Snowdonia, Wales

Continuing with getaway thoughts...Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales, located in Snowdonia National Park (Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri) in Gwynedd, and has been described as "probably the busiest mountain in Britain''.It is designated as a national nature reserve for its rare flora and fauna.
I have climbed the mount exactly six years ago, and loved every second of it...well almost, at one point we stepped off the designated track and the stones started slipping under my feet, and i could see nothing but clouds and mist around me, but also i am easily freaked out heh. Thank you Bryony-Fjara for sending me this card to remind me of the good times :)
And the stamps are quite refreshing for these hot summer days..!

UNESCO - Castles And Town Walls Of King Edward In Gwynedd, Wales

These extremely well-preserved monuments are examples of colonization and defense works carried out throughout the reign of Edward I - the four castles of Beaumaris, Conwy, Caernarfon and Harlech, as well as Conwy and Caernarfon fortified towns from the late 13th and early 14th century.
Caernarfon Castle and the town served as the administrative centre of North Wales, while the Harlech Castle was built near the Irish Sea during Edward's invasion of Wales. I also have a postcard of Conwy, and ah yes my scattered brain was sure I have blogged about it but is nowhere to be found...so it will be added at some later point :) Conwy and Harlech were sent to me by Anu, already a regular here on my blog ;) I have visited Caernarfon some years ago and loved it! Here I can add a few of my photos...

Little Cymru Sheep

Not really sure how to title this postcard heh. But its an utterly cute way to remind myself of the trip to Mount Snowdon in Wales, a great experience though the descent ended up in being soaking wet!

Travelling Wales...Again, Yes!

So you get on the cool Garratt steam locomotive train and watch the Cnicht mountain of the Moelwynion range pass by, then do some serious trekking thru magnificent Snowdonia and catch a bus to your camping site in wonderful little village of Carrog on the river Dee....what do you think? :D
Thank you Anu, I enjoy travelling through your cards ;)

UNESCO - Pontcysyllte Aqueduct And Canal, UK

The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is a navigable aqueduct that carries the Llangollen Canal over the valley of the River Dee in north east Wales. Completed in 1805, it is the longest and highest aqueduct in Britain. The aqueduct 307 m long, 3.4 m wide and 1.60 m deep - it consists of a cast iron trough supported 38 m above the river on iron arched ribs carried on nineteen hollow masonry piers.
Wouldn't it be just too cool to ride on one of those canal boats?! Thank you Eileen, and for the special Olympics winners stamp :))

The Black Mountains, Wales

More of beautiful nature - The Black Mountains are a group of hills in southeast Wales, spreading across the border into Herefordshire, England. It is one of the four ranges of hills that comprise the Brecon Beacons National Park, popular for hiking, mountainbiking and horseriding.
I can imagine! A clear sunny day, picnic in a bag...I only wonder why these verdant hills have such a name..?! The Urquhart Castle on the stamp looks equally stunning <3 Thank you Anu, love your cards!

Y Wyddor (The (Welsh) Alphabet)

Siart yr Wyddor a luniwyd gan
gan T. C. Evans, Cadrawd, tua 1900

So, do you understand what is written under the images? I surely don't! The Welsh language looks and sounds so exotic, and it is not recommendable to be convinced you are pronouncing any of the words correctly...when I was in Wales I had troubles with the bus drivers who couldnt understand where on earth I was heading..! xD (but perhaps thats just me..! :P)
Welsh is a member of the Brythonic branch of the Celtic languages; only about 22% of the population of Wales are able to speak welsh, but the trend is on the rise and the language is being revived. Here are some words in welsh:
wy (egg), carreg (stone), gwin (wine), asyn (donkey), cerdyn (card), caethiwed (addiction) xD

Thanks ever so much Keelley for this great card! <3
Or should I say DIOLCH!

YOTD Stamps - UK

The beautiful Conwy Castle is situated on the north coast of Wales. It was built in the 13th century during King Edward I's reign. I somehow missed it when i was travelling in north Wales :/ but to my defence there is so much to see in Wales and we only had four days, two of which were spent mostly travelling..!
Such a wonderful place to visit, i hope to visit again someday <3
As always, a great swap thanks to Anu! x
There is a set of 15 different YOTD stamps issued by Royal Mail in what is called a Smilers Sheet. Wow that would mean a looot of swaps to get them all on postcards..! lol
