I paused to take in the beauty of our lilies.

our do-nothing-roses
I call them "do nothing roses" because
that's exactly what we do! Nothing.
They seldom disappoint us.
This year just might be the best year of blooms YET!
Transplanted from the flower bed of a friend of a friend,
they continue to bless us with their beauty...
Memorial Day 2017
After storms and more rain yesterday,
my husband kept busy cleaning out his shed
and pulling weeds to prepare for this new cover of mulch.
Definitely a full and productive day!
Several additional pieces of yard art were uncovered in the shed.
I found places for them!
If...
"If you can dig a hole, you can plant a Star", reads the tag.
We can, and we did!
The rose was potted and a memorial plant sent by her nieces and nephews
to my mother's funeral.
I ended up being the fortunate recipient of the bush.
We dug the hole this morning at one of the corners of our front porch.
A light drizzle fell on it all day.
I think the white roses will look lovely against the white trim of the porch!
November 2
What's UP with this?!?
Not in the 8-10 years we've had these rose bushes have we had a pink rose on them!

Hubby stopped to take photos while mulching leaves today.
Yes, the 70 degree temperatures made even the roses smile!
without ANY help from me
While my husband mowed the yard this hot, sultry evening....
I went to check out the farthest bed from the house.
I was delighted to find the latest flowers had arranged themselves together quite beautifully--
without ANY help from me at all!
Oh, the wonder of perennials.
It's OUR Turn
Seems everything is a little slower on our property....
but it finally IS our turn to bloom!
We had really cut back these rose bushes along side one side of our sleeping cabin out back...
My! How they bloom...
June 4
Things were looking a little shaggy here....
Several clumps of iris were pruned...
as was this wild raspberry (?) bush which had rambled quite long enough!
While carrying piles of plant debris across the yard,
I passed some of our first roses and paused to photograph them
when I returned with empty arms.
Stepping toward the back patio steps,
I admired the delicate look of this unidentified bush-trimmed-tree-like.
And then came the rain!
Sign, Sunset, Shed
My husband fashioned this sign out of a longer one...
cutting it into three pieces, drilling holes, and connecting with wire.
I couldn't be happier with it!
Around the corner from the rustic fence piece....these daisies.
And on the other side of the house,
columbine.
In the garage, a garage sale find (below)
awaits placement on the shed.
It's been SUCH a beautiful day,
culminating in a spectacularly simple sunset this evening.
With the dawn of Friday morning--the hanging of the garage sale find.
And 1/3 cup of Epsom salts is worked into the soil
around the roots of this old rose bush followed by a generous watering.
Maybe a little late, but I recall it resulted in some fine blooms a year or two ago...
We're off to a great start today!

Before the Derecho
Some scenes before
the forecasted derecho
which really didn't turn out to be anything
more than a thunderstorm.
There's A Place for Us
After reading Sue's suggestions about what to look for at thrift stores,
I feel MOST confident that I'll find a place for the galvanized chicken feeders
and this old wooden potty chair.
SOMEWHERE!
