It was so funny and adorable. The fact that it had a full cast made the listening experience just that much better.

I have thoughts…. For the entirety of this book I felt like I was fighting for my life to get to the end, and not in a good way. Honestly after reading this I think this series and I are going to be parting ways.
Lightlark was the strongest book in this series for me and each book afterwards got worse. Isla is one of the worst FMCs I’ve ever read. She is completely INSUFFERABLE! She cries every other page about anything and everything. Not to say that having feelings is bad it’s just so consistent and starts to grind on my nerves. Especially when immediately following a scene where she is crying about something so small, she then tries to act all hard and badass… I’m not buying it sis. She lacks conviction, is a poorly written character, is constantly self loathing, and makes Grim seem like her little minion who exists for the sole purpose of doing her bidding and constantly guilt trips him. Her powers piss me off the most. One minute she’s crying about how she’s evil and a villain and her abilities are too much that she needs to lock them away. Then the next she’s suddenly some badass magical warrior with barely any training. Make it make sense.
This book was one giant contradiction. One minute Isla is keeping secrets, lying, deceiving and then when she’s gets caught, Grim graciously accepts her without any judgement. But God forbid there’s one tiny secret kept from her and she acts as if the entire world is crumbling from feelings of betrayal. GIVE ME A BREAK! Also, how is she still so torn about who to choose?! Girl, let’s be so for real, there is no competition…. Grim is the obvious choice. He was the ONLY redeeming factor in this entire book.
This book was littered with typos and missing words. The plot became a bit of a stretch. It felt like so much happened yet nothing happened and everything just went off the rails. Essentially, it was overwritten....more
This book might be my new favorite in the series! Just wow! Emily really outdid herself with this 4.5 ⭐️
“In a different life… I’d love you out loud.”
This book might be my new favorite in the series! Just wow! Emily really outdid herself with this one from the incredible spice to the tear jerking romance.
Let’s start with the romance. It’s a love at first sight, forbidden romance situation and I ATE IT UP! The delicious tension of how badly they wanted eachother without being able to have eachother was borderline painful. The way Enzo falls so hard so fast for Venesa had me swooning! It’s like she eclipsed everything else in his life until all he could see was her. And I’m a sucker for a ‘he falls first’ trope. This book, unlike the others in the series, also had some quotes that were so vulnerable and sweet they had me in tears! Paired with the most heart melting romance was the incredible spice ...more

That is my reaction after finishing this book! It has been so long since I’ve read a book with an ending that completely shocked me to my core!!!
This book gripped me from the very beginning, yet the entire time I kept thinking “what’s happening and where is this going?” because I had NO CLUE. It had me so intrigued and turning page after page after page needing to know how these dots were going to connect.
The pacing at first is alittle slow which normally bothers me… but not with this story. I was so invested. As the plot progresses, you start to see pieces of the puzzle but can’t quite figure out how they all connect to the larger picture, and then the ending drops the bomb of all bombs that I never saw coming! I had my jaw on the floor, staring at the wall trying to process what I just read. That’s how insane it was. I am shook!
The overall vibes of this story felt like dystopian pirates. We have rival kingdoms and a group of people who have been banished from the continent for abusing the magic that was bestowed upon them by Mother Nature. We follow our FMC, who is an outcast amongst her own and who also has a forgotten history. She is certainly more than she seems. The idea for this story was so unique, the characters were likeable, the romance was slow and delicious and the twists will leave you reeling!!!
First, I'd like to say thank you to the publisher and the author for an ARC of this book. I am truly honored and feel so lucky.

This was the perfect conclusion to what has become one my favorite fantasy romance series. These books are so incredibly addicting. They draw you in and you become so emotionally invested in the characters.
After the ending of the third book, that had me staring at the wall crying at 1 am I might add, I was so nervous for this final book. Anything that could have gone wrong did, and there were so many moments where I could not imagine how they were going to get out of all of these awful situations. As usual, Nisha found ways to surprise me and threw in quite a few plot twists as well.
One of my favorite things, aside from Nadir and Lor, about this series is the unique world and the various kingdoms. The way they are written creates such a vivid image in my mind to the point that I truly feel like I am there. I love that in this book we got to meet all of the rulers of Ouranous and how they all had to come together to prevent history from repeating itself. Not to mention the full circle moment of Lor starting the series with deadly trials and also ending with them!!! Her character arc throughout the series is unparalleled. She is so cunning, loyal, brave and resourceful and she never gave up fighting for what she believed in.
On to the romance.... Nadir is my dream man. He is a unique twist on a "shadow daddy" and I am here for it! The slow burn romance throughout the series between Lor and Nadir was so deliciously painful but so worth the wait because they are unstoppable by the end of book 4. Not to mention that the spice got hotter with every book! ...more

These books are such a good time! I found myself literally cackling at so many parts in this story. The funny inner monologues, fantasy twists in a typical office environment and banter are everything!
We got quite a few POVs in this book versus the first which was really fun. The pacing of this story is perfect but the slow burn just might kill me! It’s so deliciously painful, I just want to scream at Evie and Trystan to get it together!!!
Sometimes you just need a book that doesn’t take itself too seriously, doesn’t have an intense magic system or world building but is just whimsical and fun. This series fits exactly that! ...more

Phantasma totally gave me Caraval vibes, if Caraval were spicy and spooky.
This book was the perfect spooky season read. The horror elements and haunted house vibes were very well done. I loved that this book was set in New Orleans; given the city’s well known lore of being a town of witchcraft and spirits, this lent itself perfectly to the story’s explanation of a paranormal hierarchy.
I am a SUCKER for a book with a trial! And having each trial be a level of Hell was so fun, I ate it up! Another thing this book did well was mixing the tensions of the competition with romance. The spice in this book was absolutely ...more

Just finished this book so let’s talk about it. I have a lot of thoughts.
This book had me intrigued from the very beginning. Anytime there’s an FMC with a mysterious past, hidden powers and she’s a thief…. I’m sold! Kierse was such a strong female lead and I really admired all of her various character traits. She had a lot of depth.
Some other strengths of this book for me were the wide variety of “monsters” including some you would not expect. I also really loved the idea of Celtic lore and fairytales being mixed into the plot. And the romance was very well done with some spicy scenes that made me melt!
This book had a lot of moving pieces to it which I’m not sure they all came together very seamlessly. I got the answers I was looking for in the end but the way they were revealed was a bit clunky. Some of the characters weren’t as flesh out as I wanted them to be and the whole idea of the Monster Treaty was a bit cringy. However, I enjoyed this book enough to want to read the next one. ...more

This book was so well done from the amazing world building, intriguing politics and storyline, beautifully written romance and some dark elements all woven together. This definitely is an adult fantasy book given the spice, darker creatures, magic and gore at times.
Saeris is our typical badass FMC and we love to see it! She has persevered through the most horrific circumstances her entire life yet always finds a solution. She is loyal, devoted, powerful and incredibly brave. Kingfisher is her perfect counterpart and I admire him so deeply! Talk about an amazingly well written MMC. This man has so much trauma and such a dark past yet he is still so deeply good to his core; always trying to make things right for those around him and sacrificing himself above others. The romance between these two is steamy and so beautiful that I was SOBBING at times! There were a couple of reveals between them that were ACOMAF chapter 54 worthy, in my opinion! ...more
