REVIEW
'Down Home Blues Classics' was released by 'Boulevard Vintage Records', an English company based in Camden Town, London, UK. 'Boulevard Vintage' has a small but selective catalog. The main goal of the label is to offer albums of rhythm and blues, blues and country of the best quality possible.
The recordings are the best, researched and sought after by consultants and specialists. The label is very specific, and focuses on the blues history of 1945-1955, when a large number of small-label entrepreneurs recorded for an audience that still craved blues.
Southern and northern migratory patterns have added an essential ingredient to the new blues recording market. The urbanization created a taste for a song that fit the new times and places, contributing to the birth of what we now recognize as rhythm & blues.
In Chicago, rural southern styles were linked directly to wall outlets through amplifiers to create the sound that would eventually go around the world. However, there was still an audience for the rough and exciting rural music sung in the corners of the streets, on local radio shows and parties.
