What a weird and kinda thrilling read. Grotesque in quite a few places. Bloody.
It was a little predictable where the plot went. It was still 3.5 STARS

It was a little predictable where the plot went. It was still entertaining. I wasn't too sure about the 'hero' almost portrayed as a good-guy with unfortunate circumstances.... buuuuut he was really unperturbed went it came to his uncles victims.
I enjoyed it though, AND BE WARNED, that DAMN prologue is the peak scene of the book, WTF, massive spoiler!...more
A good, not fab read. I liked the characters, their ending and their angst.
The first two books were slow paced, with moReview for the complete series.

But the books aren't based on fantasies, or kink, or sex. They're more situation based.
The Pleasure of Panic was too complicated for me. The story left you dangling on revealing secrets and information until the very end. I do like how all the books tie with her other series', but when you haven't got a good memory like me, all the information and names can leave yourself confused. Even more so when the characters are talking in circles.
I love Huss' character names, they're always unique characters too. I am enjoying the series despite my reservations....more

Brilliant second and final instalment to the Sins Duet. It was perfectly dark, emotional and action filled with an explosive ending.
I kind of felt the show was stolen during the second half, Javier really took the crown by turning out to be the most interesting character; he has such a big and multi-faceted personality, it's really hard not to be enthralled with his scenes over everyone elses.
Thoroughly enjoyed these books! I hope to hear from Javier's right hand man in a future book!
Black Hearts is a spin-off from the Sins & Needles Trilogy, but also heavily features our favourite Halle trio; Elle, Camden and Javier as the Montague's and Capulet's of our hero and heroine. It almost feels like a #3.5.
Not as action based or as fast paced as S&Ns, but a mixture of a broody and beautiful read. The hero - Javier's son - is the perfect mix of dark with messed up morals and a huge romantic side. Our heroine - Elle's daughter - is dark like him too, but delicate at the same time.
It was an overall winner, with deep romance, dark themes, two likeable and very interesting leads as well as being set with a beautiful backdrop. I love how the book kept me guessing as to what is going to happen next.

Highly recommend for Sins & Needles lovers.

Unbeautiful is a complicated, tormented and dark tale of two lost souls with incredibly messed up lives.

Be warned Ricochet is an incredibly dark and violent romance set in Detroit, featuring: Heavy violence, gruesome torture, death, drugs, rape, prostitution, abuse, self harm, psychopaths, paedophiles, gang members... and more.
Three years ago, I had everything. A beautiful wife. A son. A reason for living.
Until a ruthless task force, assembled under Mayor Michael Culling, with a brutal strategy to make the streets of Detroit ‘safe’, ripped away everything I loved in a deadly hunt called The Culling.
I’m no longer Nick Ryder. I’m a masked vigilante. Faceless. Loveless. Fearless. A man with nothing left to lose—one who's seen the dark and violent truth behind the city’s flawless veneer.
Michael Culling doesn’t know who I am. Or what I want. All he knows is that I’ve kidnapped his beautiful wife. An eye for an eye—isn’t that how the saying goes? And Aubree Culling is the perfect pawn to destroy him.
I loved the theme of revenge. The grit and violence made it, probably, the darkest read I've read so far. There were some points where I was genuinely surprised by what was written in, I didn't expect how far it was willing to go.
It gave me all the intended feels, the horror, the suspense, the sadness, the heat.
I admired the depth of the storyline, the set up and the scenes that were played out. There was never a dull moment.
I also really liked the characters, I loved the wickedness of Michael. The visual of Nick and the loyalty and kicking ass-ness that came with him. And I enjoyed the ballsy, brave and mouthy 'Pistol Lips' Aubree.
Why not 5 stars? The writing became a little awkward with an odd analogy here and there. I didn't love the characters. I guessed the major reveal, which should have been less predictable and wound tighter. Also with a bit more of a bite and less soppyness in the last scene; would have made it perfection for me.
Maybe it's just me being picky, it's definitely going on my favourites shelf anyway.

'Stay' kicks off on a mystery. The heroine, Laurel, seemingly suffering from amnesia, is battling with her mind, finding herself on the edge of a balcony, not knowing who or where she is, or who her fiancé is.
Rewind six weeks and ballet dancer Laurel Hayward is a witness to a murder and almost kidnapped by the killer, taken into protective custody she meets Deputy U.S Marshal Jason Dunn.
Laurel battles with a mix of annoyance and lust when it comes to living in such close quarters with Jason's bad boy persona. Whereas Jason knows how much he wants her, but knows he shouldn't. Not only could he lose his job, but he also finds himself wanting to comfort Laurel, a very foreign feeling for a man who lacks any soft emotions.
I really enjoyed Stay, it's definitely for those who like some action. The characters were likeable. I loved the inclusion of Shawn; Jason's brother. He really added some humour to the story and I’m looking forward to more from him in the next book....more

There's a handful of errors. It tagged on Goodreads as 'Dark' when it's not, it is gritty though. It was anti-climatic. Failed to reach needed suspense levels.
I liked both of the lead characters. The hero was a lovely mix of tough guy, sweet guy and kinda daft (Shhh, I know, but it worked and I liked it!) I loved the sex scenes. Domme-sub, her regaining her power and him accepting his submissiveness. The characters 'pasts' were interesting and worked well with the people that they became.
It was a quick read at approx 169 kindle pages. Not my fave Skye Warren book and definitely a little different for her. I enjoyed it, but wouldn't read it again....more
