Before I disappear for the weekend, more views of Isle Of Man from my dear friend, he was worried if the map was mappy' enough, but I think its one of the coolest I have ever seen xD

Views Of Isle Of Man

Work took my friend to Isle of Man and here you can see its symbols, as well as the capital Douglas and the medieval Castle Rushen in aptly called Castletown :)

The symbols, or as the back of the postcard says all that is Manx, are the Loaghtan Sheep, the official currency the Manx Pound (though Pound Sterling is also used), Manx tartan and the Manx Parliament, and in the middle the well-known flag in triskelion design showing three armoured legs with golden spurs upon a red background. It has been the official flag of Mann since 1931 and is based on the Manx coat of arms, which dates to the 13th century.

The Laxey Wheel, Isle Of Man

The Laxey Wheel or 'Lady Isabella' is a large waterwheel built in the village of Laxey in the Isle of Man with a diameter of 22.1m. It was built in 1854 to pump water from the mineshafts - today its the largest working waterwheel in the world..! The wheel was restored  in 1989 and put under the control of Manx National Heritage in 1989.

Isle Of Man started issuing its own postage stamps in 1973. This is my first w&s postcard from there :))What I just love here is that the stamps match the postcard - thanks a lot James, very thoughtful!! They're from the National Heritage series issued in 2004.
