And then a captivating stranger shows up and says he needs Wren's help. In another realm. So Wren's life suddenly becomes full of excitement and dangers, with the possibility of happiness and romance if he and Shrike survive their quest.
The action moves from the human realm to the magic one and I was so caught up in this story that reality slipped away. The writing is amazing and vividly detailed, the plot engrossing and incredibly paced, fast moving and eventful. Wren and Shrike are greatly developed, and I was completely invested in their lives, cheering for their happiness.
I recommend this book to anyone looking for an immersive adventure filled with magic, interesting characters, action and romance....more

A complex protagonist in Asagi, interesting secondary characters and an involved storyline. I liked the historical setting of Japan, it was amazing and detailed, but it was not an easy read. Brutal, violent and heartbreaking, actually, with just a few light moments to ease the dark overall theme.
Be mindful of the warnings, but do give this book a chance. It's worth the emotional rollercoaster and the intense introduction to Japanese lore. ...more

I admit, the first few pages I didn't know what to believe. Romily, the narrator, kept meeting this guy loaded to the gills with weapons who got involved in these mass killings, which Romily witnessed. You gotta admit it was a bit weird, right? Soon enough, the guy got a name, Fox, and offered Romily a job as his Harbinger. Don't know what that means? I can't tell you, because you definitely have to read this book and find out for yourselves.
And I promise you'll have immense fun reading it, especially if you're a fan of over the top, silly, snarky, sometimes ridiculous humor. Consider that Romily is mute, and he still managed to crack me up every page of this book. A lot of craziness was involved, eccentric and captivating characters, paranormal action, twists and surprises. No angst, slow romantic buildup, some danger and gore...a total winner for me!...more

With all the same sex pairings happening, this small community will never be the same after Jay Hogan finishes this series. I have the best fun seeing how the people of Painted Bay openly welcome each new person and couple that find a home there...the newest addition being the partnering up of Abe and Kane.
Well, Abe was supposed to have just a quick, six weeks long stay in town. A nomad, rootless and unwilling to be tied down to only one place...until he met Kane. Kane, who was desperate to belong, aching for love because he's never had it, eaten up by guilt and longing for a family that would accept him. Alone, lonely, on the fringes looking in, unseen. But Abe saw him, his kindness, his warm heart, his pain. They gravitated toward one another, they found a sounding board in each other, and they got closer and closer one sensual tango step at a time.
Abe and Kane together were wonderful and I have so many feelings for them. Never someone deserved a second chance or had a right to happiness, as much as Kane. He had done a terrible thing as a teenager and was still paying the price. But Abe opened a world of possibilities for Kane, gave his full acceptance, love and support, and in return, he offered a home and stability.
This wasn't Kane's redemption story, but of how he finally forgave himself and found forgiveness. It's the story of Kane and Abe falling in love, yet, what I really appreciated was that it wasn't only about them. The characters from the previous books didn't just make passing appearances, but were integral to events, their own stories also moving forward. Lives intertwined, influencing one another, growing and shifting together. A family, sharing happy moments and troubled ones, even fighting every once in a while, but always there, supporting each other. I love them all and I've become completely invested in their lives, and that's why every new book in Painted Bay series is like visiting old friends and making new ones. Can't wait to meet them all again in the next installment! ...more

The writing is so good that I was immediately sucked into the story. Trevor set foot in Nana O'Neill's convinced the bakery would provide him material for his next cutting review, only to discover himself in love with the pastries and, albeit reluctantly, utterly intrigued by its grumpy, scrumptious owner.

I have to give credit to this author, the world they've built is complex, with a great amount of characters. Kudos for the creativity and the ability to create different people, each with their roles, and engage them in a complicated plotline. That notwithstanding, I couldn't get into the story. The writing style wasn't in any way fluid, weighted with unnecessary words and phrase twirls. I tried, but I simply couldn't get a good grip on the plotline or keep any kind of interest for what was happening. I will, though, give a chance to any future books by this author, because I honestly think they have great potential to write amazing stories....more

A ground base, so to speak, for Breck and Kai's story, the beginning of their journey together. The author built up their complex personalities, their pasts, present and their dreams for their future... and their inability to abate the attraction they have for each other.
It's a story filled with sexual tension, so palpable and intense that it left me holding my breath in anticipation for the moment these two men would give into their desires. But also with a glimpse of an emotional connection, a need for more that neither Breck nor Kai were ready to admit to.
Tamed is just a taste of what Breck and Kai can be together and I can't wait to see how their relationship can develop in the future....more

Right from the first pages it's easy to see that Perry is a very special man and I was completely enamored with him. How could I not adore a young man who softly reads philosophy trying to calm a nervous horse? And, thanks to the amazing way the author wrote him, I got to know him through his many interests and facets of his personality. Through his pride of his heritage and his strong connection to nature and horses, through his relationships with his mother and grandfather, and his interactions with the people at Prairie Smoke Ranch. With a curious mind, excited about dinosaurs and fascinated with ancient philosophers, respectful, loyal, kind... and also shy, cute, insecure, passionate and loving throughout the development of his relationship with Will.
Getting to know Perry and watching him and Will fall in love filled my heart with joy. Twilight's Touch isn't that long, yet the author managed to craft a complex character, a touching romance and an eventful plot, all having the series's overall storyline as a background.

Ned and Toni didn't particularly like each other when they first met, so the book started with a fun enemies vibe. Then these two men began their fake-but-not-really relationship and I was sucked into a whirlwind of emotions. Both Ned and Toni had so many intricate layers, so much hidden behind the personas they showed to the world. Outwardly strong and confident, yet eaten up by low self-confidence and insecurities.
And the beauty of this story was seeing Ned and Toni allowing themselves to show their weaknesses, doubts and struggles, and their hidden needs to one one another. By not being rejected or ridiculed, and instead finding support, understanding and appreciation... by seeing themselves as worthy in the eyes of the other, both started to fully accept and love their true, flawed selves.
I was surprised, charmed and awestruck by each new shade of their personalities they showed me. And they definitely amazed me when, despite their fears, they chose to completely open up to each other. Two imperfect men who were perfect for one another, with desires and needs that matched and an emotional connection that grew to be strong and lasting.
This was such a riveting and fulfilling story. Lots of soul-searching and angst, perfectly balanced by humor and lightness. I loved it!...more

All through the**spoiler alert** Ever since Broken Warrior, I've been enchanted by the world of this series and completely enamoured with its heroes. All through the first four books of the series, as the Weavers were introduced, as they learned to hone their powers and as they met their mates, I've watched them become a family. They argued and bantered, they had good and bad moments, always with the underlying fear that they might not have a future. I've had the chance to know them intimately, to care deeply for each of them and cheer for the success of their mission.
In Storm Warrior, Hale and Harrison, as the last addition to the Weavers's Circle, felt, in comparison, almost frugal acquaintances, as I didn't get the chance to know them also through the view of all the others. Justifiably so, of course, as they were introduced during the rush to survive and considering that their arrival meant the imminent final battle to save the world.
This book had a breathtaking pace right from the first pages. Harrison had arrived at the manor right in the middle of a pestilent attack and afterwards, he and the Weavers had to embark on the journey toward the location of the rift. It was full of dangers at every turn and many times it seemed like they weren't going to make it. And meanwhile, Hale and Harrison had to figure out the intense attraction they both felt and the incredible connection they couldn't fight, when they tought they weren't destined for one another.
The story was action packed and thrilling. Suffused with foreboding, that, thankfully, the author broke with fun, sweet moments between the Weavers and especially with the amazing romance between Hale and Harrison. The suspense increased with each page, and each page I feared none of them would make it out alive. I've been on the edge of my seat and holding my breath until the final battle, until the moment when the Weavers had to close the rift...until the moment they met their destiny.
And...wow! Is this truly the end? Everything that lead up to this, all the laughter and tears, the anguish, the love and the passion... It's been a wonderful journey and I can't believe it's over. But, I want to give the author a huge thank you for the epilogues. Every Weavers had one, with an amazing view of how they were settled a few months after the final showdown and I finished reading with a huge happy grin on my face.

I was immediately drawn into the lives of Sebastian and Dominus. They were instantly attracted to each other, although Dominus tried his best to stay away from Sebastian at the beginning. I had so much fun watching them dance around each other. They did spend almost half the book separated, pining and distraught, but that only made their reunion sweeter.
This is truly an entertaining story. The writing is great and I liked the world built by the author. Sebastian and Dominus are a delight and the secondary characters are all interesting and fun. All around an enjoyable, magical read.

Escalating darkness, violence This has just become my absolute favorite book by this author. For one, the danger was amped up to breathtaking levels. Escalating darkness, violence and fear while Hiro and Maddox couldn't figure are what they were up against, fighting intangible enemies that had almost killed them. It started with a spirit, then a murder and soon enough there were murders and ghosts all over the place. It was glorious!
Alice Winters's trademark humor was topnotch, with hilarious dynamics between Hiro, Maddox and their ghost friends. They teased, embarrassed and sniped at each other, but, when push came to shove, they put themselves in danger to protect one another.
Then, the romance part of the book? So much better, with Hiro and Maddox settled in their relationship. They were sweet and funny and swoony... and rarely got a private intimate moment thanks to their inappropriate ghostly friends.
Everything about Ghost of Truth was immense fun. The couple, the suspense, the side characters, the laughter and the pets (especially the invisible ones). I absolutely hope that there'll be many more future books in this series, because I can't get enough of these characters!...more

But, in my opinion, you really must get to know Peter and Theo.
If you'd ask him, Peter would introduce himself as a cold, disinterested and grudging any kind of bother to disrupt his life. Seemed kind of apathetic to me, really. That is, until he met Theo, who stirred up all sort of feelings in him. And, although it's something not usually said about a centuries old vampire, I found Peter utterly adorable at times. "Ah, the bother!" was Peter's custom reaction to each new thing he wanted to do for Theo, but he never faught his need to put the younger man at ease and win his trust, essentially trying to make his life better.
Although his past experiences have been bad, Theo was resilient and independent, strong in the face of all his fears. And strong of his opinions and wishes, even when confronted with the powerful vampire that was Peter.
Their relationship started off with a power imbalance and just as a contract. It was supposed to remain emotionless and I found both Theo and Peter endearing when they initially tried to keep things within the boundaries of their legal arrangement. The author did an amazing job at depicting the slow shift of their relationship. They had intense chemistry while evoking powerful feelings in each other at the same time.
This was a entertaining and poignant read. I enjoyed the fact that the characters never ceased to show layers of their personalities and that they learned about themselves and each other up until the very end. So, give Legally Claimed a chance, you won't regret it. ...more

First Kiss offered a taboo situation and hidden romance that, thankfully, wasn't too angsty but tasteful and emotional. The book had perfectly balanced drama, a touch of suspense, sweet and sexy times, comfort and happiness, and I enjoyed witnessing Josh and Charlie fight for their love.
Although Asher and Sean both felt an Instant Desire when they met, they didn't immediately act on their physical attraction, and that's what I appreciated about their romance. They were given the chance to work on themselves first, with small, tentative steps towards each other, until they fully accepted and grasped happiness.
In Primary Seduction, Max and Trent's connection was amazingly written, full of emotion and with a slowly built, deep and touching intimacy. Two men with different life experiences that learn to lean on each other, developing their own special dynamic and a strong bond.
