All Good Things Must Come to an End

Alas!  She was more ambitious than I!
Sadly, we couldn't "let it be".
(Shhhhhhh.  Don't judge me.)
All good things must come to an end.
If only Spring could make up her mind,
I'd be cleaning out flower beds as I should.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Happy ♥ Day

First, I heard her.  That unmistakeable, persistent cheep.
I went to get my phone (camera)
and walked slowly to the window.
(Any movement, and she flies!)
Do you see her?
Top, left hand quadrant.
I moved.  She flew.
Minutes later...

Oh, Happy ♥ Day!

I'm SO ready to get outdoors--
just not ready to negotiate the snow banks quite yet.

Faux Birds

Inspired by some not-so-faux birds last week, I wrote the following poem - "birds"

little birds
big birds
black birds
brown birds
screeching birds
singing birds
single birds
double birds
sitting birds
flying birds
bids on the ground
birds in the trees
birds flapping
birds gliding
social birds
solitary birds
excited birds
calm birds
timid birds
bold birds
bossy birds
docile birds
busy birds
idle birds

June Arrives--Full of Beauty

I've lost the identification tag on THIS one (above).
I'd forgotten that it flowers!
Lamium it is!  (Sherlock Street to the rescue - again.)
These little robins must have been fresh out of the nest.
They didn't know enough to be afraid!
The irises are putting on quite a show!
Seems that everywhere their flowers are stunningly beautiful.
A young clematis & a more mature astilbe play their roles in our flower beds.

Heralds of Spring

Spring seems to be taking SO long to bloom here!
Our yard and flower beds are still too wet to work in...
but on my short walk to the Post Office this morning,
I saw these sights.
I'd REALLY like to tidy up the robin's nest!
Her presence has evidently discouraged any new posts on the bulletin board!

Little Robin Redbreast

Can you see her? (The white arrow is pointing to the back of her head and her beak is pointing to the top left of the photo.) She's got the right idea this cold, wet May morning!  She has built her nest outside our living room window.  It is such fun to have this view. I've taken this one through the window with my cell phone.  It's interesting to watch the way she's "hung in there" through extreme winds, rain, and even hail the past week.
If she can do it, so can I!
