This was my first Karina Halle read and I really enjoyed it. Aurora was so good for Aksel and his girls. He was a brooding King, carrying a lot of guilt. She was a strong and sassy nanny, didn't take him so seriously. There was a little bit of mystery to figure out but nothing too angsty, over the top. It was a feel-good story with a great HEA epilogue that left me swooning and smiling, so happy for them.
“I am a king. And I belong to you in ways I never thought possible. More than I belong to my country, more than I belong to the people, I belong to you.”
➡️Oh my gah, I loved this book so much! It was a hilarious, sexy, and oh so sweet office romance that I didn't want to put down.

➡️The emails exchanged between Peyton and Rome were fun and made me laugh.
➡️Peyton had a feisty side with a sassy mouth.
"Oh, Rome. I don't think I'm in charge here. I know I am. You might be the boss at work, but I'll be the boss of this bedroom."
➡️Peyton changed Rome for the better ❤️
"I'm different around her, more vulnerable, more aware of my feelings. Not so much of a prick. And even though I kind of hate to admit it given where we started, she makes me happy."
➡️And let's not forget about Hunter. He was a great side character! And now I'm just going to sit over here and wait for his book to be written because I'll for sure read that ish. ...more

Mila Carmichael marched her way into his life unexpectedly and made herself right at home. She's strong, has goals of her own, and isn't afraid to speak her mind. Perfect for the Bishop family!
This one started out a little slow for me....it took a while to get to where Mila and John actually meet and then there wasn't much aside from skirting around feelings through the first 1/2. But once they did it was a sweet and fun ride that had me pulling for them to work things out.
This one can be read as a standalone but there's so much crossover of characters so you might as well start at the beginning to keep up with the clan. Such a fun series! ...more

I wondered going in if this was a love triangle, (view spoiler)[hint: it's not. Truly about two couples. (hide spoiler)] I loved the dominant side the heroes had, how protective they were of their family. The suspense kept me wanting more. And oh so hot ...more

So good, so intense, and brought all the feels. I finished reading it and couldn't get it out of my head. One of those 5+ star reads that will stick with me.
I picked this one up because I came across a couple rave reviews...I thought I was just picking up a sports romance. Boy was I wrong. Yes, it's set in the world of basketball but it's a deep, powerful story about domestic abuse, survival, and moving on.
Iris was so strong, doing what she had to do to survive. August was patient and caring. Their story was beautiful and I was pulling for them the whole time, felt so invested in their feelings.
After reading a string of light, fun, steamy romances this was a good change of pace for me. One of those books that was so intense and descriptive that I mostly loved it, sometimes hated it, and was obsessed with the outcome.
“If you were mine, Iris, there would be no doubt what position you’d hold in my life. You’d be center. I’d play you at the five.”

The story opens with a flashback to Mount's past where we are offered a glimpse at what has made him who he is today. He's such a complex mystery and this helped shed some light on the situation.
I loved watching the Mount and Keira grow in this book, get to know each other, and dare I say...get to experience being almost couple-like. He's still demanding, she's defiant just as the title states.
"I finally understand the reason it’s called power exchange, but with Mount and me, it’s more accurately termed a power struggle. He takes. I fight. He threatens. I rebel. He taunts. I argue."
This book was a page turner for me, constantly wanting to know what was going to happen next. I enjoyed the suspenseful mystery of the story.
And at no surprise, the suspense doesn't end and we're left with another big cliffhanger. Moving on to Sinful Empire! ...more

LJ Shen pens thee best alpha-male-asshole books I've ever read. I fall in love with them every.single.time. (If you haven't read the HotHoles, aka Sinners of Saint series please go meet them after you read this one -- so good!)
Alex is a 27 year old British rock star, a troubled asshole, a beautifully broken soul. He needs a babysitter to keep him out of trouble on the tour.
Indie, 21, is struggling through the loss of her parents and living with her brother's family. They need to the money and it's an offer she can't refuse.
"I wish he didn't look like an angry god and write like a tortured poet. It would have made hating him so much easier."
I hated to put this book down. It consumed me. Alex thinking he was undeserving, pushing everyone away. Playing this game with Indie until he reached what he thought was his ultimate goal.
"I want to screw the words out of you. Just you. Until the end of this tour, it's only you and me."
Indie was strong and oh so good for Alex. Their connection was fire but he was a selfish addict who pushed her away and couldn't see what was best for him.
The twists and turns though. The lies, the secrets, the unraveling of things. It all made it such a great, unpredictable read! Oh you think you know what's going on? BAM.
Heat, hope, laughter, love, surprise, heartbreak, and a happily ever after. It brought it all and then some <3
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review...more

I couldn't put this one down - it was hot and suspenseful. I love Meghan March's writing style. It's shelved as dark but I'd say this is middle of the road in terms of dark stuff. It wasn't so dark that I was wondering WTF am I reading but it wasn't hearts and flowers love either. If you like asshole heroes, enemies-to-lovers type stories then read on.
Keira is recently widowed, 4th generation in running her family's whiskey business in New Orleans. She finds out she owes a debt greater than anything she could ever repay....and it's to Lachlan Mount. He knows the only repayment he wants isn't in cash and she has no choice if she wants to keep the business.
Mount is powerful, feared by everyone, and commanding. Oh, and let's not forget that he's oh so good with his hands. And the mouth on him.
“I’m going to fuck you like you’ve been begging a man to fuck you your entire life. And I guarantee while I’m buried inside you, there won’t be a single second when you feel like it’s against your will”
Well ok then, Mount! He kind of just takes what he wants but trust me, Keira enjoys it, it's not against her will. She tries to protest but her body betrays her.
Seriously though, that cliffhanger! {precisely why I waited to read these once they were all released...I have no patience!} Be prepared to read the rest of the series if you enjoy this one. I jumped straight into Defiant Queen because I had to know what the fuck just happened! Yeah, I didn't see that coming......more
