- Ready for cooler weather to arrive already.
- My bro and SIL... (& their ADORABLE dog, Abby)... spent the weekend here. While eating at a pizza restaurant, I heard a thick SCOTTISH BROGUE RIGHT NEXT TO ME!
Unfortunately, the Scot was bald as a newborn babe and too old for me but his brogue was very thick. I only wish the music wasn't so loud in there b/c I had to strain to eavesdrop hear him, even though he was right next to me.
What's up with all the guys with accents being bald around here anyway? First, Gary the Australian that used to live behind us was bald... then some Scottish guy with his wife comes to our door, mistaking our address for someone else's... then this guy at the restaurant yesterday.
- We also went to Old Town Spring because my brother wanted to go to a Classic Cars Show that they were having. It was so very HOT that day. (Again, I'm ready for cooler weather). I got a killer headache afterward.
It was nice visiting Thads again. They had a lot of Halloween and Christmas decor for sale. I also saw this huge quote pillow that I wanted, but it was $130!!!! I also fell in love with another lamp there, but couldn't find a price.
Which is just as well.
- Finished creating my grandmother's poetry website the other day. I'm not crazy in love with the layout and I can't stand the look of it (colors) on the laptop.
I had a hard time choosing between two different layouts, so I had my mother choose her favorite.
- What is up with Photobucket lately?! A lot of my graphics won't load.

Look at those blue eyes! He is so gorgeous, and to think he comes with a Scottish lilt.
Insert dreamy sigh...
I do wish he'd dye his hair back to it's natural coal black color though. I loooove it long, but I'm not a fan of the color. In these pictures it's not too bad.
I can't wait to see Machine Gun Preacher in theaters, even though I know it'll be difficult to watch considering it's a true story.
I still can't believe Gerry is receiving death threats over filming this movie. That makes no sense to me. He had to hire extra bodyguards because of it.

I've never read this author before, but this blog post of hers was shared on Facebook today.

And THIS blog post I found yesterday. Seeing that long list of names really brings it home.

- Went to Borders for the absolutely LAST time. It was pretty crowded, but there was no line. The books were still 80% off, so that surprised me. I really thought they'd be marked down 90% by now.
Now I have NEW books which will replace the used one's I already own:

So far I can't find my used copy of "Love Came Just in Time," and it isn't even listed on my Shelfari site. The thing is I KNOW I read the Kurland story in that book, which means I do own a used copy of it... somewhere.
Either way, at least I now have a brand new copy.
I also now have the new titles below:

- Our house was definitely about to get broken into last night. A neighbor told my Mom today that the other night they heard someone's CELL PHONE ringing in their backyard.
Around here they always jump the fences, too. It happened to our other neighbor a few months ago. They actually saw the whole thing and chased after them.
- The latest Doctor Who episode, "The Girl Who Waited," was pretty good. My only gripe is that part of the beginning was slow, and if it's true that older Amy never existed, then how is it possible that they all remember her?
At first, I thought of the "eye of the storm" explanation which we hear a lot on this show, but then I remembered how when Rory was erased from time The Doctor said she would NOT remember him because it was HER OWN HISTORY which was changing.
So.... this episode should be the same thing, right?
Okay, my head is hurting bad. Gonna go to bed.

I really hope tonight's episode will be better than last week's.
The episode before that - "Let's Kill Hitler" - I liked. (Clips below). FINALLY, we have more answers in connection to River Song. After years of speculation we now know why she can fly the Tardis better than even The Doctor. (I love that we now know what she meant when a few seasons ago she told him - "It's a shame you were BUSY that day"). Honestly, there are a few things in LKH which I really liked. It wasn't the best episode... and I really worried at the beginning... but it was one of the best. We even got to see Rose, Martha and Donna - sort of - for a second.
I do wonder though what it was that The Doctor whispered in River's ear. At first, I assumed it was his real name but I always assumed she got that from the crib in AGMGTW since she can read Gallifreyan. Also, if that's what he whispered her reaction wouldn't have been the way it was in LKH.
And it was strange to see River not exactly knowing what was going on for a change. She didn't even know her own name for cripe's sake! Up until this episode, she was the one with all the "Spoilers."

The air was kind of smoggy around here yesterday. I didn't know until then that a couple of these wildfires aren't that far from us. One was even right here in Montgomery County. 5,712 acres were burned. Still, Thank God the fires here weren't as bad as in Bastrop. I'm so thankful that all WE saw of these fires was a little smog. Otherwise, I would have panicked. So far, one of the fires in Montgomery County is 100% contained, and the other 50% contained.
This is kinda near us, too:
Vids of Bastrop:
That 2nd video creeps me out when we see fire on the road, around the 2 minute mark. I can't understand why these people were driving TOWARDS it!
Click HERE to see the fire activity map and HERE for Updates.
All of this is starting to freak me out a bit, so yesterday afternoon Mom and I swept up all the pine needles and dead vegetation out of the gutters, etc. We're under Mandatory Water Conservation right now, too. Of course, everything is dead anyway. You should see our grass. I think we'll all be fine here, but I'd be a liar if I didn't say I worry a little whenever we leave the house; because of our animals. At least most of our house is brick and we have fire proof shingles. That's a plus.
By the way, some people are so stupid. Here we are in a drought, the worst since 1917, and wildfires stretching all across the state and yet some idiots are smoking inside their cars, flicking cigarette butts out the window! Were they just born stupid, or what?

Regret is currently flowing through this bookworm's veins concerning the closing of Borders.
I hear the romances were 90% off today. Now I'm wishing that I'd bought a few of the titles I already own. The one's I have are used, so it'd be nice to replace them with NEW books. I would also buy a few novels I put back on the shelf simply because I wasn't sure I'd like them.
I'm so stupid, stupid, stupid!
I might have to drop by there tomorrow, just to see if our store is still open at all. This is how it stands now:
1). The store is officially closed.
2). The books I want have been taken into total stranger's homes, either to be read or used as props for the legs of uneven furniture.
3). The books have been packed in boxes to be transported to other book chains where I'll just sneer at their astronomical price tags.
Oh! I was reading "Goodnight Tweetheart" last night, and guess who was mentioned. GERRY! (Not surprised of course, as I already knew Teresa Medeiros was a fan). Which reminds me of how I've read a few books where the author says they had Gerry in mind for the hero in their book. The first which comes to mind is "MacGowan's Ghost" by Cindy Miles.
Ooh, wow! Cindy Miles has the same ipod decor I have on my writing site. Too bad we don't have being published in common. It begins and ends with a pink ipod. Sad.
I guess I'll watch Doctor Who now. I dvr-ed it earlier. I hope it was good!

I never did watch Doctor Who, but here it is 3AM and around 30 minutes ago I finished reading my book.
I'm on here now because of THE ENDING!!! I loved it, and I hated it because there's no full closure or answer. I'm not going to go into detail, as I'm not a fan of spoilers, but GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Update #2 -
Did someone just try to break into our home? As I was typing the above update (to nobody, let's face it. It's 3 AM and not many peeps know about this blog... or would continue reading after being subjected to mindless ramblings such as this one I'm typing right now)... okay, back to my point. I was typing inside this echoey blog when I see Mom downstairs, taking the dogs out for their untimely (sleepy human's perspective) 3 am potty break. Then I see Dad constantly going outside to the backyard, then the frontyard over and over again. Either this was a really, really bad episode of OCD, sleepwalking, or trouble was afoot via the skanks that live 2 doors down from us.
What it was, was that when Mom was letting the girls out she heard the chain on the gate constantly being jiggled. It was a very DELIBERATE sound, which stopped once she turned on the porch light.
I looked on the security cameras, but the cameras didn't record a thing. I guess it could have been another cat, but unless it's paw was stuck on that chain it wouldn't have sounded like a person was trying to break and enter. And the sound did stop once Mom turned on the light. If it was a cat whose paw was stuck on the chain lock somehow, the jiggling would have persisted even after the light was turned on.
I guess it was the punk kids, but I sure wish our cameras had picked them up. Mom did say she heard them roaming the streets earlier tonight.
Gonna sign off now. I hate typing on these laptops. My dribble always ends up disappearing as I'm typing. It's as if some evil little pixie is waving it's evil little magic wand over my keyboard pad once I finally reach the end of typing out another rambling sentence. It has to be the same pixie devil that makes the mate to our socks disappear after WE KNOW we had put BOTH socks in that dryer.
And see? It happened again. I had to re-type the sentence above because it went POOF! on me. The greedy little pixie bastard steals sentences, too. Even boring one's at 3:30 am. My words must be like M&M's to him/her/it/they?
Well, gonna go to bed now. Wendy Kitty is snoring peacefully on the bed next to me. I'm still angry with her over her treatment over poor Tiger Lily, so once I turn my bedside lamp off and go to bed I'm gonna feel like I'm sleeping with the enemy.
I'm sure that makes her happy, giving her sweet dreams for the night. Cats DO love pissing us lowly humans off. I'm convinced 2012 is all about them. They're going to turn off their 'cat perception filters' at the stroke of midnight, revealing their true identities (please, God, don't make them all Adam Lambert), and then turn us all into kibble and/or their slave race.

- Went to Borders for the last time today. I went upstairs only to find the romance novel section completely empty.
Imagine my horror.
Mom told me they probably just moved them downstairs, but I figured they just took them off the shelves to sell elsewhere. I peruse the rest of upstairs, then go downstairs to see what they had in the bargain books. A few minutes later Mom shows me that they did move the romance novels to the back, downstairs.
Mommy was right!
I bought FIVE books for the price of ONE!!!! The romances were 80% off, so my total was only $8.34! The most expensive book I bought was $1.60! Only 2 of those books were on my list, but I'm still very pleased.
Oh! Mom found the Outlander graphic novel, The Exile! She bought it for me. Sweet, huh? It was normally $25, and she got it for $7.50! She didn't even know about this book, and I never bothered looking for it b/c I figured it'd either be gone or still pretty expensive. It was 70% off.
And now I'm wondering if they had the "Songs of Love & Death" anthology. I wish I had thought to look for that.
There are a few books I probably should have bought today, but I didn't want to go too crazy without looking for the titles I REALLY want at the antique mall first, even if they are used. I do wish I had looked at the children's section during my previous trips, for some of the classics, because today the selection was just overpicked.
- GREAT NEWS! Karen announced on Facebook today that "Into the Dreaming" is going to be re-released. It's going to have extra scenes and deleted scenes from the HIGHLANDER books!!!!!!!!
- This is nuts. I got up early, turned off my alarm and decided to rest for just 15 minutes before looking up jobs in the school system for today. Hours later I woke up, realizing I had DREAMED about getting up and checking the system. It felt so real, too.
- Whoa, this is a record breaker. I've bought something like 27 books over the last month or two. Most of them were new and marked down, too! I feel like I'm on candid camera or something. This just can't be real.
Current Mood:

- Lucky me!!!!! My grandma heard that I was planning on asking her to look for some books for me at HPB sometime. I planned on waiting, because I wanted to check the antique mall first, but Mom talked me into it.
I know, like THAT was hard to do.
I narrowed my 7 page wish list down to 6 titles. Then Grandma calls from the store today, and said they had 4 books from my list!

I think I'll read either Highland Guardian or Return of the Highlander first. Today I read some excerpts online of both, and I'm having trouble deciding.
I need to get back to the book I've barely started. I've really been hankering to read a good Ghost/Highlander book, but I've been obsessed with working on one of my sites.
I just realized that over the past month I've bought 20 books! (And this isn't even counting EITB). Only 6 of those are used, too. Now THAT is a record. I'm gonna have to buy another pretty box to store them in. I'm tempted to buy a shelf at Borders, as they're selling 3 of the HUGE shelves for $100 and I only need one... I think. The trouble is I wouldn't know where to put it and I'd have to paint it black.
- I'm gonna try to forget about this weekend's Doctor Who episode. Last week's episode I liked - even though "Mels" in the beginning worried me b/c I was afraid she was to be a new character - but I hated the latest. I kept waiting... and waiting... and waiting for something exciting to happen. I had the entire episode figured out early on, too. The monsters were creepy, but it was nothing like the "Blink" episode from Tennant's run. I really thought it would have been similar.
At least Rory didn't die in this one, too.
And why would a BOY (okay, alien) have a dollhouse in the first place? And then there's foreshadowing of The Doctor's death at the end of every episode. They really need to stop that.
I was surprised to see the return of Amy's intro before the music and titles began. I figured they had chucked that for good since it wasn't there last week. A lot of people hate that intro, finding it unnecessary. It doesn't really bother me, but it does leave Rory out.
Rory's my favorite companion. He's a sweetheart.
- This is a flippin' miracle. It's almost 4:30 and it's 84 degrees!!!! Not over 100 for a change. For days it's been really windy, too.
- I think I'm either going to start a brand new personal blog on my other account, since this one looks horrible in Firefox, or just stop having one altogether. I never really talk about anything interesting or important. I just ramble about nothing.
By the way, it bothers me that my wallpapers don't all look the same on Firefox as they do here on IE. Either there's a 'seam' in the background or the top and bottom of the paper is cut off.
Well, I guess I'll look to see if there are any jobs at the schools for tomorrow yet. Whoopty-doo. Can you sense my excitement? Okay, so it's still the lesser of evils. I just wish I had an iphone. I get to school EARLY and am so bored on breaks. Having internet access would make the day so much brighter. I get restless having nothing to do except read or edit one of my books. The day just draaags on and on and on.
I have to find a job with health insurance - thanks obama, you rat b@stard, for taking our freedom of choice away - but am petrified. I'm not a fan of things changing. Already, I'm worried and feel such dread over the future. I can actually feel myself trying not to panic.
Update: Didn't realize it's Labor Day Weekend. No school tomorrow.
Talked to my niece for a bit on webcam via her brand spankin' new iphone which she's so excited about. It was nice seeing her. I missed seeing Luke though. His girlfriend Stephanie was there. Mom said Luke was carrying her around the house on his back. Lol! It's their anniversary today.
