Favorite characters of all time.

Here's a figure near and dear to my heart... it's an old Inquisitor scale (54mm) miniature, which I used years ago when we played the Inquisitor RPG game.

The character was named Calpurnia, and she was a Master Chastener.  Her job was to explain your guilt to you, and proceed with punishment.  Innocence proves nothing.

The freehand patterns associated her with my Witchhunter army, the Sisters of the Raven.

I have a few blog posts explaining the story behind that army, which was eventually created for the 2014 Adepticon tournament.

Here she is on the alternate backdrop... and she's also on ebay:

Assassins creed

The Death Cult Assassins were always a favorite of mine.  I used them very differently in the old 4th edition version.  Now in 7th, I guess you could toss these into just about any army.

This gal got a few touches of paint after being a tournament veteran for a while.

Every Ship needs a Captain... or a Colonel

Ah, here we go.  The fearless commander of the Angel of Dominance... otherwise known as Colonel Zeke.

This was something that I sculpted in an afternoon to get ready for one of our Inquisitor RPG sessions.

Zeke's first vehicle was a Sentinel.  He was quickly promoted to Squad leader when he was the only one who managed not to crash his Sentinel into the barracks.

Next, Zeke was transferred to the Tiny Dancer, a Chimera transport which was covered in sequins.  His job was to entice anxious Ogryn into the "Shiny box", telling them that it was part of a magic trick.  needless to say, it never ended well.

As luck would have it, Zeke was promoted to platoon leader of a squad of Griffon tanks.  Since there was a shortage in artillery vehicles, his was the only unpainted Griffon, and nobody wanted to be near this bright red primered target!  However, when the front line was breached by a mass of angry Orks, the rest of the Griffons were promptly destroyed by the oncoming horde.

When the orks caught sight of his red Griffon, they seemed to shout something along the lines of "Go Fastah!!!!" and continued on their rampage, wiping out the rest of the Imperial units in the battle.

As the sole survivor of this battle, Zeke was promoted once again to command the Angel of Dominance.

Aside from blowing away enemies of the Imperium with the Angel's significant firepower, The Colonel is interested in three things.  Drinkin', Racin', and Shootin' (not necessarily in that order), as can be seen by his tattoos.

He believes in the right to Bare Arms, although he is frequently cited for being "out of uniform".  The Colonel is not fond of Space marines, who he refers to as overgrown test tube babies.  He says they are undersexed and overdressed.

Dominating the conversation

Well, when I posted the first images of this the other day, I did not expect to create such a gigantic firestorm of angst and rage.  No matter how many times I tried to explain that this was just a fun piece made for an Inquisitor RPG, that was ignored and the flames grew higher.

The whole idea behind this was for it to be outlandish, powered as it was by Xenos tech from a corrupt Inquisitor.  It was that technology that made this 'fly'.  The engines that you see are mere directional thrusters.

Here's a close up of the unit insignia, which was a lot of fun!  I love creating new logos :-)

I will still try to finish this off, especially now with all the Secret Weapon products that I now have!

Aside from the wings, the majority of the work went to creating the crew cabin.  That had to be enlarged to that it could also work as a transport for the retinue.

Any named vehicle needs nose art, so here we go!

She's such an Angel (WIP images)

Some of you might remember from a while back that I posted a bunch of images of a very unusual item.  It was a pretty insane kit bashing of a vehicle for our Inquisitor Role Playing group.

John and Larry donated lots of resin and plastic pieces for this insanity.

This is how the vehicle looked when we played our last game with it... I never got to finish the painting.  Just get it looking adequate enough to play with :-)

This is the vehicle our retinue traveled in, and also fought.  It could fly and hover, courtesy of some Xenos tech hidden within the hull.

Inside the hull were some other 'modifications', such as the distillery and the wine cellar.  Shells and missiles were just as likely to be filled with such fine aperitifs as they were with high explosives.

In fact, some frequently counted as both, depending on what ingredients were available.

The open area aft of the main gun was used as a driving rage by Colonel 'Zeke', as he was called.  More on his story in a later post.

Lots of engines, and an expanded living quarters!

Of course, no Inquisition vehicle worth its salt is without a massive, mutant-exterminating titan missile launcher!!!

I have more close ups of this coming soon!  This particular vehicle is now part of the I.G. wing of the new army alliance I am building with the Sisters of the Raven.  The icon also appears on the new Secret Weapon vehicles I have painted.

Hey, look, the Render Monster is rendering... again.  Soon it will have a buddy.

A crazy Baneblade conversion for Inquisitor RPG

Photobucket

A few years ago, we used to play in a very fun Inquisitor RPG group.  Our characters rode around in this vehicle, an ancient flying Baneblade/transport called the Angel of Dominance.  The idea was that this vehicle was one of the first Baneblades, and had been altered by some Xenos tech by certain Radical Inquisitors.

All of the pieces were kindly donated by Larry and John, the GM.  I then sat down with a razor saw and started hacking up pieces of Forgeworld vehicles and plasticard.

Photobucket

You can see how the extra section was added onto the rear to provide transport space, and a platform for the giant missile launcher. :-)

The wings were the trickiest part.  You can's see the underside in these views, but there are glowing levitation engines (adapted from "donated" Eldar Tech) which help get the vehicle airborne.  There are maneuvering thrusters all over the vehicle.

I had to use some thick baked sculpey to provide some extra length to the wings, so that the engines could have enough space and not touch the sponsons.

Photobucket

Obviously, a bunch of Valkyrie parts were used.  The plasticard and some polystyrene tubing helped create the necessary plate texture to cover all that up.

Photobucket

I even used a dozer blade to create the large radar antenna.  There are some chaos noise howlers on the vehicle, which we would use to play that Flight of the Valkyries song when we went into combat :-)

Other tank bits were very handy, such as cutting guns in half to create added mechanical parts on wings, etc.

Photobucket

There are other added pieces to the underside, such as winches, etc. that are used in flight mode.

Photobucket

I have done a bit of painting on this, so I will show you those pictures later.  These should give you a fairly good idea of how this craft was made, though. :-)

Inquisitor Scale Ogryn

This pewter beast was an inquisitor scale project in 2011.  It seemed to be a combination of a blood bowl ogre and the Ghazgul (name?) orc warboss.
