Lviv Cat

Its funny to recall that a 'long time ago' I was discussing with Ana the existance of 'Postcrossing fairies' i.e. people who repeatedly surprise us with cards...and now Ana has become one for me, always finding a place in (traveling) mailboxes for cards with my address on them...in this case I really didn't know what to stare at more, the front or the back! Hvala bossita :))

UNESCO - The Primeval Beech Forests Of The Carpathians, Ukraine

Subtitle: When you have such great postcrossing friends who fill the card with stamps :)) Thank you Darya!
The primeval beech forests whs is shared between Ukraine and Slovakia, but there are also ancient beech forests of Germany comprising one site, as they all represent an outstanding example of undisturbed, complex temperate forests and exhibit the most complete and comprehensive ecological patterns and processes of pure stands of European beech across a variety of environmental conditions. They contain an invaluable genetic reservoir of beech and many species associated and dependent on these forest habitats.
Forests, something we miss here in Dalmatia, sniff

Khaleesi With The Pet Dragon

The season 4 of the megapopular Game Of Thrones has started some weeks ago, but I haven't seen any new episodes yet...one of the questions is, will Khaleesi take the throne? I would be supportive if I didn't think that she is lacking the charisma of a great warrior...maybe something will change as time progresses :) Thank you Helga for my first GOT card..!

Ukraine Borscht Map

The eyes of the world are directed to Ukraine these days, and not for a good reason...In hope things will resolve for the best in this beautiful country, I am posting a map of their regional soup specialty, and wonderful illustration stamps (2008) of Ukrainian traditions - holiday of Holy Transfiguration and christening in Crimea, wedding ceremony and Harvest Festival in Dnipropetrovsk.
Are thoughts are with you Ukraine!

UNESCO - L'viv Historic Centre, Ukraine

The grand building on this postcard is the Dominican church and monastery in Lviv's Old Town. It was originally built as the Roman Catholic church of Corpus Christi, and today serves as the Greek Catholic church of the Holy Eucharist. The Dominican Order first arrived in Lviv during the 13th cent.; the cornerstone for the present day Baroque church was laid in 1749.
Lviv's Old Town was included to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1998, and there are about fifteen other landmarks being part of it. I have received this postcard for an RR I think, there is no name or any other recognition sign on it...thank you to whoever sent this lovely card :) The blue cancellation is amazing, as are the stamps..!

UNESCO - Residence Of Bukovian And Dalmatian Metropolitans, Ukraine

The Residence of Bukovinian and Dalmatian Metropolitans is an outstanding example of 19th century architecture - the property covers an area of 8 ha and comprises the former Residence of the Metropolitans with its St. Ivan of Suceava Chapel; the former seminary and Seminary Church, and the former monastery with its clock tower within a garden and landscaped park.
I fail to find out more about the Dalmatian connections...as I am Dalmatian myself, of course I'm curious :)
Thank you smeshynka for this addition to my slowly-growing collection and for the pretty stamps :)))

A Girl With A Fox, Ukraine

Thank you olenenka :))

Green Dragon, Ukraine

Series 'Fantasy' - Fishing

I like the colours on this one, and kind of an emotional moment between the magical creatures - if that makes sense heh. My knowledge of Russian cyrrilics is still too poor to make out the author's name (Oksana Zavgoridiy? I'm getting there!)
Thanks to mindanao and the offers tag :) nice stamps!

Traditional Wedding Costumes, Ukraine

UA-132953

A lovely card from Ukraine showing the wedding costumes from the 1920's, originating from a small village Kosmach in the Ukranian oblast Ivano-Frankivsk (which touches the Romanian border). The stamps are great too!

Sviatohirsk Lavra, Ukraine

This wonderful view of Sviatohirsk Lavra was sent to me by Olga (Olenenka) in our fav 'choose a country' RR :) as usual, she used an array of gorgeous stamps! forever thankful ;)

The Sviatohirsk Larva/cave monastery is situated on the right bank of the Severtsky Donets river, in Donetsk Oblast (eastern Ukraine). The first monks came and settled here in the 14-15th centuries. Unfortunatelly it was destroyed by the Soviets in the 1930's - but after Ukraine regained its independance in 1991 it was promptly restored, and its community now consists of more than 100 people (and growing).
It looks like such an awesome place to visit!
