yet active and has not filed any campaign reports with anyone. So, you lied!” For you to claim that having seen something filed by Miami Voice PAC is having seen a report from Miami Voice, Inc. (NOT TRUE SOUTHWELL, AGAIN NON-PROFIT CORPORATIONS DON'T FILE CAMPAIGN REPORTS AND YOUR CORPORATION HAS BEEN ACTIVE SINCE 2/18/11 I WROTE MY BLOG IN MARCH) is as disingenuous as everything else you have written since you know full well that it is wrong.

I sincerely hope that you will have the moral fortitude to correct the blatant misrepresentation of my statements that you made on your blog site.

Okay Southwell you have had your say, now get off my blog and go raise money for your non profit...this is your last word here: Believe it or not! It is my understanding that Miami Voice has common law use of the name and your intentional choice of the name for your corporation does not trump their use and could be seen as an attempt to try to confuse the voters.

Underhanded move by (SUPPORTERS/(NOT/MAYBE NOT) Natacha Seijas supporters, David Southwell and David Bennett? By Geniusofdespair

(I am not able to ascertain support so I am going with all three).

Miami Lakes CPA David Southwell, organizer of Christian Financial Fellowship Intl, just opened a Corporation with David Bennett called, of all things, Miami Voice. they must be doing it to steal the thunder from the PAC Miami Voice because Lord knows, there is absolutely no funding benefit. I've seen their campaign reports.

CPA Southwell says the corporation he registered "will promote betterment of Miami Lakes and work with other not for profits to gain grants and other funds to improve the community." Good luck with the funds from non-profits. Has anyone reading this blog post ever tried to get a nickel out of a non-profit?

Asked about this move by Southwell and Bennett, Vanessa Brito, Miami Voice PAC Chairman said:

"I'm not sure what their plans are, but I presume they will misuse the name of the PAC I represent."

Below: Photo of David Bennett talking to Stephen Cody, Natacha Seijas' attorney, on February 7th.
