Mucho bardo y pocas nueces es una versión de "Mucho ruido y pocas nueces" de William Shakespeare. que fue representada por primera vez en Londres en el 1600 y es una de las más exitosas comedias del escritor inglés. La versión actual está ambientada en el mundo del cine argentino de los años 40 y en ella se cuenta, en clave musical, las aventuras y desventuras qué sufren los enamorados en busca de conquistar el corazón de las personas que aman. El espectáculo tiene libro de Leo Rizzi, música original en vivo de Axel Otarola y arreglos vocales de Camila Suero. Cuenta, como curiosidad, con una canción escrita por William Shakespeare para la pieza original.

Luego del éxito de Tu falta de querer, habiendo ganado los premios Hugo y Estrella de Mar, la compañía vuelve para ponerse en la piel de los clásicos personajes shakespeareanos. El elenco está por compuesto por Macarena Riesco, Mona De Marco, Camila Suero, Oscar Miño, Axel Otarola y Leo Rizzi, con la asistencia de Santiago Trigo, el diseño de iluminación de Federico Cordeiro y dirección de Leo Rizzi.

Solo quiero que me amen, la nueva comedia musical sobre la vida de Marilyn Monroe, escrita y dirigida por Juan Alvarez Prado, vuelve a estrenarse el próximo sábado 27 de noviembre a las 20, en el emblemático teatro porteño El Picadero.

La obra, que tuvo su debut en 2018, hace un recorrido por la figura de Marilyn, no solo un ícono del cine, sino también el personaje femenino más representativo y querido de toda la historia de la industria hollywoodense, con una muerte tan misteriosa y repentina que deja preguntas sin responder hasta el día de hoy.

Marilyn Monroe pasó gran parte de su niñez en orfanatos hasta que se casó a sus 16 años. En la década del 50, se consagró como la actriz del momento y sus películas recaudaron más de 200 millones de dólares. Así, marcó un antes y un después para la cultura de Hollywood, convirtiéndose en una leyenda de la industria cinematográfica, especialmente después de su muerte, cuando trascendió como un ícono de la cultura pop.

“Marilyn Monroe. El icono femenino más grande del siglo XX. Desde una nueva perspectiva ingresaremos a su mundo interior y podremos concretar un sueño imposible: conocerla en su verdadera intimidad”, dice la sinopsis de Solo quiero que me amen, interpretada por la actriz Daniela Pantano y el actor Pedro Velázquez.

An unlikely encounter of a unique project with an all-star cast! Steve Nieve, Elvis Costello's long-time pianist and music director, and Nieve's partner Muriel Teodori, a film/theatre director, began working on Welcome To The Voice ten years ago. She wrote the libretto, he composed the music, and together they developed and shaped the project that is an opera in homage to the human voice. It is a very accessible opera on one CD - one that will interest both the pop and the classical consumer. Welcome To The Voice is a multifaceted opera that welcomes voices from different musical worlds. It lives on the juxtaposition of men who have rough, untrained voices, coming from jazz or rock (Robert Wyatt, Elvis Costello, Sting), with women who have classically trained voices (Barbara Bonney, Amanda Roocroft, Nathalie Manfrino, Sara Fulgoni). The score has been composed for the Brodsky Quartet while Marc Ribot, Ned Rothenberg, and Steve Nieve himself improvise with a jazz feeling. Apart from the music itself, the beauty of this project lies in the profound idealistic - even romantic - themes that transcend all levels of the work. The catchphrase is: 'unlikely encounter'. Seemingly opposing music genres, classes, artists, languages, and codes are unified in the name of love and art. It's no wonder that the project has attracted all the high-profile artists that collaborate in the opera and contribute to the uniqueness of this work.

Composed by longtime Elvis Costello keyboardist Steve Nieve and set to a surreally episodic, multilingual libretto by his life partner, Muriel Teodori, this singspiel/dramatic oratorio describes the obsessive passion of an opera-loving steelworker of Greek extraction (Sting) for a diva (Barbara Bonney), a not-unheard-of situation in either real or reel life. Although Dionysos (the hero) seems to hover on the edge of becoming a textbook psycho-stalker (the cover photo of a hard-hat kissing his saw does little to dispel this impression), all ends well, if unbelievably. Blue-collar boy not only narrowly avoids incarceration (Elvis Costello appears as a police officer) but even gets next to the ermine-collar girl. Scored for string quartet with piano and reed improvisations, the work's avowed raison d'être was to allow voices from various backgrounds, classically trained and otherwise, to encounter one another on a level playing field. This might have been more successful if the singers were better matched in terms of texture and production. As it is, the sopranos soar effortlessly, allowing the music to do the work, while the male pop stars take the opposite approach, working up a sweat at the drop of an emotion. Musically, despite arresting juxtapositions between conventionally melodic power-pop and 20th-century atonality--to say nothing of a blazing concluding "yes" sung by all involved--the composition comes across more as a study in parallels rather than a unifying force. But even so, the point does get across, and so ambitious and heartfelt an adventure is always worth checking out.

“Al loco le doy razón/ al bárbaro le doy paz./ Mi canto y mi corazón/ son para los demás”: con este himno, ‘’Para los demás’', de donde surge el título, comienza el nuevo espectáculo ideado por Pablo Gorlero quien vuelve a hacer lo que más le gusta: la curaduría de sus autores preferidos, de las canciones olvidadas o prohibidas, de los temas más vibrantes del teatro musical. Como en De eso no se canta, Identidad testimonial o Mi don imaginario (en homenaje a Hugo Midón), por nombrar las últimas producciones, selecciona y borda a su manera y una a una las melodías elegidas, con la colaboración de un gran músico como Juan Ignacio López.
