UPDATED: Irish classics in picture story (1956)

Shout-out to friend of the blog James Bacon for proving me with these rare covers. The Lambiek entry for Jerome Sullivan (here) mentions 4 stories published in 1956 - issue 2 being called Sarsfield's the Word and Sarsfield's the Man! and issue 4 being called Knockknagow

Good luck tracking these down!

Update: thanks to friend of the blog David McDonald a few images for issue #2 have now been unearthed. These are taken from issue #108 (volume 12, #4) of Denis Gifford's Association of Comic Enthusiasts newsletter.

'Rocket' space club badge

I'm always happy to feature comic merchandise on the blog & 1950s space stuff so it's a delight to combine these interests in one set of images that I recently swiped from eBay.

UPDATED: Boys and girls Exhibitions

Following on from a recent post on Down the Tubes yesterday (here) I thought I should fish out my collection of programmes related to the exhibition - and a few other exhibitions too...

Update...I've now included a leaflet from the 1962 exhibition all about 'Supercar' - contains a comic strip by Eric Eden (who worked on the original Dan Dare strip amongst other things).

The update I have is that I have recently come across this piece of ephemera relating to the (1958) exhibition...a recent £3 bargain on ebay

and now this recent eBay find...a fantastic leaflet complete with (an Eric Eden drawn) comic strip...
