This is told from multiple POVs as different characters relive past memories. It reads like a series of interconnected stories and some hit more than others but standouts for me were the swimmer with no arms, the sumo wrestler and the woman who made her husband relive her birth experience. Great on audio with a full cast of narrators, this might not be a book for everyone but I found it refreshingly unique and clever. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest thoughts. This was my first time reading anything by Canadian author Yiming Ma!...more

Moving, funny and great on audio including snippets of sections from the author's family. Highly recommended for fans of books by Mindy Kaling or Lilly Singh. I love a good success story about women chasing their dreams in midlife and killing it!...more

I found it slow, lacked chemistry between the main characters and that there was more focus on the workplace harassment plot than the actual romance. Okay on audio but not one I'll remember or recommend even though it had a FAB cover! Like my favs in this style, this one was character driven and focused on a woman's journey of self-actualization and learning a new hobby (pottery), to slow down appreciate the little things in life and of course she falls in love along the way too. I liked this (didn't love it) but I also think I would have liked reading the print book more than the audio to appreciate the beautiful prose and the poignant lines that are sprinkled throughout the book....more

Reunited eight years later when Isabelle's mother marries Kai's coach, the two can't deny there are still strong feelings between them but can they stay just friends with Isabelle planning to go back to Italy or is their love worth sticking around for??
Steamy and full of heart, this can be read as a standalone but had lots of cameos from previous characters in the series, including Kai's little sister. It was also fantastic on audio narrated by Samantha Brentmoor and David Lee Huynh.
Fans of second chance, dual POV baseball player romances won't want to miss this one! Many thanks to the author and @homecookedbooks for an ALC in exchange for my honest thoughts....more

Add in the fact that she's forced to spend the trip with her former childhood friend slash nemesis and former LA model Leah is not having a great time. If you like forced proximity, enemies to lovers travel romances this one should appeal to you. I did enjoy the story but wasn't a big fan of the way the narrator spoke for the MMC's voice and I can't say it was my favorite book by Ann Liang either....more

A moving father-son migrant story written by a gay Vietnamese Canadian man grappling with his family's journey from Vietnam and the way his father mysteriously disappeared along the way. I liked the way the author incorporated his mother's version of events and seeing the past through her eyes versus the way he remembered things. It was good on audio and recommended for anyone who enjoys migrant memoir stories like Sigh, gone by Phuc Tran....more
