On our trip in SD, we hit up the Wild Animal Park.
It was a good break from all the swimming.
When we first arrived, we headed straight to the Safari tram.
On the way to the Safari, we stopped to feed the very friendly ducks, and we also saw this wart hog and her baby.
and this leopard.
We made it to the Safari tram and our tour lady was great.
I learned quite a bit.
I had been reading reviews about this park and a lot of the remarks mentioned how expensive the park was and how it's not really for the public, its just to help fund their research and breeding.
Well they were absolutely right.
During our ride i became very educated about the animals.
Many are on their way to extinction, some can't or won't breed in captivity, etc.
I found it all fascinating and realized why it cost what it did.
****
There were a lot of Giraffes.
I want to say that the guide said that some species of Giraffe have now been put on the Endangered Species list. sad.
This White Rhino is one of 6 left in the world.
Pochers sell the horns for $36,000 an ounce.
Its a delicacy in Asia.
We then headed to the Elephant exhibit and watched the elephants find their morning snacks.
Bos got this little orange tiger bag with his kids meal at lunch, and he loved it.
Carried it around like this the rest of the day.
The Gorilla's.
This ones named happened to be Cammie. awesome.
This Gorilla just had a baby.
She carries it up-side-down.
We had a great time at the park.
It got pretty hot and the boys started to get grumpy, so after the Gorilla's, we said our goodbyes.
Thanks again to gma and gpa for taking us!
