POMS
I have been slow stitching mostly this week; while visiting Mom; and also to relax.....
My Pomegranates are not even--just like REAL FRUITS!! LOL
Or so I'd like to think.
My biggest problem is getting the base big circles precise....; did some research and have sent for Karen Kay Buckleys Circle templates--hopefully they'll make it easier (ask me how i know about burned finger tips!!)
here are my two favorite centers:
I like the lilac-ey colors here against the
deeper maroon....(be kind--I know it's not
even on the sides)...it is what it is.....
AND
I like that gold/yellow batik...
All these are batiks....
I think for me, for now, the most important reason to continue working on these slowly
is to perfect my template ironing and my stitching. It's those outer curves that get ME.
;--000
I think of Mom while stitching away quietly and slowly.....
I hope she will be able to see them made into little Pom-Pom flowers.....
I am going to hook up with Slow Sunday quilting at Kathy's Quilts. (or try to...)
Hugs on this humid Sunday afternoon from

PURPLE
Finally caught up with my purple for RSC ; I really had to search for fabrics with any small amounts of purple in them....it's ok, but not my favorite rainbow block...hoping it will melt into the others when I put them all together....
And look who snuck in--he says there ARE purple stripes in there LOL AND
if Mr. Moon (below) can do it, so can I ..............MEOWER!!
My favorite--these lovely purple iris....
Waiting to hear what next month's color will be on RSC....
Hugs

LE VEST DOES PROGRESS
Here is my progress on Le Vest; as I knit it all in one piece (split for right and left fronts--as you can see)
I now am ready to join the shoulders. I L O V E the pattern of the double cables--I think it is called "fishbone"....
Even Monsieur Crane is doing his "Happy Dance" LOL
Here you can see how the cable goes right and left.....
and here is the border separating the cables....
this is a fun project; I have gotten more yarn to make another one in a darkish sapphire color....
Happy Memorial Day to you all

MY POMEGRANATE JOURNEY BEGINS
My first little appliqued Pomegranate flower
Certainly not perfect, but this was my slow (V E R Y S L O W LOL) stitchery
this Sunday. Moi--doing applique in layers?? Bien sur....
My good and intuitive friend MaryAnn came over at the last moment and sat and stitched and talked with me; we sipped some white wine and she finished the binding on her daughter's table topper. We took a tour of my sewing room and she did me a world of good. I gave her one of my bleeding heart plants and she promises me some astilbes....
Merci beaucoup mon amie....It has been a difficult time this week ....Mom is extremely weak
and very tired....sleeping more than not.
AND SO IT GOES...
Hugs to all

NOUVEAU LADIES NOW A FLIMSY!
Les Belles Dames all wanted to go out on this beautiful day...I heard them
chanting as i walked by my sewing room--
" dehors, dehors, dehors!!" LOL
(outside for you non-French-speaking ladies)
Tomorrow I will bring my Nouveau Ladies over to show Mom; maybe it will perk her up --she
has been a bit under the weather the past few days....;--(((
Now for a backing, label and binding....then les dames will be gaily sipping wine over my wine chest in my dining room....;--)))

(Wait a moment--what's this I hear--?????
A muffled motet ("La la lalala")being sung---What is this???
Now Les Autres Ladies want their time in the sun....et, c'est la vie, non???...
I guess I will be doing more embellishing this summer....

TOTALLY CRAZEE
I have managed a bit of sewing a few things this morning..
.I had found some pink and purple VELVET (Yummy!!) rick-rack--(that didn't cost an arm and a leg either) and am using it over the main seams...the pink has been stitched in place; maybe tomorrow I can manage the purple cross bars...(see above)
My Lady's "dream" of a vine and fern...
(.with some button flowers added ---- bottom left corner...)
My Lady is in her Bower............
(purple RR to be sewn on next and a few pansey pieces left over from my hexie table topper on lower right) I love Crazy Quilting---- Embroidery and everything all rolled into one....
how much fun is that!! ;--)))
A petite fleur at top center on top of pink rick rack.
(This is one of the lovely hand dyed laces that I got from "Ravolee Dreams" Etsy shop--
just gorgeous stuff--am getting another pkg as part of my Birthday gift--hmmmm this birthday goes on and on....LOL)
A few stitches at a time ........and.................this is becoming
"Nouveau Ladies Bower"
I have 6 more blocks in the wings ........... all awaiting finishing touches. Another Bevy of Beauties....
hugs

OVERDUE JANUARY POSTAGE & Stuff
"Am I Blue"
( My first postage stamp block and also RSC catch up for January)
Favorite fabs:
That Japanese Iris shows up once again
Fun Fishies...
I was able to sew on Helga for a while this morning as all my 2.5" squares are either precuts or mini charms, so no rotary work is necessary.
and afterwards:
I went to Big Y for some needed shopping (tomorrow we will be having our
driveway sealed so wouldn't want to have to haul groceries in from the road!;);
also iced my shoulder/arm for 20 minutes; then my back for another 20, followed by rehab exercises; then two loads of laundry...phew...who said I'd be bored in retirement. ;--000 Not me, MGee (lol)!!
Meanwhile my DH was out planting four new junipers (Sea Green variety) in our new front garden; now he is off to Home Depot for mulch....errands day.....
A cold front has swept in and erased all yesterday's humidity--so lovely out....
Off to make my salad for lunch--hugs,

SEASONS OF A GEISHA (Aide Memoire)
Since I cannot do any handwork (my arm is getting better, but it's a slow process ack!!)
I thought I'd put up my small geisha seasons quilts on my design wall : the above is called
"Can Spring be Far Behind"
Here is Summer
AND
WINTER BY THE SEA
LATE AUTUMN FLOWERS
In an effort to use up my Asian fabrics I have decided to make a lot of these little
blocks--I don't know if they will be a lap sized quilt or a medley of little quilts; I do want to hand quilt them...I LOVE LOVE LOVE Asian fabrics; they speak to me.....
I have also been enchanted for many years by Haiku--I am thinking of printing out a
few verses on the reverse sides of these.....
Because my hands cannot work, my mind is a'spinnin' --round and round. I am writing down my ideas as, for sure with my "advancing" (hahaha) brain, I will forget. So this is another Aide-Memoire posting....
Hugs to all

AIDE-MEMOIRE
What was set up for the Surprise quilt has been transformed into
VOILA!!!
a Nouveau Ladies workshop.
(NOTE TO MY READERS:
This post is mainly to remind me of how I'd like to set up the borders.... Feel free to skip if you are not into this stuff.....;--)))) )
Couched ribbons with little rosettes holding down each corner and holding the ends...
You get the idea....let's hope I will....
{as a side note..........and a memory..........}
....... here is my Mom's old Sewing Basket that she rescued from a flea market and
painted and lined:
It has become the repository for my Crazy Quilting supplies and unfinished blocks...
she was a precise person and this turned out beautifully....
See the lining--an old favorite fabric of mine. She took apart the innards of this basket somehow (I am definitely not good at that stuff!) and then re-tacked it with tiny nails inserting that liner. perfectly neatly...yep--that's her work alright!!
Every time I sew on my Nouveau Ladies I think of her working on this.....
Here is my little "cheat sheet" and some of my laces that i got from Raviole Dreams on Etsy...a few years back....
AND
i had to use this beautiful hand dyed heart on the left side to match..................
this nouveau kind of fleur-de Lis on the opposite.
So Ladies, i have my hand work cut out for me for the Summer.
Thanks for stopping by...think of me on my back deck couching those ribbons....a definite challenge....
hugs, Julierose, La Blageuse ( And..."Still crazy after all these years"....)
