Captain Nimue

Legendary Captain Nimue is the first new figure that I have been able to add to my Wild West Exodus forces for well over a year!  It was quite a complex way to restart that task.

It is quite obvious how complex she is with the various parts and angles... but the water effects definitely raised that level even more.

Not only were several layers of water effects added, but many of those were tinted various hues of seafoam green, blues, and so on.  The hope was to create a translucent appearance, giving it the raging greenish waves while also making the tentacle seem as if it was still wet from rising out of the water.

These images show those lighter greens at work, with subsequent layers of clear water effects over the top to make that have more depth.

You can see the water drops hanging from the tentacle, which also took many layers to create.  They must be made in the same way a regular water drop forms... one little blob added onto the previous blob, so that it looks like a drop and not an icicle!

Here she is with her stat card.  I really look forward to using her as the boss for my Mercenary force!!

The Dog Pound

Send in the robots!!

These shots feature the more mechanical side of the Lawmen.  We have some UR Lawbots, along with a host of hounds!!

This is a combination of regular Mercenary K-9's along with the new, very powerful versions.

I think this group would be very deadly in a fight.  There are a ton of action points here, with everything essentially have three each.

When you couple that with the speed of the K-9's, this small number of figures acts as if it were almost half again as numerous.

The range of the firepower is also enhanced by the mobility of the large dogs, and Legendary Wyatt's powerful gun.

Even the smallest of K-9's is lethal in combat.  They are also blurred targets, so a great number of shots will go astray.

The K-9's have been the most consistent performers in close combat.  While the fighting skill level is not high, there are many attacks and strikes to compensate.

This is also a very heavily armed posse!  I believe that with forward eschelon, the large K-9's have armor 6!

Things are gonna get hot in Wappelville... it's going to the dogs!

We anticipate that legendary figures like Wyatt will only come around for special story based scenarios... most likely facing each other.

Let the Showdown begin!!!

Guard dog

These new Mercenary K-9's from Wild West Exodus are among the meanest sidekicks around for their point cost.

This gatling gun version cranks out a large volume of shots, especially with that extra action point.

However, these have proven to be almost more valuable as close combat beasts, tying down critical enemies who have yet to activate.

How would you like to try and take a shot with one of these ripping your arm off?

Kennel club

There's a new dog in the pound, and that's the H311-K9 mercenary from Wild West Exodus.

There are two 'breeds' of these deadly K9's, and either one can ruin your day.

Not only do they have major firepower, but their speed and multiple action points mean that their threat range is huge!  They can truly reach out and touch someone!!!

The magic carpet ride

Another member of the Wayward Eight joins the club!  This is Sierra Icarus.

I did some different things with the color scheme from the previous couple of figures.  I also carried some of the decorative patterns out from the corners of the skirts to cover the whole surface.

I also could not resist printing out a few rug designs and seeing which ones might work.  There were a lot of great designs, but in the end, I went with the most subdued pattern.  It also matched many of the colors on the figure itself.

Green will be a recurring thing throughout my Wayward Eight, with brown as the complimentary color.  It has a bit to do with the "Green Coats" storyline that I am working on. :-)

Converting your BONES

Having faced The Wraith in a few games of WWX with Rich, I was very curious to give him a try myself.  After reading the A Contract to Die For WWX novel, in which he has a prominent role, I thought it would be very fun.

At first we thought we'd just share Rich's Wraith figure, but then I realized that it might get confusing.

In the heat of the fight, we might each mistake it for our own, or in my case, shooting at it because I believe he's working for Rich's posse!

I had a Reaper BONES figure that looked quite similar to the Wraith figure, but distinct enough that it could not be mistaken for the original.  I did some conversion on him, adding a shotgun arm from Victoria Miniatures, as well as other pouches and grenades.  The armor pieces were sculpted on with green stuff.

I have some WIP shots somewhere, but I may save those for another post where I compare him to the original figure that I was trying to emulate.

Again, the idea here was to get something that looked unique enough from the actual WWX figure.  While I'd love a Wraith mini of my own to paint, I could all too easily see myself getting mixed up.

This will happen more as I begin to experiment with other factions besides the Lawmen.  They are going to play quite differently, which is what I look forward to the most!

What do you mean you've run out of doggie treats?

Bow wow!  Today we have a CCLE-K9 from Wild West Exodus.

This is a Mercenary sidekick who can work with a variety of factions.  He's very fast, and he has some nasty choppers!  With 3 action points, things get very interesting when these hounds are on the loose.  Typically a two action point character ends up strolling into close combat, but has to wait until the next turn to start swinging for real.

These metal minions are certainly fast enough to arrive on the scene with one action point to spare... hitting you with his fangs or his claws.  Did I mention that you can set these rovers to explode?

Sure thing.  If you think they are about to be KO'd, run them into a crowd, and set them off.  TNT with feet!  And fangs.

A little help for the Nation.

I finally have me own version of the Flowing River Mercenary from Wild West Exodus.

Her glowing blue weapons are a true indicator that she will be teaming up with Geronio and friends of the Warrior Nation.

It seemed very appropriate from a story standpoint, and she also fits with the direction I wanted that posse to go.

So, the Nation continues to grow!!  Stay tuned for more. :-)

Wielding Old Betsy...

Joining my own realm of Wild West Exodus minis is Thomas Tate Tobin.  While he can take down anyone with Old Betsy, the three influence he provides is probably going to be very helpful for the Lawmen.

Clearly he has some kind of connection to the Golden Army... it's quite a mystery!

What's clear is that his growing pile of trophy heads means that Wappelville is going to get even bloodier!!

Taking the dogs for a walk

Here we go!  Time to take the dogs for a walk in the park!

Before I started painting this set, I thought it would be very fun, and I was right.  This is also a very deadly combination of shooting and sic 'em!

Speaking of fun things to paint, this guy... YES!  I definitely want to paint this Golden Army character.

Back to the sisters and their little dogs...

The ladies can blast you from a distance, but they can also send their pets after you.  We have seen first hand how badly that can end for those on the business end of a cc-K9.

Woof woof!

Some fun stretch goals have been reached in the kickstarter thus far.  We have been furiously creating scenarios for future games, especially with the Golden Army vs Watchers.

I think more dogs will have to join these when I get to Adepticon. :-)

A family portrait!
