May Day

These tulips were rather late in coming
only to be beat upon by the recent hard rains and winds.
Sorry to have been able to enjoy them for such a short time...
Meanwhile, I'm eager for the sunshine to be matched by temperatures
warm enough to actually sit outside and enjoy it!
May Day it is...and the sun is having a difficult time trying to decide
whether to shine or hide!

Another Garden Walk

 West Central Neighborhood
 Fort Wayne, IN

As wonderful as most of the interiors were....
it is the gardens that I enjoyed most!

 Beautiful views -- beautiful day.

Behind the Cabin

I'd forgotten how the sun reflecting on the bottle
duplicates the colors of the day lilies that are just now beginning to bloom...
(For more views of our cabin through the years,
you can click on the label/link below this post.)

Coming and Going

While I was visiting this little guy who is fighting a
 nasty rhinovirus,
things in our yard and flowerbeds were coming and going!
The roses are coming on strong.  The bushes are covered with blossoms.

Soon the clematis will be out in full, colorful force, too!
The iris are saying their good-byes...
at the same time the lavender says, "Hello!"
From the comfort of our newly refurbished swing/glider
I take in the sights of the peony's "coming"
the flowering of  its neighbors in the flower bed...

and the "going" of the stone path, newly cleared of its weeds.
What beautiful weather we are enjoying!
A rain would be welcomed just about now...

Gardens R Us, Part 1

Some unusual sights that greeted us along the wooded trails
on the backyard hillside...
The rest of the yard was beautiful, too--
but these trails were enchanting!
There were little surprises at every turn!
...and a couple of the fairies we found along the path...

This was my favorite of seven gardens in the
Norwalk, OH garden walk yesterday.
For some peeks into the other 6 gardens, go to my other blog here...
Today we travel toward Buffalo for "Gardens R Us" Part 2!

Savoring a Sunny Saturday

We're slowly adding mulched leaves and grass to this area around the tree.  We put newspaper under them to kill the grass.  The plan is to turn it all over next spring and begin a new bed and seating area from which to view...
Maybe the next to the last tomato of the season!
our little vegetable garden intermingled with...
 roses, grasses, hosta, sedum, and
 mums.
Some ground cover (still blooming) continues to spread, while
the maple in front holds its colors a little while longer.
And all day - sunshine!

What Gardener Worth His Salt Sits?

Sitting in your garden is a feat to be worked at with unflagging determination and single-mindedness - for what gardener worth his salt sits down.  I am deeply committed to sitting in the garden.-  Mirabel Osler

Having read that, I feel less embarrassed by the number of seats we have in our yard and garden!
Dare I confess, we have a few more than these?!
