A blog devoted to the cards I make in my tiny upstairs space. When my sister stays there, she calls it an "artist's garret". I'm not an artist, but am an enthusiastic cardmaker - hence the title "Cardmaker's Garret".

French Marigold

I spent a wonderful day at Loll Thompson's house on Saturday.  We made lots of backgrounds using different techniques and did some watercolouring using Twinkling H2Os.  I made this card with two of the pieces from that day.

The background was made by spraying the honeycomb ef with yellow and orange sprays (homemade by Loll), and then the mixed media cs was pressed onto it.  I love the random coverage and the splatters I got at the top.

The marigold is stamped and heat embossed in gold on mixed media cs, then watercoloured with Twinkling H2Os.  It was fussy cut and then the stem was glued flat to the background and the upper part of the flower popped up.  I bordered the panel with gold cs.

Supplies:
Stamps - Stamplorations French Marigold, unknown sentiment
Ink - Versamark
Paper - mixed media cs, cream and gold cs
Size - 5.25" square
Accessories - yellow and orange homemade sprays, Sizzix honeycomb embossing folder, Spellbinders oval die, gold embossing powder, Twinkling H2Os, foam tape
