Batman: Security Guards and Navy SEALS

Well into the home straight now.

Generic security guards or prison warders. Just a basecoat and wash. I'll hit all the figures with Dullcote at the end.
Guards

These half-orc-ish SEALS were infiltrated into Gotham when it was taken by the Riddler in the Zero Year storyline. They were sent to accede to his demands, which left Jim Gordon and Batman underwhelmed. I'm not really a fan of the pose.

Bruce Wayne and Alfred

Bruce Wayne? Who's that? Sounds like a cool guy!
LEGO Batman

Bruce Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth

I love this picture of Batman and Alfred by acclaimed bat-artist Darwyn Cooke:
Detective Comics (2015)

Alfred Pennyworth is always a scene-stealing character; an accomplice and enabler from the Jeeves school. In Batman Eternal (2014) it was revealed he has a daughter, Julia, who is (obviously) a member of UK Special Forces...

I have a lot of bat-content to plough through, so there will be more mid-week blog posts to come. I need to get a bat-tally going, but don't actually know how many figures I've got! I think it is about 200...

Russian counter-terror troops

Spurred by the imminent arrival of their Chechens, here are more of Eureka's modern Russian Federals, painted as an internal security unit. (Check out my earlier modern Russians here.)

There's no historical support for these paint-schemes and they're not based on any particular unit or time, but they look 'kewl'. The helmet is the Maska-1Sch. I gave the weapons wooden stocks so they would stand out a little more.

Here's a photo-dump of pics I used as inspiration and reference (Google Images is my friend):

Who knows what battle-hardened visages are hidden under that fearsome armour plating?

Edit: Here's a pic of the boys in action:

We're a rescue team, not assassins

Another change of pace…
We move, five metre spread, no sound.

Dillon, you son of a bitch!

Old Painless is waiting...

Anytime...

What the hell are you?

The more I see Predator, the more I love it. The Scene’sUS SF were another impulse purchase, perfectly matched by Khurasan’s VacationAlien.

I did enjoy Predators; I thought it paid suitable homage to the original without being cheesy like the AvP films were. I’d like to see a figure range to complement Predators.

As a treat, here’s a very catchy musical:

15mm Scud Hunters/ Bravo Two Zero

I'm back! These are from CP Models, sculpted by Whiff Whaff.
'Last man back doesn't get a publishing deal'
The set consists of eight separate sculpts depicting the famous 'Bravo Two Zero' patrol of the 1991 Gulf War. They are armed as the actual SAS patrol was, with four M16/ M203s and four Minimis. One of the figures has a LAW, one is throwing a grenade, and one is bareheaded with a filthy Special Forces porno 'stache. The real selling point for me is the massive bergen each trooper is carrying.

I painted the figures based on the tailgate photo of B20, showing DPM trousers and a pale tan smock.
Other SAS, showing smock
This was my first attempt at DPM, and I'm not entirely happy with it. The boots don't look quite right either. I am, however, very happy with the way the weapons turned out. The figures have a pleasing bulk to them, and a creative painter could use them for arctic scenarios.

If you haven't read 'Bravo Two Zero', do yourself a favour and pick it up. It may play somewhat loose with the truth, but 'Andy McNab' is a great storyteller. The book's success heralded a tsunami of SAS books.

There is also a 1998 telemovie starring Sean Bean, which was actually better than I had anticipated.
