Act One[edit section | visual editor]

Mattis and Silfy have a storefront in the Emerald Grove near X: 245 Y: 550. When the party first interact with Mattis, he offers to sell them a 'Magic' Ring. The interacting party character can counter with their own magic trick by passing a check:

  • [SLEIGHT OF HAND] Mimic his trick and make the ring disappear. (DC 15)
  • [BARD] [PERFORMANCE] Spin the ring in an elaborate parlour trick. (DC 10)

Otherwise, Mattis attempts to demonstrate a magic trick with the ring but no matter what he successfully call heads or tails. Astute player characters who are Rogues, Sorcerers, Wizards, or Warlocks can identify the magic ring as a fake, to which Mattis says he is just trying to make a buck, and offers to sell them his wares.

If the interacting party member decides to peruse Mattis' wares, Silfy tries to rob them. On a successful Perception saving throw, they catch Silfy in the act and retrieve the stolen goods. On failure, Find Your BelongingsFind Your Belongings is initiated.

Stealing Mattis' lucky magic ring before talking to him grants the following inspiration:

  • Mattis
    I helped you earn it.
