December Fun

On the fourth, we went to Once Upon a Child and got some cool toys, some of which we hid to give KJ for Christmas.  Then, we went to a book fair at Barnes and Noble for the high school we work at.  KJ was shy, but he used a little tool, which scraped the black off of a bookmark, leaving different colors.  I got my iphone out to take a picture of Grandpa helping tie the string on the bookmark.

KJ is really into trains, especially Thomas the Tank Engine.  When I found this train set at the used toy store, I didn't realize it was a Thomas set.  When he saw it, he told me his dad has that set.  He's been content to keep it at our house to play with.   They do have lots of tracks and trains at their house.

KJ plays with his trains every time he comes over, but he also likes to play with other things.  I let him play with real things as long as they aren't fragile.

The thing he made that he's holding is from a set that was his dad's when he was a boy.

The tree decorating photos were taken, I'm thinking, Dec. 12.

Here are some photos from Christmas Eve.

This book is what we bought at the book fair, but hid to save for Christmas.  Come to find out, he has one at home, too.

KJ frequently lies down to play.  It's fun to watch him.

Aunt Ashley enjoyed this gift!

I can't remember which gift KJ and Dad were looking at here.

Ashley gave me an ornament, and KJ was helpful to find a spot for it.

By the end of the evening, KJ and Mom were tired, and ready to go home.

On Christmas day, we went to KJ's house for lunch.  My mom, Grandma Mary, had fun playing trains with KJ.  I chose this photo because it shows KJ squatting, like his dad does sometimes.  Also, he's using his tongue to help him like Grandpa Larry does.

He calls my dad Pa Paw.  My dad likes to tease a lot.  They can be funny together.

I should have put the next two photos first on the Christmas day section.  This shirt was taken off before we ate so it would be clean for the next day of company.  Read it!

And, here is the next day.  We had Larry's side of the family at our son's house for Sunday brunch at 11:00, because that was the only time we were all available to get together for the holidays.  Larry's aunt and cousins came, also.  It was a fun time.  We put our money together and donate it to a family that needs us instead of buying gifts for each other.  Larry's youngest brother and his family bought KJ a gift, since he's the youngest.  I didn't get a good photo of them together, but I love the look on KJ's face here.

Here's Aunt Cindy helping get the vehicles out of the package.

KJ and EA have lots of fun when they are together.  He's coughing here, but I didn't get a good photo of them this time.

There are not very many photos of KJ and me, because Larry doesn't take any unless I ask him to, and then, he takes a few and is finished.  I need more takes than that, because I am not photogenic.  KJ was eating fruit from the cool tree made of fruit Great Aunt Rhonda and Great Uncle Jon brought.

Nap time!

What a sweetie!

KJ, we had a fun Christmas with you!  I need to do a post about your January birthday and our visit to the model train show next.
