I know how Marvel is trying to empower feminism by blurting out important female characters and Wolverine X-23 is just one of them. X-23 can never replace Logan, but she's not a bad character at all. Needs a ton of development, but this is the first graphic novel I've read about her so there is room for improvement.
This graphic novel focuses on the four sisters who are clones of Wolverine. They escaped the lab and are still escaping the people who created them. The plot of this first volume isn't as interesting as I expected, but I deemed it as an introductory volume for the series. I'm really hoping that things would improve along the way.
The artwork is commendable. I have a few Marvel series that I hate because of the artwork, but thankfully this one didn't disappoint....more

This is the prelude to the whole series, and all I can say is that, if the series continues to be this good, then I think I'm going to enjoy it.
This prelude was a bit vague for me, but I still enjoyed it. It had almost all the characters that I love in the X-Men. Wolverine, Doctor Strange, Wanda, and Magneto are among my favorite X-Men characters. I'm glad that Strange plays a huge role in this series because he is very much underrated. I also like that this is going to focus on Scarlet Witch because she's one of my favorite villains ever, alongside Magneto.
I'm not going to write a long review because this is just the prelude. I will be writing my review for all the volumes after I've read the single issues in chronological order. It's going to take a long time (maybe a week or two), and I'll be writing my reviews chronologically too (House of M, House of M Spider-Man, House of M Incredible Hulk, etc.) ...more

It always sIf anyone were to ask me what was the most underwhelming graphic novel I've ever read, Death of Wolverine would be my straight out answer. It always sucks when your favorite superhero of all time got a not so good plot. Not so good in a way that the ending ruined it all, or let me change that, the length ruined it all.
Wolverine started to lose his healing powers, so that means he's not the immortal mutant we've gotten used to. He has to fight mano-a-mano with the people hired to capture him for a hefty amount of cash. Mr. Fantastic begs him not to use his claws anymore as it would hasten his death. Wolverine doesn't seek a resolution for the lost power, but rather a happy ending to grow old and finally die. The enemies were in the way though.
After reading the fourth issue I was very much disappointed. Obviously 4 issues were not enough to conclude one of the greatest superheroes ever. For me it was quite disrespectful that they rushed the death of one of the most important characters in the Marvel universe. I know it's more biased on my part because he's my favorite of all time, but it really felt rushed. I needed more, and the author needed more to really make us feel the grief. I felt like nothing after reading this because the death was so underwhelming. That was it? That was fucking it? I want him resurrected and for them to stop this bullshit death if they can't do it properly.
2/5 stars. What was commendable though would be the amazing artwork. Even Kitty looked great! If you're looking for top notch plot though, this is not for you....more

I've mentioned this recently, so I guess I don't really need to remind the people who read my review of another X-Men series. This first volume was great. It vaguely depicts a great story arc and hints for great plot twists to come in the next volumes.
The plot was different than the usual X-Men plot I got used to. I only know X-Men from the movies and I can vaguely remember some random single issues when I was younger, so I had no idea what writers were experimenting on over the past years. Whedon had something new to offer, but it wasn't as astonishing as I would've wanted. This honestly had a really similar plot to the third X-Men movie, X-Men: The Last Stand. He changed a whole lot, but the essence was still there. The main idea was basically the same, but I'm not complaining to be honest. I just wanted to point out how similar things were, but I'm not mad because i liked X-Men: The Last Stand. I know a lot of people disliked it because the characters became darker and not jolly, but it's still the X-Men for me. The story was great, but just like the movie, this volume was also lacking. While it was great to know that there's a cure, I just seem to feel that the author has more to offer after this. I'm not completely satisfied.
The artwork was way better than I expected. I liked how they were portrayed, unlike the most recent one I read. I know that this is just a personal preference but I always judge harshly on the artwork. Bad artwork always ruins the whole experience, so thankfully this didn't disappoint. Kudos for making Wolverine look at least cool, and even Scott Summers. Most of the time both of them look like thrash, so it's a great thing to finally pay some respect and portray them well.
Can I just ask though, if it's too spoilery then please tell me and don't answer, but where the fuck is Storm?
4.5.5 stars. Rounded down, just like any other Graphic Novel. I always round down when it comes to GN, so I guess you could also say that I judge these harsher than novels. A great read though, so don't hesitate to try if you're looking for a great X-Men read. ...more

It was either Jeff or some other non-goodreads friend of mine. I'm really glad he recommended it, because this was a good read.
Basically Beast wanted to change things for the better and pulled the original X-Men from the past to try and influence the current Scott. Would it work out like he wanted to? Read and find out.
What I didn't like or really wanted to happen was to read more of Magneto and Wolverine. I know Wolverine is not even on the cover, but he's basically X-Men for me. This being my first legit X-Men graphic novel/comic in years, I was really hoping to read more of him. I remember reading a lot of single issues of the original X-Men run when I was a child, but I can't remember anything from them at all aside from Wolverine and Cyclops were both my favorites. Aside from that though, I had no problems with this graphic novel. The artwork was really likable and the plot was good too.
4/5 stars. Really good considering this is my first X-Men read in years. Btw if you hate cliffhangers then you'll probably hate this shit for quite a while. I need to read volume 2 asap. Highly recommended....more
