The Best Subscription Box For Bakers

I am loving this sample box for people who love to bake

I received a subscription box to facilitate this post.

I love baking and can be found in the kitchen several days a week baking up some delicious treats for my family. I enjoy creating new recipes as my creative outlet. Baking and cooking are my kinds of entertainment. Sometimes I get adventurous and try unique recipes like plant-based Chinese dumplings with spicy chile sauce while other time in the kitchen is spent making my family's favorite pretzel bread. For the most part, my recipe creation is time making healthy recipes like Keto Salted Caramel Chocolate Cookies or a vegan omelet that is made from chickpea flour, this one was so delicious!

Trying new baking ingredients

I think the best part of cooking and baking is trying new flavors and new ingredients. When I go grocery shopping, I love to browse the aisles for new food products that would make my recipes taste delicious. So when I discovered the best subscription box for bakers, I had to check it out. This unique box of baking items is for the person who is obsessed with baking. Fikabröd is a monthly delivery of exciting ingredients and unique goodies.

Use my code MOMKNOWSBEST on your order to save $5

Each monthly box is filled with unique baking items

Once you subscribe to this baking adventure box, you will get a monthly box sent to your house that is filled with cooking ingredients that can be the start of creating new recipes in the kitchen. The monthly subscription box will also have some fun items that are related to baking like a cute cupcake bath bomb or a pair of socks with cupcake designs on them.

Once a month you’ll receive gourmet, international, and novel ingredients, plus gorgeous baking decorations, unique kitchen tools, and fun baking-related goodies. We’ll be mixing up the types of items we share each month

The first box that I received from Fikabrod had six awesome cooking items in it. All the unique baking items were items that I would purchase. I think my favorite item in the baking box was the cute bath bomb that looked like a delicious cupcake. My boys kept asking me if they could have the cupcake bath item for their bath time but I said, "sorry but this one is all mine." Other items in this box for bakers were crystallized ginger, Chukar Cherries, chia seeds, tea, and a burn balm.

The box came with a card that described all the items and even gave recipe suggestions for each of the baking ingredients. The recipes could be located on the Fikbrod website. I, of course, had my own ideas for recipes with the products that were in the box. The Bob's Red Mill chia seed is a product that I already use and I use it daily in my protein smoothies and in my baking recipes like No-Bake High Fiber Breakfast Granola Bars. Did you know that chia seeds are high in fiber, protein, and omegas? So chia seeds are a great way to add nutrition to your favorite baked goods.

The Chukar Cherries were so delicious and I loved snacking on them. I had to stop eating these tart cherries as I am thinking that they would be great in a bread recipe. I am always baking bread in my kitchen and if you love baking bread, you need to check out these 11 homemade bread recipes. Did you know that sweet cherries are rich in anti-inflammatories?

The crystallized ginger also tasted great straight out of the package. This sweet ginger is good for digestion and ginger is also great for colds. I like to add ginger to my tea and this sweet ginger would be great in my cold and flu honey lemon ginger tea recipe. I could even add the ginger chews to the Pukka Turmeric Glow Herbal tea that was included in this box of baking goodies. I loved how they packaged the tea in a cute sparkly pink bag.

The Chef's Burn Balm from Touch of Herbs would come in handy for those times when I burn my fingers from touch a hot pan. This all-natural burn balm would have been handy for the time that I made a balsamic glaze and anciently got a drop on my thumb. After that burn episode that gave me a big blister, I am glad that I found a better way to make a balsamic glaze and I used this balsamic glaze in my Roasted Rainbow Brussels Sprouts recipe. I just love the natural ingredients in this balm and the calendula and sunflower oil soothes my dry skin.

I can't wait until next month to see what cooking goodies are in the Fikabrod subscription box. I am sure that I will love all the baking ingredients. You have to check out this unique subscription box for bakers. Head to the Fikabrod website and to see some past monthly boxes. You have to see the unique pair of cupcake socks that was in a past bakers box. While you are checking out the website, make sure to check out all the delicious recipes like sour cream cherry scones. Use my code MOMKNOWSBEST on your order to save $5. Trust me this is a box that is fun to receive and it makes a great gift for a friend who loves baking.

Interactive Learning In The Kitchen With Eat2explore

Make learning fun with cooking

I received a food subscription box from Eat2explore to facilitate this post.

As a mom to five kids, I have learned that the best way to help kids learn is to make it exciting and fun. That way kids will have no clue that they are learning. I am that mom who wants to help my child to succeed in school so they can get a good job later on. One way that I like to teach my kids is through cooking. Cooking can teach kids not only the skills that they need but also teach them math, science, and even history. Yes, you can teach kids history through cooking and make your kitchen an interactive learning place. You can make learning history fun for kids with Eat2explore. Eat2Explore is a fun subscription box for kids that includes tasting ingredients from other countries as well as fun learning materials so you can create delicious recipes with your kids while learning about other cultures. The best part is eating food dishes from other countries without having to hop on a plane.

Cooking Subscription Box for Families

My boys were sent a food subscription box from Eat2explore and the theme for the month was Japan. This monthly subscription box was a great weekend activity for some quality time with my boys. My boys are starting to enjoy cooking and this food craft box is something that they look forward to just like the delicious Gramma dessert boxes that we get every month. The Gramma subscription boxes have helped my boys learn how to make cookies and the Eat2explore boxes will help them learn how to make healthy meals. My boys will one day move out and will have to cook so learning how to make healthy food is always a good thing.

What is eat2explore and is in the cooking subscription box?
Eat2explore is a monthly cooking subscription box that contains food from around the world so experience food from another country along with a history lesson. Your kids will learn about other cultures while tasting new food. This subscription box is the beginning of learning about people around the world.

What is in the box:
3 recipes (4 servings each)
essential spice/sauce mixes
shopping list for fresh ingredients
educational country brochures
educational activity sheets
fun cooking tools
flag pins, stickers, passport

Learning so much through cooking

Kids learn so much through cooking. Cooking teaches kids math as they have to measure the ingredients. Cooking also teaches kids many basic skills like how to use a knife safely and how to use a stove. Kids also expand their reading with cooking as they read the recipes. The activity sheets that were included in the box will give my boys some learning like math, science, social studies, and science. My boys can do the activities while waiting for the food to cook. There is even a word search and a Hiragana Chart so my boys could learn how to write in Japanese.

Okonomiyaki
Salmon teriyaki

Trying new foods
The Eat2explore box included just the spices and sauce that we needed to make the international dishes so we had to head to the store to buy other ingredients like soba, salmon, and green cabbage. These are new foods to my boys so they were excited to try them. Some of the recipes also called for meat but I liked that one had a vegetarian option. Since we don't eat meat, I will substitute fish for the chicken in one of the recipes, and that way we can still experience the flavors from the sauces and seasonings. I really like that the recipe cards have pictures on them. This month the boys and I made the Okonomiyaki which is a Japanese cabbage pizza. It was super easy to make. The included sauces made this cabbage pizza so yummy. This pizza reminded me of tempura veggies that were made into a pancake. The recipe called for shredded cabbage but I made it easier and used a coleslaw mix. I also did not add the bacon. I do declare that our recipe looks very similar to the photo above that was included in the box. The boys are excited to cook the Salmon teriyaki with the toasted nori and Japanese sticky rice. We will cook this recipe next.

Where can I try out eat2explore?
You can find more information about the Eat2explore subscription box from around the world boxes and their monthly subscriptions on their WEBSITE. This box is a great way for the whole family to learn about other cultures.

Your Guilt-Free Guide to a Healthy Yet Delicious Super Bowl Sunday

Game Day food can be healthy

This game day you can keep your healthy goals and celebrate with some healthy bites. One of my favorite healthy snacks is chipotle Roasted Cauliflower With Smoked Chili Cream. These flavorful bites of cauliflower taste so incredible when dipped into a  creamy spicy sauce. Your party guests will love them. Your guests may also appreciate that you are offering healthy foods so they won't feel guilty. Check out a great article that I discovered that offers many more suggestions for healthy game day food.

If you're like most Americans, you celebrate one of the biggest sporting events in the country (okay, the biggest), but planting yourself in front of the television with ice-cold beverages and hearty yet unhealthy snacks. While this is perfectly normal and provides for nothing but a good time, it doesn't help you keep your New Year's resolution to eat healthier and get in shape.

You may be thinking right about now that Super Bowl Sunday is not about health foods and low-carb drinks. It's about fierce competition, celebrating football's best teams, laughter, and good times. Why ruin a good time worrying about body image? Well, for one, because healthy eating is not just about body image. It's about obtaining overall good health and increasing your odds of living a long, healthy, and fulfilling lifestyle.

That said, eating right doesn't mean eating bland, flavorless foods. It is possible to have a good time without fried foods, surgery beverages, and all-around unhealthy dishes. This post will show you how.

Low-Cal Beverages

If you're like many football fans, you like to enjoy the game with an adult beverage in hand. Super Bowl Sunday is one of the few days you can let loose and act like the crazed fan at a college football game you used to be. EatingWell provides numerous healthy yet tasty Super Bowl drink recipes. Some of the more popular options include the following:

  • Skinny Pineapple Margarita
  • Jalapeño Watermelon Margaritas
  • Island Limeade
  • Pear Ginger Shooters
  • Watermelon Rose Sangria
  • Chaos Ladder

Though each of these recipes calls for alcohol, you can always make a virgin version sans alcohol. In fact, doing so would contribute to your overall weight goals even more, as alcohol is high in carbs and fatty sugars.

Healthy Hors Devours

In addition to providing recipes for healthy beverages, EatingWell also provides plenty of appetizing recipes for footballs' favorite course: the appetizers. Fried foods are, of course, a stable of game day. EatingWell shows you don't necessarily have to give up the oils and breading to achieve delectable yet good-for-you eats. Siracha Buffalo Cauliflower bites receive a four and a half-star rating, which is outstanding considering cauliflower is one of those veggies with which most people have a hard time getting on board. As a stand-in for chicken, it provides fewer calories and more fiber and the same great taste. Unless you were to spill the beans regarding your veggie alternative, there's a good chance your guests will never know you swapped poultry for a veggie.

Some other healthy starters EatingWell suggests you make are as follows:

  • Mediterranean Party Board
  • Buffalo Chicken Celery Sticks
  • Turkey Chipotle Chili
  • Bacon Wrapped Zucchini Fries
  • Sweet and Spicy Wasabi Snack Mix

Delectable Dips

Kettle and pita chips may be healthy alternatives to your favorite fried potatoes, but if you're being honest, the taste doesn't live up to that of the originals'. You can combat the blandness with a flavorful dip. Ultimate Nutrition's dip takes the cake for the best dip of 2019, as it's creamy, hearty, spicy and full of healthy ingredients. The Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe is made of low-fat cottage cheese, fat-free cream cheese, skim mozzarella, buffalo sauce and crumbled blue cheese. Each of these ingredients provides for the rich, creamy flavor. Throw in a pound of chicken breast, cooked and shredded, for sustenance and serve with your favorite low-cal corn chips.

Provide variety for your guests, especially those that prefer less spice in their chip dip. Some other fan favorites include the following:

  • Slow Cooker Chicken Enchilada Dip
  • Avocado Hummus
  • Zesty Avocado Black Bean Dip
  • Buffalo Cauliflower Dip
  • Kickoff Pepper Dip

Wholesome Dinners

Many people don't serve actual meals on Super Bowl Sunday, but then again, if you're here looking for healthy dishes, you're not most people. Surprise your guests with a wholesome meal to share at halftime or that they can serve themselves throughout the game. Putting together a tasty yet nutritious main course doesn't have to involve all the meal prep of a Thanksgiving dinner. In fact, if you keep the recipe simple enough, you can make a meal for 20 with as little fuss as possible.

Food Network gets creative with its game day surprises and serves up recipes that all parties of a usually eclectic gathering can enjoy. One such recipe is Giada's hand-held pizza pockets. These are like mini calzones, but instead of being stuffed with processed meats and salty sauces, they're stuffed with arugula, cheese, and Italian sausage. Store bought pizza crust will save you time when crafting these little delights. Some other ideas Food Network has are as follows:

  • Honey Glazed Chicken Wings and Snow Peas
  • Baked Buffalo Wings With Blue Cheese Yogurt Dip
  • Vegetarian Beans in a Blanket
  • Lightened Up Asian Turkey Sliders

As you can see, there are dozens of flavorful options for treating your guests to tasty yet nutritious foods. Give one or more of the above a try to impress your guests and satisfy their taste buds.

Celebrate National Coffee Day With A Dairy Free Pumpkin Latte

Get in the fall spirit with this delicious Dairy Free Pumpkin Latte that you brew at home!

I received an Espressotoria coffee maker and a sample of Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract to facilitate this post.

Are you a fall person? You know the one that gets excited when they see that their favorite coffee shop is making pumpkin lattes. If you are like me, you hop into the car the moment you hear that you can buy a pumpkin latte. Then, if you are like me, you are shocked to see the going price of your favorite latte that you have been waiting all year for. A delicious pumpkin latte is the only drink that entices me to visit a coffee shop and pay way to much money for coffee as it is that good. The rest of the year, I make my coffee at home. I have never been able to make a delicious pumpkin latte at home until now. I am going to share my secret to making a delicious pumpkin latte and it all has to do with my new fancy countertop espresso machine that I receive just in time to celebrate National Coffee Day.

A holiday that includes coffee has my vote!

I think  I know that coffee is my favorite drink and there is something special about that warm cup of coffee on a cool fall day. Picture this- you are outside watching hot air balloons float in the sky while sipping on a cup of a warm pumpkin latte that you made at home, no need to leave the house for coffee. What? You don't have hot air balloons floating over your head? You have to visit Albuquerque the first weekend in October as that is when the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta is happening and over 500 hot air balloons will be floating in the sky. This is an up-close must-see event. Back to that pumpkin latte drink that I am sipping as I am watching the balloons practice in the sky on National Coffee Day (September 29th, 2018), I should throw in the smell of green chile roasting but that was last month, glad that I have plenty in my freezer for breakfast burritos. Sorry to get off track but Albuquerque is awesome in the fall.

A sleek countertop espresso machine that makes café lattes

Where was I? I was about to tell you about my new sleek and modern countertop espresso machine that allows anyone to make café quality lattes, cappuccinos and other specialty coffees with the push of a button and how it is the perfect way to celebrate the holiday. My Espressotoria is a perfect coffee gadget that I am having fun with. When this single serve coffee machine arrived at my house, my son pointed it out to me that I already had three coffee makers. What can I say I love coffee and I am always searching for the perfect cup of coffee. I think my 11-year-old is just jealous that he can't drink coffee yet. He steals sips of my coffee all the time when I am not looking and he even loves black coffee, crazy kid!

Espressotoria has an incredible, fresh ground taste that differs from other single serve coffee machines

So I bet you are wondering why I have so many coffee makers. I really only have two if you count this new one as my husband uses the auto time coffee maker and my teen uses the machine that you stick little cups of coffee grounds into. I am more of an espresso coffee person and my old espresso maker is a pain to use and it does not have a one-button Milk Frother that makes perfect foam for my cappuccino or lattes. My new Espressotoria is so easy to use and it takes the guess out of making coffee as it uses Premium Coffee Capsules. It is a one press button machine that produces cafe quality espresso.

Espressotoria is now offering 50% off – a $50 savings! – both their black and white Caprista Machines on Amazon starting today through October 6.

A great coffee maker makes great Dairy Free Pumpkin Lattes

A great pumpkin latte starts with great tasting espresso but it also needs pure vanilla extract. My favorite vanilla extract is Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract as it makes all the difference in my coffee drinks and baking. This vanilla has a flavor profile that’s full, sweet, creamy and mellow with velvety after-tones. It is also made by a cold extraction process from premium, hand-selected beans cultivated in Madagascar. It really brings out an incredible taste when I bake so I knew it would be perfect for my Pumpkin Latte. I made this warm drink dairy free as dairy is not my friend due to lactose and allergy issues.

Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract is produced from premium, hand-selected beans cultivated in Madagascar

Enjoy A Delicious Healthy Meal In Three Minutes

Three minutes is all it takes for a healthy & delicious lunch!

I received samples of Blount Rice & Noodle Bowls to facilitate this post but the opinions are my own.

My husband's job keeps him quite busy and he often has little time for lunch. So if he does not pack a lunch, he tends to grab lunch at a fast food place. He knows that is not the best option for lunch but when hunger strikes and he has little time that is what he eats. So I make sure he has food options at home so he can quickly pack a lunch the night before. I know I could make his lunch for him but the one time that I did, I made it all wrong. It had something to do with not placing the sandwich fixings in the right order. So I don't make his lunch anymore. My husband lately is tired of sandwiches so I have been trying to buy healthy food that is easy for him to combine into a delicious lunch. My husband likes quick and easy lunches. So when I discover these rice and noodle bowls that only take three minutes to cook, I decided to have my husband try them. My husband liked that he could keep some in his office fridge for quick healthy lunches. The flavors of these meals sounded so delicious that even I had to try one.

Chicken made without antibiotics is always a good thing

My husband like that these quick meals had meat in them. I like that Blount thought of us non-meat eaters and made a delicious vegan Vegetable & Rice Bowl that is even gluten-free. My boys were excited about the noodles in the meals. Everyone agreed that the best part of these meals, after the delicious taste, was easy they were to make.

Meals that even kids can make

My boys know how to use the microwave so they made their own Blount Bowls on a night that this mom did not feel like cooking. It was quite simple for them as all they had to do was add the noodles to the sauce bowl and cook for three minutes. The meals had plenty of flavor and veggies. My picky eater actually ate vegetables that night! He said that the roasted sauce from the Hibachi Chicken & Rice Bowl was so good that it made the vegetables taste good! My son had no clue that he ate red peppers and onions as all he tasted was a delicious tomato sauce.

These Asian-Inspired and Thai Inspired Bowls Were Delicious

My husbands favorite Blount meal was the Coconut Chicken & Noodle Bowl as he loved the thick and creamy sauce. My Vegetable & Rice Bowl had the same sauce as the Coconut Chicken bowl and lots of delicious veggies. I do love veggies. My youngest son enjoyed the Chicken Ramen Bowl
and said it was a delicious soup with noodles.

Blount also has a Beef Pho Vietnamese Style Beef Noodle Bowl for those who love beef.  My husband has requested that I buy these Rice & Noodle Bowls more often so he can grab them out the door for his work lunch or enjoy one on fend for yourself dinner nights. Discover all the Rice & Noodle Bowls that Blount makes HERE.

Which Noodle or Rice Bowl would you try first?

Gramma In A Box Back To School August Beach Party Treats

Celebrating back-to-school with a delicious Beach Party Treat box from Gramma!

I received a Gramma Box to facilitate this post.

The boys are heading back to school soon and this mom is so excited! The boys are actually excited about going back to school also. They will be attending a brand new K-8 school, one will be in 5th grade and the other 6th. They need to slow down in this growing up thing! We just toured the school and it is quite impressive! Whoever designed the school did a great job with the selection of colors and furniture. We have also been busy buying new clothes and school supplies. So we took a break this Saturday and had a fun time decorating some cookies. We also made some other fun treats. Gramma sent the boys this cool box of ready to decorate treats and made things so easy! With all the stuff we had to do to get ready for school, this mom had no time to bake. So I love when Gramma sends the boys a box. This box was filled with Beach Party Treats and contained everything that my boys needed to make some fun delicious treats.

The monthly Gramma in a Box includes cookies, frosting, and sprinkles

use code 10off to save $10 off your first box

My boys and I had fun checking out the Gramma In A Box! This fun box was filled with baked cookies with frosting and sprinkles as well as two easy candy crafts to make other delicious treats. I loved that the box included step-by-step instructions with illustrations. Also, all the ingredients were packed in small containers so it was easy for my boys to know what they needed for each goodie. All the ingredients were included. All we had to supply was a bowl, a knife, and a spoon.

The instructions were easy to read!

My boys looked at the easy to read cards that even had pictures on them. They were excited to decorate some cookies. I loved that the frosting was ready to use in small bags.

Each box includes three treats!

The box that we received had three treat projects. My boys got to frost fish cookies and decorate them with colorful sprinkles. The next treat was Goldfish Bowls with marshmallows, graham crackers, and Goldfish crackers. The last treat was these pretty Seashell Pretzels.

The best part was the eating!

The boys and I agreed that the best part of cooking is eating the treats and the leftover ingredients. The treats were so delicious and I am glad that the boys shared some with me.

Cookies always taste better when grandma made them!

My boys had so much fun making their own treats. There was plenty of treats to share with dad. I even had fun decorating a cookie with the boys. My boys agreed that this is a box that they would love to receive from their grandma every month. Find out how you can send this delicious box of treats to your grandchildren. Make sure to use code 10off to save $10 off your first box.
