White Embossed Flowers

I have a huge stash of decorative papers but I would so much rather make interesting backgrounds myself than try to use up that dp!  Here's a card using a background that I learned from this video.

I used blue and green watercolour paints on black cs, just dabbing them on randomly, spritzed with a bit of water to get them to flow more, and dried. I splattered a little bit of the paint and dried again.

Then stamped the grid / text stamp over it just in white ink. When the ink was dry, I put it in my MISTI and stamped and heat embossed the flowers in white. It's a good example of how much more vibrant heat embossing with white embossing powder makes the white ink than just stamping it without heat embossing.  I trimmed the panel down and mounted it on fun foam.

I die cut the sentiment out of the leftover bit of background. When I glued it on, I didn't get it as centred as I wanted so punched three tiny dots and added them after the sentiment. They will lead into what I write on the inside.

One Corner and a Grid Poinsettias

I've got cards for two different challenges today.

First up, the AAA Cards challenge:

This was hard for me as I like my images to be centred and symmetrical but it made me think of a Tim Holtz stamp I have that sort of creates a corner.

I stamped and heat embossed the poinsettias with red glitter embossing powder, and then did the same in gold embossing powder with the sentiment - I debated whether to put it below or in the right angle of the poinsettias but went below to balance the tall side of the card with the shorter top side.

Die cut with a stitched rectangle, popped up on fun foam, and added gold sequins to the centre of each poinsettia.

I covered the optional twist of "music" by using a Christmas carol title for my sentiment!

I put the stamp in my MISTI and inked it up with various mini Distress inks and markers, spritzing lightly and stamping between each colour.  When it was dry, I sponged around it with Antique Linen so that there would be contrast on the background for the grid.  Then I stamped over it with grid stamp and heat embossed in white.

Popped it up on fun foam, added brown gemstones to the centre of the poinsettia, and die cut the sentiment out of brown cs.

Christmas is my special occasion so I made this card:

Stamping a grid over an image is a new technique for me.  First I inked the poinsettia while it was in my MISTI, spritzing and stamping after applying each colour.  Then I stamped the grid in Versamark and added white embossing powder.  Then sponged around the image, popped it up on fun foam, added gemstones to the centre and a die cut sentiment.
