The quality status is deceiving. This was my first time purchasing with theRealReal. Of the five items purchased, four were great and as stated. One of the dresses I purchased was stated to be in “very good” condition with a “mirror marking on the front.” (Notice marking is singular, not plural) However, the dress is completely stained in four different areas on the front, as well as having texture deformities from steaming with too hot of steam (when silk is steamed on too heigh of temperature, the weaving ripples and the texture becomes damaged) and a pull in the fabric on the back. I would not consider this “very good” condition. The there is no recourse for return, (I assume due to its condition) only to consign it, and there are no photos or written details to describe what the extent of the “staining” is visible. Silk can be hard to photograph because if the sheen but I did not see any visible stains when I zoomed in on the website, so assumed it was minor. That was my mistake. Additionally, of the five dresses purchased, four were similar style silk slip dresses, all from the same brand. This one was priced the highest at $310. Although it was marked at 50% off, it only brought the down to a similar price of the other dresses in excellent condition. Now after receiving the dresses, doesn’t make much sense to me that they are equally valued. It’s a shame one bad experience dampened the whole order. My advice for future buyers, if an item says it has any signs of markings or damage, I wouldn’t bother. Otherwise items listed in “excellent” or “pristine” condition seem to be trustworthy.
