Nappie

As you may know, I organize since several years a small event

called FIGZ to promote the hobby of painting figures.

My son Benno did design a simple mascotte for FIGZ:

It's Nappie with some Dutch fun in it.

He has got a Dutch flag and wears wooden shoes!

I asked my giftson Jurrien if he could design

a 3D vesion on the computer, so we could print it.

And a great result in 20 and 28 mm was born.

And before FIGZ 2019 was a fact, I did paint the first one.

The blacklines painting isn't my sort of speciality

but for once I did try it.

Really like the result, okay some guys can do a better job,

but it sure was personal a fun project for me.

Drum Fun

For my monthly post this time a nice metal figure.

With this guy I did enter the dueling field at Bennos Figures Forum.

And of course I did lost (again) but had fun painting this guy.

No historical choice of uniform colors,

so I am aware he isn't historical right painted.

But it was my way to thank mr. "X" 

the unknown dueler for his monthly tribute.

And as the organizer of the dueling section,

I had to be a part of it as well.

 The 28mm metal figure is from North Star figures

Napoleon

This month no Romain, but still a Asterix figure....

This is my version of Bonaparte Napoleon...

Who started as a Romain officer from the Asterix bubble gum range.

Buying the figures on my search to Romain solders, does result on lots of double ones.

So I thought to converse this one to the famous Bonaparte Napoleon. 

First I cut away a lot of the original figure, and started with a trouser.

I used tissue paper and white wood glue for this.

Then drilled 2 holes in his head, and made a frame from a paperclip.

Then with milliput made his hat, yeah at this point he got the Nappie look...

Next step was making his new clothes from more tissue and white wood glue.

Here you see his coat, one of the 3 layers tissue with just a small drup of glue.

Putting it on looks strange, but when it's dry it looks okay!

Then the last part, give him a bit of color...

I am really happy with the end result. 

Just look to the original figure, and the scratch Napoleon!

Do you see the difference between these?

I used these 2 photo's for the colors, and okay he isn't all 100% in the right color

but I guess it will do for this figure...

Dutch Napoleonic Infantery

Look who marching into my blog...

(yeah on the last 2 pictures in may '17 you could see them already)

This moth I show the 6 Dutch infantry Napoleonic figures.

I did paint extra for my good friend Jan his group build for FIGZ.

I only told him I would paint a flag carrier,

but as a small surprise I added these 6 guys in the parcel.

But what a hell it is to paint those Nappies...

I know it sounds stupid, but I really hate painting them...

And that's why it took a bit longer than I had hoped for!

I tried to get the right colors, to avoid to much reactions..

Okey, when there is more then one, it already looks nice...

And I would almost like them, hahaha

But even I hate these figures, I liked to do this as a thank you for Jan,

who did a really great job on the 

Bennos Figures Forum Great Miniature Figures Parade 2017.

When I send the parcel it took so long, 

I was afraid I lost them in the post.

But after two weeks they finally arrived, pffff.

So this was the rest of my entry for this years group build.

This month another figure:

Jean-Baptiste De Coster

As you can see, the special figure of Crisis Antwerp 2015!!!

The exhibition I went to like every year!

Each visitor gets such a great figure.

It is a metal figure, here a picture from the master:

I did some research what colors to use, 

but there is not much info

about this man on the internet.

So I took the colors like the cloths they had in those years.

Not very colorful, I know...

Jean Baptist De Coster,  a farmer and innkeeper.

When Napoleon used his inn "La Belle Alliance"

he was forced to be the personal guide of Napoleon.

Afraid of the shots, he was was strapped to a horse.

Some say the French lost because of his bad french.

But after the war, he became a rich man.

As a guide over the battlefield, he ask a lot of money.

In twelve years it was around 300.000 francs!

Nappies

This month something different:

On Bennosfiguresforum my good friend Jan

asked members to join a groupbuild for 

Bennos Figures Forum Famous Waterloo Project (BFFFWP)

because of the 200th anniversary of the Waterloo battle.

This project will be shown on FIGZ 2015!

And because I organize FIGZ, I took part on it as well.

So I choose the Dutch Belgian Light Dragoons from Hät

2 Horses and 2 Nappies an a uniforminfo was my start

First I had to base them, auch this must hurt...

Then the painting started, and I can tell you, these will be my last 20 mm Nappies

I didn't like it at all to paint them, what a hell of a paintjob.

Still not satisfied, but have to send them to Jan now.

Now I am curious to see the total scene in June.
