Wouldn't mind reading more of the Earthsea cycle to see what other adventures Ged gets up to but I won't be rushing out to read the next one anytime soon. I wasn't overly impressed but was easy to listen to as an audiobook. Is marketed as an adult book but still seemed fairly YA in a lot of places. The 4 plane crashes in one town seemed kind of implausible to me too but overall not a bad read. I probably won't be in any rush to read another Judy Blume book anytime soon though....more

I have to agree with the prosecutor that the "Karlsson geezer had already been babbling for quite a while without really saying anything." -- That pretty much sums up my whole view on this book. A whole lot of boring prattle that took up time I could have spent on better books. But I am happy to finally say I finished it. Thank you book club for that! I don't usually dislike books this much, this one just struck a nerve - would have been just as 'good' with half as many pages....more

This was my second time reading it (First time was August 2006). Was a really unique female perspective of the Odyssey. Wasn't as fleshed out as I would have wanted - that was my big complaint - too short. Best part was the chorus of the 12 maids - they were very cheeky and kept things entertaining....more
