BIOGRAPHY
To explain the history of The Big Jamboree you have to go back in time
more than two decades, back in the early 80s when they called themselves
Chevy & the Hot Wheels. They were later renamed the Big Frank
Jamboree; and finally, to this day, The Big Jamboree. At the end of the
90s Miguel Ángel García, ex-singer of one of the rock & roll
formations widely known both inside and outside the Spanish borders (The
NuNiles) joined the band and has been part of it for 8 years
participating in the recording of his album "New Times Old Stuff". Since
the end of 2007 it is Agustí Burriel who leads the band, coming from
styles like the Doo-Woop and other bands like the Velvet Candles.
Definitely,
The Big Jamboree is a band that is dedicated to interpreting Rhythm
& Blues, Jump & Jive, Jump Blues and Rock'n Roll of the 50s.
Their repertoire includes their own compositions and arrangements of the
band along with versions of songs from the years 40 and 50 of artists as
important as: Louis Prima, Big Joe Turner, Louis Jordan, Roy Brown,
Wynonie Harrys etc ... The good atmosphere that is breathed on stage at
all times, makes it not only a music concert where basically the sound
predominates, but a musical show in which they also provide an
interpretive blow of grace, as was done in the 40s and 50s. Hence its
name: THE BIG JAMBOREE ("The great party").
The Big Jamboree is a group that has participated in important national
and international events (BCNHayride festival, Screaming Festival,
Crossroad Festival, Mediatic Festival, Duke's festival Cittaducale,
Festival Country rock de Prat-Bonrepaux etc .....) and played in the
most renowned venues on the Catalan music circuit; for a long time they
have been regularly programmed in the Barcelona room "El Café de
Belgrado", in Sant Cugat del Valles; a room that has been its
springboard from the beginning, and in it part of a report on the
current scene of Swing and classic Rock'n'Roll was shot that was
broadcast on the Canal33 program "Sputnik", audience leader in its style
in Catalonia. Thanks to the success of the documentary they were
required to act several times in the program "
They were also scheduled for a long time at Club La Boite in Barcelona.
A highly reputed venue where national and international Blues and Rhythm
& Blues stars performed every week. They have performed on numerous
occasions at the Sala Jamboree in Plaza Real de Barcelona, a venue
where renowned international and national jazz musicians currently
perform. They have also shared the stage with North American rock'n'roll
stars such as Carl Perkins, and accompanied, among others, Hayden
Thompson, Dale Hawkins, Barrence Whitfield, LLoyd Price in Rhythm Riot
in the United Kingdom or Extraordinaires in Barcelona in 2015.
Currently they continue to appear on the night program "Cava de Blues "
on TV3 and can be seen at the time of the weekly broadcast, or online
from the same website of the Catalan Audiovisual Media Corporation http:

With the premiere of the new album "A Night of Jump Blues" on February
11, 2017 at the Luz de Gas venue in Barcelona, The Big Jamboree takes
a qualitative leap in the way it shows the product that has been in its
blood for so many years. They have bet on quality in all aspects, such
as the production carried out by the well-known Mike Mariconda, or the
El Toro Records record label very representative of this style. This
latest album takes us back to the 40s and 50s with the best Jump Blues,
Rhythm & Blues and Rock & Roll of the time and which, for the
first time in the band's discography, has a large number of its own
compositions.
