Rent - La vida es hoy

Rent - La vida es hoy es el nombre con el que se tituló la versión producida en Buenos Aires (Argentina), de la obra original de Broadway. La obra fue estrenada el 26 de marzo de 2008 en Ciudad Cultural Konex, una fábrica que fue transformada y remodelada para cumplir el rol de Centro Cultural, por lo que su estética coincidió con la de la obra. La última función del 2008 fue el día 29 de septiembre, y el 16 de diciembre el elenco ofreció un recital en el Konex donde interpretaron en vivo las canciones de la obra, titulando al evento Rent in Concert.

La puesta en escena estuvo a cargo de Valeria Ambrosio, la dirección de actores de James Murray, dirección musical de Gabriel Goldman y coreografía de Gustavo Carrizo. 

Concluida su primer temporada, Rent, la vida es hoy, se convirtió en la versión más popular fuera de Estados Unidos superando los 20.000 espectadores y las 100 funciones. Para la celebración del primer centenario de funciones Anthony Rapp se presentó en la sala donde interpretó junto al reparto argentino la canción La vie bohème y Seasons of love.

La obra recibió tres premios ACE 2008:

·         «diseño de iluminación» (Sandro Pujía),

·         «coreografía» (Gustavo Carrizo) y

·         «revelación masculina» (Ángel Hernández / Ángel).
