Get A Fucking Life
Goddamn, who the fuck are these guys? I found this little ditty of an album at some point a decade or so ago... unlike everything else on the internet at that time all Napstered the fuck up, these clowns actually had a web domain through their record label where you could just download their mp3's for free (I dug that shit up here). And thanks to last.fm the lyrics and bio of the band have been preserved for as long as they exist (check that shit here).
That being said and the fact that this amazing two-piece has sadly faded into obscurity, this album fucking RULES. Brutal venom-core bitching at most everything, it's amazing most of this was conceived by two drunk dudes deciding to record a full album in 90 minutes. 23 songs later, post-dubs aside, the You Probably Suck is one brutal riff after another with screamo-ish lyrics killing everything in their path. Fans of Eighteen Visions get ready to jerk without repent. Unreal. Enjoy.

Straight Outta Drummondville
Wow, give it up to fucking Québec people. The best French screamo nonsense from Canada since Despised Icon decided they wanted to quit and "raise families". Good for them. Back here on planet Earth I was happy to stumble upon the first LP from fellow countrymen Politess. Way less harmonic-heavy deathcore and much more screaming hardcore this record reminds me a lot more of what Eighteen Visions was trying to do back in the day. It drags at times but it's still the best heavy shit I've heard this week. Gotta love the saxophone overdubs as well - shades of Siege. Check 'em on bandcamp and enjoy.

Die Fucker
Jesus fucking Christ try googling this band and getting any goddamned info (or not get on some NSA watch list). Straight outta Kalamazoo, MI comes the unfortunately monikered Jihad which probably sounded like a fucking great name way back in 1995 while the band was tearing up the hardcore scene around WMU. The band was able to release a bunch of splits and singles throughout the mid-90's - their surprisingly original brand of 'core being kind of a weird mishmash between Boston snot and the crossover sound fronted by Biohazard and their ilk. Totally paving the way for the screamo scene led by bands like Eighteen Visions (or Throwdown, whom they oddly remind me of) a few years later, Old Testament is an amazing compilation covering the band's sadly short career. My favorite material is from the split with Inourselves although all of it is enjoyably hard and blisteringly fucking fast. Great breakdowns, great screams, lotsa bitterness and... well you get the idea. Enjoy.

Bahstun Screamo
Defunct Boston screamo. Nothing too original but you're usually guaranteed two or three solid songs on an album like this. "Stop Motion Aesthetic" and "Commotion Strange" are those songs. Manic, ear-splitting emo-core that all seems a bit silly when you stop and think about it. Still, in case anyone's paying attention, this is the 2002 re-release on Iodine Records with a couple bonus live radio tracks. Enjoy.

How To Survive A Vicious Cock Fight
Pretty decent mathcore/screamo debut from Bay City, MI denizens See You Next Tuesday (C-U-N... aw, you get it). Solid über tempo-change deathcore all pulled off at a breakneck pace, the songs are mercifully short (the entire album running time is a scant 20 minutes) so the schizophrenic cacophony never gets a chance to really fray your nerves. The band recorded a second album, the surprisingly typical death metal-ish Intervals in 2008, a disappointing musical departure from their debut. They promptly disbanded within a year.

Miserable music for a miserable day...
Grand Rapids noise mongers Dredd are the perfect soundtrack to my thoughts today after last night's debacle. Sick blasts of blastbeat grind punctuated by a few sludgey grooves here and there, all tied together with some good old manic screaming. Actually one or two of their songs venture into hardcore territory for a nice change; all in all it's a solid ten minutes of anger, hatred, regret and misery. Just how I'm feeling. Check out their Bandcamp page for some more info, I am definitely looking forward to seeing where this band goes. Enjoy.

This Is Scary....
Screamo metalcore pioneers Eighteen Visions' second full-length Until The Ink Runs Out is still one of the best heavy albums of the last decade. Sounding nothing like their later alternative nonsense, the album is fast, brutal and angry. A unintentionally hilarious statement from a "later on" fan sums it up: "well, i like 18V, but this is like....wow....scarrrrry.....itz like way different." Thank you, 12-year-old idiot.
