Vlamingh Head Lighthouse, Ningaloo Coast, Australia

A gorgeous sunset view of the Vlamingh Head Lighthouse on the Western Australia's Ningaloo Coast. I actually wanted this card because I thought I'd add it to my Unesco collection - but Ningaloo Coast is primarily protected because of its reef and unique marine life, so I'll be searching for a different card too! I LOVE it nonetheless :)
Another thanks to dear Heather, for new stamps too. And with the cancellations, yay!!

Art / Mandrill, Australia

The painting is called Camp At The Olga's and is done by Australian artist Ray Reeves. I love different ways and possibilities of expressing oneself through art - I wish I was better at it myself...!
The portrait of a mandrill is so powerful and...human-like, isn't it?

I have been continuously swapping with Heather for many months now, she always has such great cards! A special thanks for the awesome stamps too and the 1st-day pictorial cancellation  <3

Aboriginal Australia

The back of the card seys: The Circle Of Life artefacts used by the Aboriginal people of Australia. At one with the Land and belonging to the Earth, the Mother.
Heather is wondering what the seed pods are for, and i cant say that anything remotely logical springs to mind! But i've found some interesting texts about the circle of life in aboriginal culture, it is too complex to put it in a few sentences here but i encourage everyone to look it up :)

More Awesome Australian Animals

I've been home for a week - which is almost a luxury at this point as the tourist season is definately picking up. It was great to see my family as they all gathered from different directions (Zadar, Gars near Munich(Germany)) and to finally go to a music festival - prefectly lead by Jamiroquai and Arcade Fire :))) and not least important, i got some reeeally nice postcards. so here they are!

From a private swap with Heather, again great Australian cards - and this time with two very special creatures :) I have always been amazed by platypus, ever since i was a kid. When i was in Australia, i was very excited and impatient on the day we went to the Healesville Sanctuary, cos i knew i will see a platypus for the very first time! But i could only watch them swimming in their tanks...as opposed to my experience with the tasmanian devil :) We were in Tasmania on a 4-day car trip, and one of the awesome places we visited on the way was an animal shelter, where i had my closest encounter with australian cuties - i got to pet a koala and a tasmanian devil (who was very timid while in caretaker's hands!) and held a veeery cuddly wombat :)))
Ahh i could go on and on about these things..........heh
Sadly the number of tasmanian devils dicreases, among other reasons because of cancer :(

Red Panda & Royal Wedding, Australia

What an awesome surprise from Heather: my first red panda card (yaaay!) AND the royal wedding stamps, am stoked! thank you very much for this grin-inducer :)
Tonight there's a movie on TV about how prince William & Kate met and what they went through up to the point of the wedding being announced. And tomorrow of course is a big day! I am not a fan of flash weddings in general - but this has many more connotations, and will be interesting to watch for sure. I'll peek around the corner :D

Cute Joey

Australia has such an amazing wildlife! I am so happy to have been able to experience it first hand 4 and a 1/2 ago, whilst i was visiting my friend in Melbourne. (I'll go into more detail about that in my forthcoming australian-trip section!) I am always very very happy to receive postcards from down under, and thanks to Heather i have been very very very happy happy this summer as we engaged in private swaps:)

My 1st reaction to this joey postcard was 'ohh my God, how cute is that??!!'. I have never seen a baby kangaroo live and was astounded by this unexpected adorability :)
