Jonty was his usual wonderful self: a bit insecure, a whole lot brave, sassy, witty, caring, giving and smart. The book offered everything I've come to expect from a story with Jonty. Laughter, banter, shenanigans, friendship, family interactions, drama and the whole gamut of emotions.
Jonty and Devon together were as precious as ever, loving and funny and romantic. They could have made the story wonderful all by themselves, but Barbara Elsborg also included all of the characters I've met through the other installments of this series. That way, Jonty's Halloween became a family reunion, an utterly entertaining treat that kept a smile on my face with every page I turned. ...more

There was very little romance in the general sense, just subtle hints of a budding relationship between Matt and Lachlan, which only made the story more titillating.
Matt and Lachlan were positively delightful and the cast of secondary characters was amazing. The author has managed to create a large ensemble of people with individual personalities, while never taking the spotlight from the protagonists.
The pacing of the mystery plot was great, steadily increasing the number of surprises and twist. I never knew what would happen next and I loved it. Five Dead Herrings is a fantastic start to this series and I can't wait for more....more

Addicted to Lust was a lovely story, with a truly sweet and romantic ending. Admittedly, I didn't particularly like Hayato in the beginning because of the douchey way he treated Masuo. But he grew on me the more I got to know him, after learning the reasons for his behavior and seeing how the tried everything to better himself. Both Hayato and Masuo grew a lot throughout the book and I liked the changes in them.
Although set in the Yakuza Path world, this book was, more than a mafia story, a romance between two men who worked hard to improve themselves and to offer the other their best and all the happiness and love possible. Recommended. ...more

Kit and Andrew started off as not quite enemies yet not friendly, even as they lived in the same house and with their work relationship. Immensely attracted to each other, but they lacked in the communication department. They seemed to speak different languages at times, understanding the complete opposite of what the other said and they've been so much fun to watch. Both prideful and stubborn, reluctant to be the first to let his guard down, which resulted in a push and pull that entertained me to no end. Attraction before friendship and a combustible chemistry, leading to feelings so tender that made me swoon.
I really enjoyed the story and the author's writing. I found amazing dialogues and well researched language and historical details. Recommended....more

I'm still pondering whether or not I'll try anything else by this author. ...more

Insta-lust between Calix and Holden eight years ago when they first met, with emotions building over the years, although Calix did his best not to admit it. Instant protectiveness and desire when Calix set his eyes on Neven and when Holden met the younger man, too. And an instant click between the three when they all agreed to be together.
The book wasn't very long and things moved rather quickly between the three men, but I believed it. They had intensity, passion, chemistry and they definitely cared about each other...no doubt they belonged together.
Dissent was sweet and hot and everything in between, and with a bit of danger to spice things up. Loved it! ...more

One phone call to Jackson's agency sent Cassel directly in the middle of a shooting, with bullets that were clearly meant to kill Jeremy. After that Jeremy and Cassel set off on a run for their lives and search for clues about who was behind the shooting.
I think it was the most action filled installment of the series so far. Incredibly fast paced, with twist and turns that left me breathless and afraid for our protagonists' lives. And, as Jeremy and Cassel survived one perilous situation after another, they connected more and reveal details about their histories. What took me by surprise was the secrets Jeremy kept and how his past was connected with Cassel's. But now their pasts clashed with their present and put in danger them and all their friends.
I never knew what could happen next in the book. Friends who maybe weren't so, enemies that helped, everyone seemed to have their own schemes, in a crescendo of risky circumstances that lead to an unexpected finale. But there was always hilarity, this is an Alice Winters book after all, ludicrous situations that made me laugh out loud, and the sweet romance between Jeremy and Cassel...a fun adventure from page one to the last. I loved it!

Felix had arrived at Daydream convinced there was a ghost that needed his help. Instead, he found West, a not so typical ghost, he discovered a magical town and he met broody and standoffish Nicholas. Felix and Nicholas were amazingly written. Felix's joy of living reached me from the pages as did his delight for every small thing. It was actually his happy go lucky attitude that grated on Nicholas's nerves, also because he couldn't fight the strong pull toward Felix, who he'd initially considered superficial. I couldn't get enough of these two men together. They were complete opposits, the itinerant ghost-talker and the firmly rooted librarian, with Felix that just breezed through life and Nicholas who needed the comfort of routines and plans...opposites yet undoubtedly perfect for each other.
As Felix tried to win Nicholas over, he also got himself involved in the mystery of who wanted to hurt Daydream. That meant working together with some people from town that soon became his friends, and with the resident ghosts, in an intriguing hunt for clues that eventually led to the discovery and confrontation of the villain.
I had so much fun reading this book. The romance between Felix and Nicholas was entertaining and sweet, and the mystery kept me engaged. The best part, though, was seeing all the charming characters from the previous books and the new ones introduced, watching them interact throughout the story. With magic or not, I love them all and I can't wait to meet them again in future books of this series.

All througFrom the moment they first snapped at each other in The List, I've been excited for Spencer and Wolf's story, and it was so worth the wait. All through the first two installments of the series they seemed to loath each other, every time they shared the same space filled with either silence of hurtful jabs from both sides. They were intense and full of fire, and I couldn't wait to read about their thoughts and feelings.
The story revealed that both Wolf and Spencer had troubled pasts, secrets and fears that conditioned their actions and emotional openness, and each showed to the world a persona that wasn't their true self. For years, the acted like something close to enemies, lashing out at each other instead of simply talking. Admittedly, at the beginning at the book they somewhat irritated me, until I found out about the hurt they hid and about the reasons why they never took that decisive step toward one another. I watched them through the years, fighting the pull toward one another, pinning and full of longing, until they both finally grew enough and the moment arrived that they allowed themselves to risk opening up and ask for what and who they've always wanted.
They deserved all the happiness in the world, as did their friends. All flawed men, but good-hearted and loyal, the kind of friends anyone would want in their corner. As the series progressed, I loved reading the trials the author put them through and seeing how their friendship never wavered. It's been a wonderful emotional journey from the first book to the last and having known them all brought me so much joy. ...more

This time we had Sloan and Loch deep in another threat to the world, again because of a power hungry god. They investigated the disappearance of what seemed like hundreds of people all over the world and they found themselves the first in the line of danger. But, when they obviously couldn't handle things by themselves or with the help of their friends, they asked for assistance from Loch's/Azaethoth godly family ...and the book became immensely entertaining.
I laughed so much throughout Head Over Tentacles that my stomach ached and my face hurt. Loch stole the show many times just by being his outrageously filterless self and with his exaggerations, and Sloane was adorable trying to rein in his fiance. Also, their friends and family had a huge part in the funniness of the book with their ludicrous banter and interactions.
I loved the story for its overall hilarious sense and for how incredibly sweet and hot Sloan and Loch were together, but the mystery was greatly paced and intriguing as well, and kept me glued to the pages.

There was something so raw and authentic between Drew and Peter. Their relationship started slow, which made total sense considering their circumstances. I loved how the trust built up, how honest, strong feelings developed between them and how far they would have gone for each other.

It was tragic reading about Harrison's struggling each day, physically, mentally and emotionally, and hopeful seeing him heal more and more each day. Toby was a huge factor in Harrison's journey to getting better. The way their relationship developed was immensely affecting. A slow, day by day process of Toby caring touch and being present, and Harrison doing everything possible to cling to his memories. They were absolutely stunning together as they steadily grew closer and closer emotionally, despite the objective obstacles in their way.
I honestly read this with a smile on my face and tears in my eyes. Admittedly, the only easy part to read was the beginning, in the 1571's France, when the author introduced Francois and his lover, Estienne. Their love was so tender and sweet that they immediately captured my heart...until Estienne's mother cursed Francois for eternity. After that, I've read the book with a bit of apprehension, underlying even the sweetest moments later on between Francois/Frankie and Daniel, the countdown for the curse like impending doom while I was hoping for a happy ending and afraid I wouldn't get it.
There was something truly magical about the way HL Day wrote the characters, with such insight of their souls that I forgot about their physical, external aspects and cared only about their hearts and their happiness. Francois was amazingly vibrant even in his stoney form, innocent despite all his experiences, and Daniel was so gentle and caring...their connection so deep, strong and touching that I wanted to protect them against all harm and dangers.
I didn't know where the story would take me. It was an emotional, devastating and hopeful reading experience, with surprises and revelations that took my breath away.
I LOVED IT and I can't recommend it enough....more

Wells is taking me on a charming tour of Maine, each book being set in a different location and always so vividly described that I feel like being there myself.
This third book is taking place in Cape Porpoise, the small town that Marcus has purposely chosen to isolate himself and, at least at the beginning, where Seb was convinced he'd hate every minute of his stay. But, a few days after his arrival at Cape Porpoise, Seb met Marcus, and his summer suddenly became exciting and full of possibilities.
Instant attraction at its best yet put on the back burner initially, because Marcus felt all his hard fought inner equilibrium put at risk by Seb. Marcus had secrets that were eating him up inside and made him isolate himself from family and friends, and convinced him he should push Seb away. They chose to be friends over lovers at first, until, of course, they couldn't keep their hands off each other anymore.
I think this book could have been angstier, what with Marcus's secrets and Seb's saddening family situation...but it wasn't. The author interspersed the heavier parts with banter between the protagonists, hilarious relatives and entertaining moments with family and friends...and incredibly hot sex scenes.
I was curious to see what Marcus hid that he felt not even his family could understand. The revelation (no spoilers from me) was a surprise and, in a way, not as ugly as I'd expected. It was heavy and troubling...and educational, thanks to K.C. Wells obvious research. Marcus's situation became a learning experience for me, which I really appreciated and added value to the book.
As a whole, Seb's Summer was a delightful, emotional read. Two men with disparate life experiences who found each other when and where they least expected it. They connected and slowly allowed the other in, they stumbled a bit, they worked through their doubts and eventually accepted they could have happiness and love.
My favorite thing, though, about the book and this series in general, is the great focus on different types of relationships. Good or bad, between relatives, friends or lovers, it's always an immersive experience, full of emotions and making me feel right at home with the characters. Each book with its new set of families and friends that I miss as soon as the story is finished, and the series' constant merry band of pals I could never get enough of. Three if them paired up and lots of Maine adventures to come. Can't wait!

Nate was such a wonderful surprise, because I'd expected a bitter, irascible cowboy and instead I found an utter sweetheart...yes, set in his ways and surly, but with the warmest soul. The book is told from his point of view and his voice was incredibly humorous, especially when recounting his initial reaction to Bishop. The attraction to the surfer boy, long haired paleontologist took Nate completely by surprise, but, despite the countless reasons he'd thought he should have stayed away, it wasn't long before he accepted his feelings, especially when Bishop made it more than obvious that he wanted Nate just as much.
I absolutely loved Nate and, seen through his eyes, I adored Bishop, too. They were complete opposites that simply clicked together, with a unique sexual dynamic and a special emotional connection.
Their story was delightful. The mystery woven into the romance kept me captivating, more so thanks to the way the author made the setting come to live. There were plenty of vivid descriptions of the surroundings, the ranch and its people, and the university guys, and I was fascinated by each of them. I only wish that the ending hadn't left me with so many questions, because the mystery wasn't elucidated and Nate and Bishop's future as a couple wasn't exactly clear. Even with those niggles, the story was an absolute pleasure to read and I can't wait for the next books in this series....more

And now, fate put them back together and their journey to forever was bumpy, full of drama, heartbreak, healing and second chances, and so much laughter and love. I loved Lane and Denver. They were larger than life and perfectly flawed, and their story gave me angst and hope, and all the emotions one can possibly feel.

And, of course, there was the romance between Forest and Greene. The author has started teasing about these two men several books back and I couldn't wait to get my hand on their story. The tension between them was so dense you could cut it with a knife, but they took their sweet time to acknowledge it both at the same moment. I lost count of the times I wanted to shake either Greene or Forest, make them get some sense.
