Montauk Point, USA

Another great coastal view comes from the US showing the Montauk Point Light,  a lighthouse located in Montauk Point State Park at the easternmost point of Long Island, Suffolk County, New York. Montauk Light was the first lighthouse in New York State, and is the fourth-oldest active lighthouse in the United States. The tower is 110'6" (34m) high; the current light, installed in July 2001, equivalent to approximately 290,000 candle power, flashes every 5 seconds and can be seen a distance of 17 nautical miles.
Apparently surfers like this spot too, even during the winter when its cooold. Thanks Patrick :)

Prišnjak Island And Lighthouse, Croatia

Before I leave for a week (but will try to sneak in a post or two) here is something that reminds me of my trips home from work - we pass this lighthouse every time, its right 'behind the corner' from my hometown Murter and when I see it I know we are almost there :) I had one postcard and one matching stamp left - for some reason there are no postcards of it to be found anymore :/
Have a great week ahead everyone!

Capbreton Lighthouse, France

Capbreton  is a commune of around 7500 inhabitants in the Landes department in Aquitaine in south-western France, about 40 km to the north of Biarritz. Here are two lighthouses in fact...wish I could stand now where this woman is standing...Nevermind it looks a bit chilly, in fact we had quite a storm here just yesterday.

Porer Lighthouse, Croatia

Today's theme on Sunday Stamps has inspired me to post this card which is all about Croatian Lighthouses :) I believe many involved in postcrossing are familiar with the image of Porer Lighthouse, built in 1846 and situated on an islet of the same name, 2 miles southwest of Istria's southernmost cape Kamenjak. The islet is mere 80 meters in diameter and the lighthouse goes up to 34 meters.
The set of stamps was issued in 2008 and shows three lighthouses of the northern Adriatic - Pinida, Vnetak and Zaglav. Yea I have sent this postcard to myself cos I love having stamps of the same theme as a postcard hehh :))
If you want to see more Croatian lighthouses feel free to visit my cover blog.
And by all means, check what the others have posted ;)

Vlamingh Head Lighthouse, Ningaloo Coast, Australia

A gorgeous sunset view of the Vlamingh Head Lighthouse on the Western Australia's Ningaloo Coast. I actually wanted this card because I thought I'd add it to my Unesco collection - but Ningaloo Coast is primarily protected because of its reef and unique marine life, so I'll be searching for a different card too! I LOVE it nonetheless :)
Another thanks to dear Heather, for new stamps too. And with the cancellations, yay!!

Nantucket Island, USA

Friendship sloop Endeavor is a reproduction of vessels
that earned their living
from the sea at the turn of the century.

Nantucket is an island in the United States, 30 km south of Cape Cod (Massachusetts). It is a summer colony i.e. the population of the island soars from about 10 000 to 50 000 during the summer months. I heard of it from different movies and TV series, always mentioned like THE place to go!

Phare Du Four, Bretagne, France

One of the things postcrossing showed me is that Bretagne is a region with great coastal views and lighthouses. I was thrilled to get this huge card for Themed Messages RR from lapoussine! It shows Phare du Four, a lighthouse at the northern entrance to the Chenal du Four, the shipping route between Île d'Ouessant and the mainland (Finistère department).
Fantastic card, thank you  Erin! :))

Marblehead Lighthouse, Ohio, USA

'Aerial view of Marblehead Lighthouse, the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the Great Lakes. Constructed in 1821 on Ohio's Marblehead Peninsula, this lighthouse is on the National Register of Historic Places.'
Everything was written on the back of the card, i am being a bit lazy heh xD
Thank you Tanya for this great lighthouse card! :)

UNESCO - Historic Centre Of Salvador De Bahia, Brazil

Wonderful night views of the Salvador lighthouse and the historic quarter Pelourinho (whs). The full historic name is Cidade de São Salvador da Bahia de Todos os Santos; Salvador is the capital of the Bahia state in NE Brazil, and also carries the title of Brazil's capital of happiness :))). And is the country's third most populous city! (ca 2.7 million)
Its historical centre is renowned for its Portuguese colonial architecture - after all, it was the first colonial capital of Brazil and is one of the oldest cities in the country. All this makes it a very desirable holiday spot doesnt it? :)
Both cards were sent by dear Cristina/Trisk, who always uses awesome stamps and therefore contributes to the beauty of my Brazilian postcard collection. Big thanks, as always! ;)

Aniva Lighthouse, Russia

 Series 'Lighthouses of Russia'
Lighthouse Aniva, Sakhalin, Sea of Okhotsk

This beautiful, dramatic picture is of the Aniva lighthouse, one of the abandoned Russian Polar Nuclear lighthouses built in the time of the USSR. These lighthouses had to be fully autonomous, so the Soviet engineers decided to implement atomic energy to power up those structures - which was done in a form of  special lightweight atomic reactors. These lighthouses were kind of robot-structures; they counted themselves the time of the year and the length of the daylight, turned the lights on when needed and sent radio signals to the nearby ships. How impressive! I love these history lessons :)
The card was in my favs until i hosted my group in vacation rr, and Elena sent me the card, with a new set of stamps showing cascades - thank you :)

Basco Lighthouse, The Philippines

I better show all my cards from the last batch as the new one is coming tomorrow - i am always so excited when the mail comes from the land! I have done lots of tagging recently so i know there will be many great new cards to post here :)))
I got this lighthouse card via private swap with superfluffy - thanks Steph! I do love lighthouses, they are usually surrounded by a stunning setting - or they simply look imposing and strong; our guides to a safe haven. Here accompanied with the classic Philippine jeepney :)
Basco lighthouse is situated in Batanes, the northernmost province of the Philippines. The province is composed of 10 islands and is 162 km north of the Luzon mainland (190 km south of Taiwan). The photos i've found online are quite stunning, reminds me a bit of Scotland!

Alexandria, Egypt

We returned to Egypt via Eilat and settled in a nice bungalow in Dahab - which is a great place to chill out, quite touristy but not in a hectic way. Diving in the Red Sea sounded tempting..! But I have my own fears to tackle first :s
We bussed back to Cairo, where we spent another couple of days as I was caught by a cold and had high temperature (boo). But there was not much time to waste so we headed to Alexandria, where we had a day of exploration before catching a bus to Siwa oasis.  Of course we 1st checked the library! The Bibliotheca Alexandrina was inaugurated in 2003 near the site of the ancient Royal Library of Alexandria, once the largest library in the world. This one is quite awesome too!

The 1st postcard shows the El-Mursi Abul-Abbas Mosque, which looked stunning in the moonlight...Alexandria must have looked amazing back in the Ptolemaic days - everything was grand, very much like this lighthouse on the 2nd postcard - the Pharos of Alexandria. With its height between 120 and 140 meters it was for centuries the highest man-made building in the world. Sadly it was devastated in the series of earthquakes. In 1480 the last of its remnant stones were used to build the Citadel of Qaitbay on the site.
In the alexandrian post-office I found new stamps, goodie :)
These were posted on the 13th of December on the way back from the oasis.
