Cranberries!

Well, it's that time... for cranberry sauce!!!  Sugar, raspberries, a pinch of curry powder.. and cranberries!  Poof.  Something you can put on just about anything.  Yum.

More yum from the new Outlaw heavy support, this time working on some glowing stuff and verdigris.

Also, working on the gun crewman before her gets attached...

The verdigris on the copper surfaces.  I wanted this to provide a slightly different color to the overall palette of the vehicle.

Uppy can barely contain his excitement as the cranberries pop!  Be careful, Uppy!

Some initial weathering effects were begun at this point as well.

As you saw in the concept art, some seriously heavy weathering is happening all over the Flame Truck. It fits the nature of the Outlaw's pattern of 'borrowing' things.

This would be many hours across innumerable surfaces on the truck.

One tiny portion mostly complete.  Once all these effects are done, and the vehicle is assembled, I will break out the powders to do some final touches.

I did manage to discover a new method for weathering!  It utilizes one of the Secret Weapon washes in a way I have never thought of before.

It was all very accidental.  I just thought I would give it a try, and it really worked out well!  I love experiments... especially when they work!

This is definitely something that I will work into the overall technique.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

How do you cook your Turkey?

Hey folks!  It's almost that time again.  Traveling through the wind and snow to get to someone's house for Thanksgiving!!

This is what it was like in our neighborhood a few days ago.

It's about to get much warmer, however, as the Black Friday sale at Wild West Exodus approaches!!!

This little dandy you see here is the new Outlaw Flame Truck, a new heavy support choice for the Wild West Exodus troublemakers!

I thought I would show you a few WIP images, starting with the usual shaded basecoat.  As always, the object here is to 'block in' not only colors, but where the lights and darks will go.

It's far easier to paint all the component element separately, and then do the final assembly later!  It also means that I don't have to handle certain edges as much, removing paint along the way!

By setting up all these basic shadings, I can then pick and choose what I want to make even darker, or tint to a different shade.  When you are dealing with as many shades of gray as this, it can get a bit monotonous, so you really want a way to work in that variety.

That can mean making one area more greenish or reddish, and so on.

The primary gun mount.  The colors were changed on this a few times, which is the kind of flexibility the Shaded Basecoat approach provides.

The crew of the gun mount also had a lot of earth tones on him.  That's good, as it will make him stand out from the cooler greenish blue grays...

The wheels are a major part of this vehicle.  These are shaded with the darkest parts towards the top, and lighter closer to the ground.  It's all about the reflected light!

These will look quite different when all the weathering is added.

Speaking of food... this cranberry/orange dressing was very nice on this salad!!  There had to be some kind of recipe included. :-)

Here's a shot with many of the pieces getting their darker glazes and shading.  There's a bit of preliminary weathering on the prows...

More definition is added to the wheels... in the hubs as well as the treads.

One last shot of the wheels!!!

For those living in cold climates:

Wage says, "Don't forget change your furnace filters once a month!"

More from the brand new Outlaw Flame Truck soon, so stay tuned!

Cold winter, hot stove...

It's a fine day in Wappelville.  The sun is shining, it's 13 degrees and snowing, and planes are crashing into houses down the street!  What more could you possibly ask for?

When it gets cold outside, Chef Babo gets things going in the kitchen!

Wage has a new helper.  He washed a million resin parts a few weeks ago (this is only half of them).  More just arrived yesterday, so he's going to be very busy!

Babo decided to make some Parmesan Cheese biscuits.  They smelled so good while they were baking...

Voila!  Golden crusty cheesy goodness!!!

Uh oh, things are getting hot at the Wappelville Jailhouse as well!

I guess a few campfires got out of control.

Smokey says, "Only you can prevent Forest Fires".

Hmm... maybe it's bacon.  Who wants to hang those dirty Outlaws on an empty stomach?

This, by the way, is the small gallows from Burn in Designs.

Those Grey Knight bases got a few rounds of paint, as you can see.

Not quite finished, but moving along!!

Something in the oven...

There's a ton of stuff baking in the oven right now, folks!  I can't even list all the various projects, experiments, and so much more.  Some are even secret.... :-)

No secrets in the kitchen for Chef Babo!

Here he is making some Cranberry Pecan muffins.

Very basic ingredients, as you can see.

All mixed together.  You can just feel the fiber!!!

Ready for baking, sprinkled with some melted butter.

Done!  Each one of these bad boys contains nearly 50% of your daily fiber requirement.  Yes indeed, a tasty way to keep any miniature painter regular.

Another job well done by Chef Babo.

Next up for him, some cheddar biscuits.  Those will be very welcome as the overnight lows drop into the teens later this week!!

Here's a few images of Reaper Bones minis.  This crew has already been joined by the Mysterious Stranger.  There are many more sitting on the table, as they are parts of other experiments.

I still marvel at what you can do with the BONES minis.  Those fire elementals will be part of another set of step by step images.

You will be seeing more of the Zombicide crew when I post the images of the Secret weapon construction cones and jersey barriers.

What's Cookin' ?

You saw the images of the first Beast... well this is the Beast's buddy.

I snapped these images prior to dark glazes on the gray metals, and a few other steps that are now completed.

Since then, I have done the lighter colors for the reds, and put on the weathering in the form of paint chips and rust.

The leg assemblies are a bewildering array of parts!

It's really tough to get the brush in these tight spaces, to say the least.  Remember, these legs are taller than an entire Dreadnought!  You really have to think about where you are putting your lights and shadows.

Of course, these all look very different, with additional shading added as well as the rust.

With the additional armor spaces on these monsters, there was some room for freehand.  I tried to do something slightly different than the previous entities, with the diagonal black stripes.

As I was working on this, I tried something all new for me.  I love to cook, but I have been almost exclusively an 'open flame' person... not a baker.  I have never tried to make a loaf of bread before.

Jen was kind enough to provide the bread mix, making my life a lot easier.

I used creme soda for the 'water' in the mix, and then melted some butter to put over the top!

Actually, it was Cookie Chef Babo who did all the work.  Next time he will leave it in the oven for 50 minutes instead of 55. :-)
