Hmm, how to describe this book...it's Harry Potter meets X-men meets that one Piper Perri photo (iykyTl;dr Mid af but four guys makes for great sex.
Hmm, how to describe this book...it's Harry Potter meets X-men meets that one Piper Perri photo (iykyk) but take all of that and make it Wattpad.
I'll be honest, I'd (surprisingly) say I enjoyed this for the most part? It's not an amazing book by any means but it's not wholly terrible either.
The number of people who DNFed this book doesn't even remotely surprise me because you can tell right off the bat that the writing is fairly amateurish and juvenile. I was half tempted to stop by the end of the first chapter but alas, I have an incessant need to finish what I start so here we are. The writing style is where the "Wattpad" comparison comes into play - it reads like a mediocre fanfiction with a gratuitous amount of fanservice-y writing and over explaining. Not to mention the dialogue that, at certain times, becomes oddly formal and excruciatingly cringeworthy.
Actually, ya know what? I'm just gonna write a mini shit list of things I didn't like so I can get them out of my head and move on to the good stuff:
- Micah didn't seem have any true character development - something about the usage of the word "pussy" that gave me the ick - mild villainization of straight women - the "dweeb" thing? No. - I eventually grew to like (read: tolerate) Cade but his intro to the story with the whole Lola/dildo thing? Unnecessary and yucky. - plot was just okay
So, the things I liked?
I really liked the interactions between our four MCs - Zeke and Hyde, especially. I like how they all had a part to play and even though they're all glaringly different, the relationship between the four of them just works. Zeke is stinkin' adorable with his guileless smiles and open affection, Hyde is scarily sexy with a tough exterior but an ooey-gooey puppy dog center, and Cade...at least he knows how to grovel. If he wasn't literally on his hands and knees for Micah I would categorize him as irredeemable. Micah is okay too if you like characters that are the epitome of "being small is my defining personality trait".
What I really liked were the sex scenes. They seemed surprisingly well written but idk, maybe I'm just a horny horndog pervert who likes to read about four hot guys gettin' it on? *shrug*
Was I adequately entertained? Sure. Would I recommend this book to anyone? Probably not.
