A Baby's Best Friend

Maggie's new favorite thing is to play with the puggies. She loves pulling on their tails, they love licking cereal leftovers off of her, and mom loves the entertainment. Everyone wins.

Yugo

Remember the Yugo? If you can’t here is a quick Yugo History lesson. The Yugo took America by storm in 1985 under the banner "Worlds Cheapest Car." At that time you could buy a brand new Yugo with all the trimmings for $3,995. Yugomania ensued and the car enjoyed a glorious run until its owners discovered that cheap does not equal good. The Yugo became a joke and in no time disappeared into the ether of craptastic cars.

So where did the Yugo go?

I thought I would never see the Yugo again until I flagged down a Taxi here for the first time. There it was, the pitiable wonder car of my youth, waiting anxiously for me to squeeze inside. Except it was not quite a Yugo. It was a poor man’s poor man’s Yugo. It’s like the Yugo married a cardboard box and they had a baby, except while the cardboard box was pregnant she experimented with drugs and took retarded car vitamins.
I go through this mental checklist each time I get in to make sure I’m in a taxi :

Rope for seat belts: check
Stick shift located between the passenger’s legs : check
Widows that do not roll up: check
Runs on apple sauce and fear: check and check

I traded a pair of levis for one and am shipping it home next month.

Utah

We went out to Utah for a couple weeks. This will be our last trip until Maggie is old enough to be given a tranquilizer for the plane. We stayed at Stana Wood's house the whole time, and let me just say that she is the best host ever. For those of you who don't know her, she cooks three meals a day, makes hot fudge sundaes for in between meals, she does our laundry EVERY SINGLE DAY, and will even draw you a bath if you fancy one. Thank you Stana!

Here's the noodle in her baby blessing dress. Which she promptly tried to ruin by having an explosion that covered all three layers of the dress. Good thing the dress is a Wood family heirloom.

Besides going to about 20 different family parties from both of our sides, and visiting every person we've ever even talked to in Utah, and spending about five minutes of time alone, we went snowboarding. If you're wondering who I'm standing next to, it's my husband. Bin Laden called and says he wants his beard back.

Our first family photo.
