Read by the A collection of poetry detailing the horrors of living through occupation and bombings as a parent of young children in early 2020s Gaza. Read by the author, these poems offer an eye-opening and heartbreaking contrast of what life before and during the war on Palestine looked like for everyday families just trying to survive. I didn't love the author's narration but he still manages to bring lots of emotion to his reading. Highly recommended but perhaps better read in print....more

A few resonated but I didn't feel the style/content of many of the poems. They felt a little like the author was trying too hard to be high-brow than authentic and relatable. I wouldn't recommend this for people who enjoy more accessible and easy to connect with poetry. The poetry in this book is relatable, accessible, hopeful, nostalgic, full of joy and love and longing. A lot of the poems touch on life, love, being kind to yourself, taking chances, female friendship and more. I devoured and underlined so many lines and couldn't recommend it enough! They were accessible, relatable and thoughtful and are sure to resonate with many women, mothers and non-mothers alike. Some of my favorites included The compliment game, Marriage of friends, Cycle of women and Same. Highly recommended, especially for fans of poets like Amanda Lovelace.
Favorite lines: "I think of what a gift it is to be part of a cycle of women who care. Who are cared for, who take care of their young and each other, who know how to care well for themselves."
"it is hard to describe how good it feels to be part of a group of women who belong to each other."
"We never know whose day we will change, whose life will be impacted by our words. The lesson, I think? Give compliments wherever you go."...more

I would still highly recommend this book for fans of authors like Kai Cheng Thom....more

Some resonated more than others for me but all are beautiful and heartfelt and contain nuggets of truth any reader should be able to ingest and celebrate in their own lives. The illustrations in the book are fabulous and I was sad to see this book end. Another must buy for me that I will go back to again and again over the years. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy and the author for sharing her most vulnerable truths with her readers yet again. HIGHLY recommended, especially for fans of poets like Rupi Kaur....more
