Sketch N Scrap - 7th Birthday Bash

We're having a month long birthday celebration with bingo to celebrate 7 years for Sketch N Scrap.

Along with our regular monthly sketches, we will have a new sketch for National Scrapbook Day (on the 4th) AND we will be playing Birthday Bash Bingo all month long in a closed group on Facebook! You do not want to miss it! Be sure to "Like" our Sketch N Scrap Facebook page so you will be up to date on what's going on!

The fun starts May 1st and we will open up the "bingo hall" on April 30th so you can get acquainted with friends old and new and be ready for the first challenge which will launch May 1st.  Don't worry if you are late to the party, we will be adding people all month long and you will have until the end of May to play along and get a "bingo" or better yet a "black out"!!

Every challenge will need to be based on a sketch from Sketch N Scrap. You can find these on the blog or on pinterest. All your entries will need to be posted in the correct challenge album to count towards bingo and/or blackout.

Scrapbook n Things - Challenge 5 (second time around)

After my previous attempt at making a layout for entry into the challenge and only after realising that it was toooooo much of a scraplift, I tried again. I luckily still had lots of stuff from the challenge pack left so could make a good page.

I added in the brown and red cardstocks and the little blue letter stickers. The rest is all from the kit. For my feathers I used a few distress oxide inks to add various colours to pick up all the paper colours. Love how variegated they are.

To finish off my page I added some stamped stitching around three edges in yellow. It didn't show up quite as well as I had hoped so then I added some gold perfect pearls powder to it too... sort of went slightly overboard and so now there are gold flecks over most of my page (and my desk!).

Off The Rails - April Moodboard - Boys

Wow April sure has rushed past us again. I managed to get a bit of scrapping done all month long (inbetween all my quilling too!).

Here's my super boy inspired layout for Off The Rails this month... all about the accidental side of having a boy!

This layout is based on a Jowilna original page and is used with LadyPatternPaper ranges. I stuck with the blues and browns to pick out the colours in the photos.

I made the card and envelope for a friend's daughter's nursery school teacher. The class is evidently called the Owlets. Elizabeth also loves owls so asked for a few more... hence the whole host of them. Did you know that a group of owls is called a parliament?

IQCG - ATC Cards

This month our theme is Artist Trading Cards or commonly know as ATCs. Well I've never made these so this is a first for me. Actually they were quite easy... just very small... 3x2 inches. I decided to stick to a theme across my 3 cards... buzzing bees.

Everyday's An Adventure

I made this layout over the weekend using the challenge 5/19 kit from Scrapbook n Things.

This layout is based on a Jowilna original so I can't actually enter it into the competition but I must say that I really really like how it all came together. I managed to used something of everything in the kit.

Thankfully I still have goodies leftover so I am going to make another layout this weekend and see if I can enter then.... hehehe....silly me!

These were such fun to make. I have lots more coming over the next few weeks. I quilled lots of little goodies last weekend and now just to assemble the cards so that I can share.

Let's Scrap Sketches - 15 Apr

It's nearing Easter and I am thinking a lot this week about this special season. I've been doing a lot more Bible reading and trying to focus on God without being distracted by all the "Easter bunny" and eggs side of things. We watched a video at Ladies Fellowship on Saturday by J. John about "What happened at God's funeral"...this sure made me think. Especially the bit about why we wear the cross. Go check it out. It's very thought provoking.

Now on to some scrapping... look it's a bunny (hehehe).

I used the right side of this week's sketch for my layout and stuck to a very neutral theme of green and brown. I used papers from Lady Pattern Paper that I've been holding on to for a while. I even got to use my new bunny stamp I bought last month just as an added extra.

Sketch N Scrap - April Spring Fling crop

It's time for Challenge 3 of our Spring Fling Crop and here is my layout for inspiration:

I used this sketch:

And now for the added twist - see that big circle... well replace it with a non-geometric shape. Simple. I used a huge big balloon on my layout which was from a Paige Evans cutfile.

Edited to add: This was my second time up in a hot air balloon. Given half a chance I would do this over and over again. And I guess that is saying a lot as I don't do heights easily. I don't do ladders! Barely even do two steps up.If I can't see my feet or how far the ground is I get the wobbles. But this I could do no problem.

There was no sensation of leaving the ground and we just floated along... it's like looking out the window of a plane....if you don't look directly down you're hardly aware that you're up there. Just enjoying the view!

For me the most terrifying bit of both flights was getting out the basket once we had landed. The basket is higher than your waist when you're in it. So you have to manoeuvre yourself up onto the edge of the balloon, flip you feet over and then climb down through the rungs in the basket. Not being able to see my feet gave me the big jitters. And the first time we landed directly onto the basket trailer too so were even higher off the ground.... not my fav. But once down and walking around it was awesome to relive!

We actually all received a "citation of bravery" on completion of the flight... and I now have two! The first trip I did with my Mom and all the time we were there we kept saying "Aaron would enjoy this". So this was his turn. Mom was supposed to come too the second time but broke her hip about six weeks before this trip and had to cancel.

So anyone game to do this with me next time?

Stick It Down - April2019 Double

Mom and I had the most relaxed weekend at Wyndford Holiday Farm this past weekend, which is why I am slightly late in posting this layout. We had rain all the way down there on Friday, but the rest of the weekend was dry and mostly sunny. The predicted snowfall on the Berg also didn't arrive so thankfully we didn't freeze. I now have lots more memories to scrap of this beautiful part of our country.

So here is my layout for this month's double at Stick It Down:

No patterned paper was used on this page... it's all ink and stitching. I really really love how it turned out. I started with two white pieces of cardstock and applied distress oxide in to the paper in a rainbow pattern with the central circle on the left page. I then divided the segments and did some texture stamping into alternating segments. I also added some brown ink through a sunray stensil on a few segments.Once I was happy with the inking, I stick my photos down, added the title and journalling and then all the stitching in rainbow colours too. Lastly I added some bling.

Sketch N Scrap - April 5th card sketch

I am sharing this card on our facebook group today... I made it for a work colleague's baby shower in March. Her little girl is coming in a week's time. (Editted to say she is arriving tomorrow!)

I turned to my trusty LadyPatternPaper pink papers for this card. Used one of the stickers for the sentiment too and then quilled the tiny feet for inside the diecut heart. This is the sketch that I worked from:

Let's Get Sketchy - April 2019

It's a new month... April already! As our minister at church yesterday said, the first quarter of the year is gone.... yikes! Oh well guess that means we are all that much closer to Christmas... hehehe.

We had a wonderful relaxed holiday last week at the beach... last time we were there was 2015! I'm not a beachy person, but love watching the waves. Our apartment was right at the top of the building so we had a perfect non-restricted view of the sea. Guess I need to get scrapping some of those pics now too.

Speaking of scrapping, here is my layout for today's reveal at Let's Get Sketchy:

I flipped the sketch and used a circle with a coffee cup die from the Silhouette Store to allow my photo to sit inside the circle. The title chipboard is from Celebr8. The backgroud paper actually has coffee beans all over it and is from Fabscraps. I added the coffee stains with a stamp from Bo Bunny... by far my favourite stamp (mmm I wonder why! hehe).

PS - I am taking part in  #the100dayproject again this year... I did this in 2016. Actually this photo is about one of the days during my 100days from that year which was all about #coffeewithcathy. This year I am doing #100DaysofCraftsWithCathy and will be sharing all sorts of crafty things on my instagram account (link in sidebar --->) Though the official project doesn't start till tomorrow, I am making today my first day.
