Gracie's Christmas Rose

Stop! I promise your at the right blog!LOL!! I know this is so totally different than my normal style but I was in the mood for something different. My Mom and I recently purchased some digis from a couple of the places Crissy designs for. This weeks challenge at Sunday with Crissy is Christmas in July. Now I will admit I probably cheated a tad on this one. Its very hard for me to get inspired to make a Christmas card with 100 degree weather!LOL! I knew I wanted to use this Gracie's roses image b/c it reminds me Christmas pictures we always get made for the kids so I went through some of my Christmas dp and came across this piece from BG wassail. Ive been wanting to try some monochromatic coloring and thought this sweet image was perfect for giving it a go. I used warm greys to color her and added some antique linen to the edges. I used another crocheted flower Anne was so sweet to send me and sponged it also w/the antique linen. I used Jens sfytt for my layout. Im really happy with how this turned out! See...never hurts to try something different!LOL! Have a good one!

Daddy Lion

Yall know Im a last minute kind of girl so its no surprise I spent yesterday making Fathers Day cards right?!LOL!! I usually put off masculine cards since they are not as fun to make for me...except this card! I love how this turned out and it was actually alot of fun coloring it. I used this image by Crissy Armstrong available at Squigglefly. Ive been trying to decide if I wanted to use this image for bday or Fathers day for Danny. Its perfect since Danny is a Leo and of course the sign for Leo is a lion and we have 3 little lions! Maybe before August Crissy will come up with another "perfect image"!LOL! I love her images and she also a master at coloring so I visit her blog often-tons of inspiration available!LOL! I found this dotty background technique and decided to try it. My background didnt turn out exactly like I planned but Im still happy with it for a first try. Okay so I colored the image using copics y32, e30, e31, e42, e43, e44, and e49 for their fur and e04 and e09 for the noses. For the dotted background I used bg78, 75, 72, w3, w1, and w0. After I had my image colored I went looking for dp and stumbled across this Recollections dp from Michaels. I LOVED this dp in the fall -it was my fave but I also found that the colors in it were great for masculine cards! I paired the dp with a kraft base for Jeanie's TKT. Since this is a masculine card and the image is large I didnt want to embelish too much so I just colored a few dew drops and added them to the card. Thats its for me today! Hope all the Fathers out there have a wonderful day!
